MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 11:36 AMHoly crap. I just watched this live on the alien day stream, and i was almost trembling watching it. So. Damn. Awesome. We now now shaw is in cryo sleep and possibly aboard the juggernaut as he bombards the planet, and david learns something along the way that makes him drop the goo on the planet. Maybe shaw dies when the juggernaut crashes into the forest?
Watching her put Davids head together was amazing, "red to red, green to green". I feel like we've seen so much of the movie so far, but yet so much is still not known. Cant wait to see what you all think of the new footage!!

Only David has the gift of ever lasting life. His prime directive has been to find the fountain of youth for Weyland. I wonder if Shaw is dying and David will continue his experiments to save her. It works in the context of the Nature Boy lyrics.
But why the portrait of her? Interesting note.

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 11:42 AM"Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! " - this is what David says in the video as he drops the black goo on the planet, it is by the poet Shelley, in his poem "Ozymandias"
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 11:43 AMWooWooo Wooo ! Stop everything, i'm so hyped now. I'm waiting for so long about this part of the story : David and Shaw alone in space. Wow, very exited about that new video.
Guys, have you noticed all these veins all around the Shaw's neck when David and her exploring space on Engineer's map ?
Maybe it's caused by the oxygen on the ENgineer's Spaceship ?
Finally, it's maybe just her hairs Oo Ahah

MemberFacehuggerApr-26-2017 11:47 AMI wonder if that is still the effects of her sleeping with Holloway. She is infected despite removing the creature in the mepod

MemberFacehuggerApr-26-2017 11:47 AMNoV4CoRpS I thought it was strands of her hair stuck to her sweaty neck.

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 11:48 AMI'm wondering if Shaw actually didn't die and is maybe still in the cryo-chamber on board the juggernaut. And was that screaming or cheering when the juggernaut appeared above the city? What do you think?

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 11:57 AMDavid and Shaw, their relationships are just like son and mother, that makes me feel a little bit emotional...

MemberFacehuggerApr-26-2017 11:57 AMAww man! The scale of those last few shots . . . wow!
Love how it goes from quite a happy, curious vibe between Shaw and David then as soon as he is alone . . . a subtle darkness begins!
From what I've seen Sir Ridley is in great form :)
This has got me more excited than any of the trailers . . .

MemberFacehuggerApr-26-2017 11:58 AMSpeaking of hair... both David's and Shaw's hair is quite a bit longer. I wonder how long they were "bonding" before Shaw went into cryo.

MemberFacehuggerApr-26-2017 12:00 PMI also find it interesting that David said, "We were finally going to meet our creator." Does he truly see the Engineers as his creator, and not Peter Weyland?

MemberChestbursterApr-26-2017 12:11 PMMembrane
It might be a foreshadowing of David recognizing that the creator of his creator is his true creator. If man were not created, David would not have been either. He maybe even understood this as soon as they confirmed engineers existence

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 12:35 PMI think we know now that David did not use Shaw for experiments and if anything she died in the crash or is still in sleep mode...which i think is great news....and creates another cliffhanger for the next movie.

"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
And we know from Prometheus that: "A king has his reign, and then he dies. It's inevitable. That is the natural order of things".
And we have two variants: David will die in AC and/or David want to create unnatural life - perfect organism, undying king!

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 1:44 PMWOW? Just... WOW? I'd pay out the ass to see this right now.

MemberPraetorianApr-26-2017 2:10 PMDavid might well be an extremely dark, ruthless anti-hero...the Protector of Shaw & Humanity, a being the Engineers should truly be very, VERY afraid of.
And this was so awesome, so unexpected...total Nerdgasm!!

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 2:31 PMThis is the most intriguing trailer for me so far.
David sounded thankful for Shaw. Of course we saw what he did with Holloway when he offered him a drink but this time he was narrating rather than speaking to Shaw directly so maybe what he "felt" (since he is a machine and "feeling" is not quite appropriate) is genuine? Could this mean he didn't kill Shaw but just used Engineer pod to preserve her? Or Shaw eventually died from age or in the crash or from an infection?

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 3:37 PMHello everyone. Why did David draw that picture of Shaw and show it to her? Any subtext?

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 3:38 PMThis looks absolutely AMAZING! So awesome. I wanted to love Prometheus but it was so hard with scientists doing stupid things and the writer trying his best to be obtuse. A beautiful film doesn't make it awesome.
But THIS movie, Alien Covenant, looks BADASS!!
I'm entirely ready for this shindig! BOOOOM, BRING IT ON!!!

