Well, well, well...did Jim Cameron copy the alien Queen from H.R. Giger? Not! At least not entirely. He reshaped, oversized and added exquisite details to the Xenomorph. But creation? Hell no!
Give me your thoughts.
The above picture of a possible alien Queen could have been from the book 'Necronomicon' , of H. R. GIGER, because it follows the art of the swiss painter.
Cameron apologized to H.R. Giger, because he didn't include Giger - the designer of the Xenomorph - in the making of the film 'Aliens'
Here's the link to his letter of...Shame.

MemberTrilobiteMay-29-2019 11:26 AMI don't think he copied it. It's a shame Giger wasn't mentioned. Giger is listed in the actual credits under "other crew" as original alien designer.

MemberDeaconMay-29-2019 5:05 PMThe Image in the OT as far as i am aware is NOT by HR Giger, i dont think Cameron had borrowed anything (that was already borrowed prior) from HR Giger apart from the Queen has Similar Hands to one of HR Gigers works.
I dont think Cameron is the only one who has not given HR Giger as much Credit as he deserved.

MemberChestbursterMay-30-2019 2:12 AMI agree with BigDave that the Queen painting does not seem too be a Giger piece, as it is not even seem to be airbrushed as the artist used to work. Maybe we can receive a page number and/or more details about the book?
@dk the painting is from 1976 and is called Meister und Margeritha (The Master and Margarita) named after the famous Bulgakov novel. It was not done as a commission work for the Morrison wannabe. Giger made album cover omissions for : Walpurgis; Emerson Lake and Palmer; Debbie Harry; and Steve Stevens & the Atomic Playboys.

MemberFacehuggerMay-30-2019 1:58 PMI had the reference that the image was from necronomicon's H. R. GIGER. But now, after seeing all the Pages of the book, i AM sure that it isn't.
If you want my precise accuracy, everything related to the space creature, every Monster sculpture, every picture is based on H.R.Giger's artwork.
Jim Cameron didn't honored the artist H. R.Giger. He didn't include H. R. GIGER in the making of the movie 'Aliens', the artist that designed the xenomorph and had a big part in the success of Alien 1979 film. How derranged is Jim Cameron? Treating H.R. Giger like a disposable asset, but taking advantage of its art.
I still think that he copied the alien Queen, because the Queen is a xenomorph, it's a La Palice truth, but it's still a truth.
Reshaping isn't creation.
Ps: This picture is really from the book 'Necronomicon' and, at the top of it, That skull looks very similar to the head of the New born, the Monster from the 'Alien resurrection' film.
With a little bit of imagination, i almost can see, underneath the newborn head, the heads of Two neomorphs, facing each other.

MemberTrilobiteMay-30-2019 3:14 PMI think JC had the concept for the queen but there was a small army of actual artists and designers who made it happen.
ignorantGuy Morrison wannabe. Ha- that's a new one! I always thought of him as Evil Elvis. How the Gods Kill is a pretty good listen though.

MemberPraetorianMay-30-2019 3:33 PMIt's very good, but it's not a Giger!
It's a tribute by Maxa-art

MemberDeaconMay-30-2019 5:02 PMI think every movie in the Franchise does take some inspiration from HR Gigers works, some may go around with doing it in a way so as to look like they are NOT directly using his Material... but we can see the Influences.
Newborn Skull and that Image do look similar.
I think the Franchise is much bigger than just Xenomorphs, which Prometheus attempted to show us, and there is a wealth of Strange Creatures and Art from HR Giger that could be used in numerous ways if we expand beyond Xenomorphs.
This ONE has the same Skull at the Top..
It would have been interesting to see David or Engineers use a Female Attached Similar to Harvest Egg Cells for the Creation of Horrific Things!

MemberXenomorphMay-30-2019 10:23 PMThe crappy queen is entirely JC's concept. Also the jumpy xenomorphs species.

MemberTrilobiteMay-30-2019 10:39 PMThe Queen looks good enough- it's the Gene Simmons tongue creature that ruins it.

BigDave god I hope this does become a thing! But would Giger's estate allow the Alien franchise use of his materials after the soured history between the two do you think?

MemberFacehuggerJun-01-2019 7:19 AMAccording to H. R. GIGER, the skin of Any kind of xenomorph has to be translucid, like we see it on the facehugger eggs when the light reflects on Them and we see the facehuggers moving, reacting to the light. Other thing that H. R. GIGER brought to the alien films was "the culture of the Kiss that Kills". Curiously, Alien Resurrection respects the wishes of H. R. GIGER, maybe because Jean pierre-jeunet is European like H. R. GIGER, and French. Both speak French, although the maternal language of H. R. GIGER is german. In switzerland, in some regions the language mostly spoked is French and, in others, is german. For instance, the swiss Roger Federer, one of the best tennis players of all time, has german as his maternal language.
