Help remembering an alien story

I remember listening to an alien audiobook, years ago. butI can't remember the title.

After being told to stay in their quarters, two civilians are trying to figure out what's going on at the base (or colony.) I think one of them is afraid to go out and the other is going for it

An infestation is just beginning, and they must survive.