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 3:57 PMI just watched this at the cinema half an hour ago along with 14 minutes of footage of covenant. Totally amazing! Was great seeing Prometheus and Alien Directors Cut at the cinema once again! I also got myself the exclusive IMAX poster for covenant and my ticket to see covenant on May 11th, one day before the UK release! :)

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 4:29 PMOk to answer my own question, having rewtched a few times, the subtext is IMO that David is either in love with Shaw or he sees her as a mother figure. I base this on the following: He refers to her as Elizabeth and not Dr Shaw as he always did previously. Says the following: "I never experienced such compassion from Mr Weyland or any other human". Maybe sees her a better parent or creator than Weyland now especially as she just sewed his head back on so owes her his life. He tells her "You're very kind at heart you know". Then at 1:16 shows her the picture he drew of her which is what initially sparked my query, but when rewatched I think he's showing her the picture like a child might do to it's mother or father, trying to please them, hoping they praise them etc either that or could interpret in the way a young kid might show a girl he has a crush on? The hopeful smile Fassbender gives creates both those possibilities for me. Maybe a kind of Oedipus thing going on here??? Thoughts please

MemberChestbursterApr-26-2017 4:40 PMThat sleeping beauty touch!, we can find the same pattern in Mia Sara as Lily from Legend awakening up from the sleep and the same thing in Ripley at the end of Alien in a hypersleep capsule.

MemberFacehuggerApr-26-2017 5:15 PMI think Davids voiceover is sort of an unreliable narrator, in that he is probably speaking to the crew of the covenant in that speech, and kind of lying to them. I think he "learned the engineers ways" and liked those ways very much. I think he just left Shaw in cryosleep and decided to finish what the engineers started, which is wiping out the humanoids they created, all of them. I think he has a mind to do it to earth as well, but just got stuck on this planet somehow - his ship crashed. I think he kept Shaw as sort of a keepsake, or even has her now as a alien-making-machine, but his ultimate goal is to finish the engineers work, exterminate humanity - the other speech he gave in the screened extended segment, where he says something like "they don't deserve to start over" makes sense then. I don't think he loves or even likes Shaw, he just told her what she wanted to hear until he was back in control.

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 5:43 PMTom, you might be right. The perceived affection David displays for Shaw in this short might be designed to mislead us, or Shaw herself, hiding his true, evil agenda...
Dsparil
MemberOvomorphApr-26-2017 6:26 PMDavid has a genuine affection for Shaw. Fassbender Scott etc have all pretty much confirmed that. It's shown in Prometheus in the beginning. Fassbender also spoke of their relationship in the present tense and referred to it as a typical marriage. Its very clear he does love her. I think the scene with Daniels finding her I'D tags is a red herring. I think that was the area of the ship Shaw was staying in while they were in flight before she went into cryo. I don't think Shaw is dead or transformed into anything. I think David did indeed discover something sinister about the engineers. Scott, himself, stated that the engineers and their "Gods" were not exactly benevolent or very nice. It was also stated that the beings in A.C. are not engineers but halfway between humans and the babyfaced engineers. I think it's also clear with the engineers ability to tamper with genetics, i.e. the black goo, that mankind was originally created to eventually transform into engineers. A graduation if you will, but there was a transgression thousands of years ago that convinced the current engineers to not only NOT bestow that honor but to punish mankind by wiping us out. I think it's also clear that David will learn how to accomplish that. I would not be surprised to see Shaw in the end on another juggernaut following David and the Covenant after they leave as a newly transformed female "engineer." With the beginning scene of Prometheus I think it's also very clear that the engineers created themselves and eventually transformed/graduated other humanoids into engineers for the sole purpose of sacrificing them. I can very easily see David telling Shaw that she is the only who truly deserves to be one of the engineers and certainly for the purpose of sacrificing herself but to be more powerful than mankind. Spoilers indicated that David gives a voice over in the beginning of A.C. that he's looking to stop mankind and wipe them out I think Shaw will be the exception to the rule hence Fassbenders comment about their "marriage" relationship and getting on each others nerves. He's out to destroy and she's out to protect.

MemberFacehuggerApr-27-2017 6:30 AMI love this. I knew David wasn't going to suddenly turn into some psycho and kill Shaw, like so many fan theories. At least not without a reason. But he's apparently learned something that has given him some sort of righteous indignation against the Engineers. Can't fu#king wait to see where this goes...

MemberOvomorphApr-28-2017 7:16 AMGuys, i was on that special screening of Alien in Belgrade, Serbia, on wednesday, we were able to see not only this Prologue scenes, but also the complete scenes when that little fella exits mans back and also the mouth of the other guy in the wheat fields, very bloody and gory! Little neomorph was covered of course with blood and placenta, attacks Karines face in the laboratory scene, she even manages to kick it with a boot but with no luck :). After that neo attacks Faris, she fell in total panic trying to close the door,, she fires a shootgun all over the place and of course hits some canisters which then explode with everything on that dropship. The look on Walters face was very interesting after mouth bursting scene, he was kinda fascinated and exited, you ll see :).

MemberOvomorphApr-29-2017 7:22 PMFirst post, greetings to you all. It seems AC is warming up to be quite a spectacle - the scale and tone Scott has managed to convey in this clip are stunning. Let's hope the subtle scoring and sound-design present here follows suit for the duration, and not the usual distraction of heavy-handed themes and tired over-used foley sounds that saturate most films nowadays

MemberOvomorphMay-03-2017 1:47 PMI find the drawing David does of Shaw to be somewhat telling. The Neomorph feels like a child's drawing, a quick sketch, of the xenomorph.
