BigDave- We Love ya Brother!
dk
MemberTrilobiteOct-28-2020 11:10 PMBD has been conspicuously silent for some time. I know he may have some health issues or even an an old wonky PC that may have given up the ghost. Who knows?
Even though this is is a glorified commercial, I feel it conveys my sentiment for BigDave whom I hope returns. If not, farewell Brother- thanks for everything you have contributed! I wish you the best.

MemberXenomorphOct-29-2020 11:00 AMI can't say farewell to BigDave, I hope he's well, just a little busier, and wait for his comeback.
C'mon BigDave, we need you back!

Sending wishes of divine love! Hoping you are strong and well...we all await your return.
BigDave....reach out to Chris if you have password issues...you can even log in with your cell phone. You know we all care about you brother.....we would send out a search party to find you; but, we have no idea where you are at...

MemberChestbursterOct-30-2020 12:13 AMVery hard to summon BD. Instead of similar topics, you should create an interesting topic with theories or your own vision of Engineers or AI.

MemberFacehuggerOct-30-2020 12:49 PMWhat does everyone think of this?
Let's presume BigDave is not coming back for some time and it has nothing to do with us or him in some trouble of any kind.
The only thing I can think of is BigDave writing for a movie studio and signed a non disclosure agreement. So he can no longer come here and talk, about you guessed it, all things to do with Alien....BigDave has been coming here since this placed opened it's doors eight years ago.
After 11,804 posts the equivalent of 20 length books of War and Piece of posts, I really do not believe he would stop posting here if it were not something to do with his writing.
BigDave has privately been working on screenplay treatments for the Alien franchise.....some of this work he was very secretive about.
If anyone knows anything about this or thinks this is not possible please comment down below.

MemberTrilobiteOct-30-2020 10:35 PMBlackAnt I hope you are right Friend. I like your take on it- it gives a lot of room for speculation- and well earned. I am hopeful but I have to call out what could be an uncomfortable truth. I hope that I am wrong. Come on BigDave- give SOME kind of signal!

MemberTrilobiteOct-30-2020 11:57 PMHe is in the UK. My post was basically a signal to let him know we are here if he could see but unable to respond. Sort of a signal flare. All we can do is wait.
Come on BigDave- do it for Sox!

MemberFacehuggerNov-07-2020 1:48 AMI believe BigDave hails from the Birmingham area of the UK. The UK is now three days into its 2nd national Covid lockdown, so if he’s having computer or internet problems it could be tricky for him to get online. Let’s hope it’s nothing more serious than that. I mean, Covid is running rampant now in the UK.

MemberChestbursterNov-26-2020 11:35 AMI'm glad that you are with us again! It was pretty boring here while you were away.
Of course, first of all, you need to take care of your health. I hope your health back to normal.

MemberFacehuggerNov-26-2020 6:05 PMGreat news, BD. This is particularly poignant for me, since a good friend and colleague of mine was taken from us by the virus last week. He was only 40 and leaves a young family.

I am so SORRY to hear about that, that is Young, it shows we should NOT really Underestimate the Pandemic, i feel so Blessed and Lucky to be 90% Mended after 3 weeks. At ONE point i was considering going to Hospital when i had like a Bad Asthma Attack(i dont suffer from Asthma) and Lung Peak Flow dropped to just over 30%
My thoughts go to your Friend R.I.P and their Friends and Family.

MemberTrilobiteNov-27-2020 9:40 PMhox I am sorry for your and your friend's family's loss. My daughter just called to tell me she and her family lost their sense of smell along with general fatigue. It is chilling to hear. This shit is real.

MemberFacehuggerNov-28-2020 8:54 PMI have to tell you that you gave me and everyone here a real close call. But all that does not matter. What matters is your health and that you are recovering.
I do not know what to say honestly...I just do not have words to describe all of the darkness and so many of the deaths from this pandemic. I got sick recently as well.
I felt very uncomfortable saying anything at all to you in front of everyone about any of this; but, I am thankful for what we all have in common.
This I have no problem saying at all...I missed you so very much and I want you to know that sincerely. Everyone missed you a lot as well. BigDave this has been a terrible year for me and for so many other people. My brother died this summer from stomach cancer...it was a horrible death that weighs heavy on my soul to this day.
For reasons now which you may surmise your return is both with pain and thankfulness. The pain of my brother's death still being fresh in my mind, anything to do with mortality causes me anxiety.
Naturally like many other people, being sick myself with this thing, as well as the constant global din of death from this pandemic, I hope you do not hold it against me for retreating somewhat - at times I just have no words for any of it and for me there is nowhere safe to retreat from any of the pain.
You are back and that is what is important. Although I will not ask it you must imagine we are all concerned about your long term health, as I wonder about mine and the many others of us who have survived this terrible affliction.
I have been so unhappy for months in general with so many things lately as you can imagine - BTW I am on the other side of the pond. Then when you did not show up here for many weeks I hit another low point...so I was very sad and angry....and I apologize to anyone I was cross with.
On a better note I have not taken to drink or any other nasty business so I have clarity of mind which is helpful at times and also magnifies my anxiety about the future. Not to get off topic but the states are a mess right now because of our national politics and how bloody stupid we all are being about this virus at the moment.
I wish there was more; but, as unpleasant as that all may be it is an honest account of my troubles.
I think I am at that age where life has a funny way of not being what you expect at times. This is one of those moments where I neither know what to expect of it or able to escape in any suitable way. Last year I felt much more free and the future appeared brighter in every way.
So once again I wish you to get better and stronger each day and every day. I also wish we could all appreciate each other more because when you really think about it that is all we really have at the end of all this messy business we call life.
Even though you are not at your best BigDave it is very comforting to know how narrowly you escaped the clutches of this thing and with that a very warm welcome back is in order!
This is a very somber portrait. It encompasses how entangled we all are at the moment. The good news is the darkness never lasts and the light always persists. In all of this we can never be broken.

So SORRY to hear about that my thoughts are with you and so sorry for you Loss..
I think we have to look at the Silver Lining that Every Cloud has, by that i mean with LOSS we have Pain but we also have Memories but with LOSS it makes you Appreciate how SPECIAL a Gift that LIFE is.
The Pandemic has had a MASSIVE Impact on the World, in Terms of NOT just those who have Lost their Lives or Loved Ones, but also the Burden that Financially has impacted Lives and the Loss of Freedom and Things we took for Granted.
When and i do think IT will Pass, then Hopefully a lot of Businesses can Re-start and Grow and Financially people can regain some Security, but i think what will EFFECT us most of all is it will HOPEFULLY go and Unite us as a Race and we will APPRECIATE what we had before the Pandemic and also Appreciate the Gift of LIFE more.

MemberOvomorphJan-18-2021 9:01 AMI trust that he'll be back, Very difficult to bring BD. Rather than comparative subjects, you ought to make an intriguing theme with hypotheses.
We should assume BigDave isn't returning for quite a while and it has nothing to do with us or him in some difficulty of any sort.
