MemberPraetorianDec-27-2017 1:56 AMI know i'm one day late, but it was last Christmas that we were given the first trailer to Alien Covenant.A lot has happened since then. The film has released to polarizing results to say the least. But in all fairness the initial reaction to the trailer it's self was already mixed. So looking back a year ago,how did you feel upon witnessing the trailer? And how do you feel now having seen the film?I personally am a fan of Covenant, though have to admit i was slightly underwhelmed when i saw it opening weekend.I enjoyed it way more upon my second viewing on DVD.What about you?
P.S. If someone could post a link for the original trailer that'd be awesome!I would but links never work for me.Thanks in advance!

MemberNeomorphDec-27-2017 2:05 AMI actually thought everything fox did leading up to the film was first class including the trailers. problem is the trailers and prologues pretty much gave the movie away. plus a lot of things were misleading, none more so than the amazing poster featuring the horror of the engineers being facehugged with xenos all around them. had absolutely nothing to do with the film
on the film itself, first viewing wasn't a great copy so watched a better copy, still sucked. wont watch again.

As with Prometheus, I thought the trailer gave away too much. I enjoyed the movie more than Prometheus.
I think things should go for a less is more approach like 1979:

We were less spoiled back then it seems.

MemberPraetorianDec-27-2017 12:55 PMI agree with the spoilerific advertising.I always thought it was a mistake to show Orum getting face hugged, the shower scene, and the backburster. The backburster of course was hiped to top the original chestburster. If they really wanted that it should have been held back.

MemberPraetorianDec-27-2017 12:58 PMThank you DK for the links!I still think the original Alien has the greatest trailer of all time in my opinion. Also worth pointing out while it's my favorite movie,Aliens trailer gave you almost everything but the queen in it's trailer. It's not a great trailer for such a great film lol.

MemberNeomorphJan-02-2018 1:31 AMThe trailer means less if the movie is not good. As far as I know the same thing went for Prometheus. Some parts of the movie was alright while some of it sucked. I liked the landscapes, I liked how they portrayed David and Walter and also Oram was alright. Most of the characters didn't add anything and also their personalities were thin as I don't know what.
Covenant is probably one of the worst movies among those that are alien connected. I watched it some times to give them some money so we would get a sequel but now when I look back at it it is without a doubt a movie that has a long way to go before it would be good. Nope, it is not a movie for me and well I think that I enjoyed Prometheus more because it had less of David and also David was better in that movie.
Do you mean this one?
