You can probably draw comparisons if you want, doesn't mean that was the intention of those that wrote it. Cain was a person in the bible, Kane is in Alien, coincidence? I don't know but at least the names are close to each-other but then Kane is as little tied to the guy in the Bible as he is to a candy-cane, it's just that they sound similar.

That kind of reminds me of the alien in Alien 3. It took traits from the one that it was birthed from (ox or dog depending on what version that you watch), interesting that you mentioned it even though I'm not sure if that was your intention. David in Covenant, yeah but I think that comes from Scott since he seems to be interested in religion. You can be interested in it from a cultural perspective but you don't need to believe in it.

One could look at it like that but then it can be interpreted in many ways.

You mention the scene between David and Weyland, actually that was kind of interesting. Maybe they could have had more scenes with Weyland in it to show who he was, what he did before they went to the Prometheus mission, for example. Eventually they could have made him more interesting in Alien Covenant by adding those few extra bits in it so we could make more sense of him in Prometheus and therefore he would have become more interesting in retrospect and improved Covenant? These are just some ideas of what could have been done but it seems to be a moot point by now.

I've never looked at the horns on the Giger painting as being a metaphor for the devil, but it could be argued that it has some relevance but then I could be totally wrong. At least the horns look cool in that painting.

Thanks! I would rather have them referencing her in AR rather than to have the Ripley-clone, at least it wouldn't have thrown crap at her character. One could argue that it wasn't really Ripley but at least it was a strong enough connection but I don't really like it is my point. Even though this isn't supposed to be about AR I got to say that there are so many things that are wrong with that movie so I won't bother to make a list, LOL! We could both probably come up with a kind of long list about what they did wrong.

About Giler and Hiller, you mention on a personal level. I don't know them so I can't say but I can tell you that my guess for what ever it's worth is that producers often can screw up a movie, Alien 3 being maybe the most extreme example of that. Fincher being disrespected by the studio is one of the few things that I don’t like about Alien 3.

Less is more, I think that it's at its most effective where you don't really see what it does. This is partially why Alien works and honestly I don't mind that you don't see the monster that much because to me it's about the human experience anyways. When you see Daniels fight with it outside the ship in AC it’s a cool fight-scene but it’s kind of lame to show the monster out in the open so to me that scene is mixed so to speak. BWW, you’re a writer, can you explain to me that character-traits of Daniels? I didn’t get them when I watched AC she was a bit tough like Ripley but other than that I didn’t know what her personality was like. What’s your impression of her? Still after all these years I still scratch my head at that. Oram was a lot better than Daniels because at least I got an idea what he was about.

Instead of an Alien Covenant you could have it being around and them trying to escape it, or something. They can see signs of it (saliva or what ever) that makes them scared, but they don’t really see it, that could build tension and paranoia. Maybe they get so scared they start to question their sanity? Have it being so scary so it causes mental issues, how about that? Let it be about how you can start to doubt your sanity when you get really afraid.

Explaining it a bit more isn’t wrong but you mention where it came from and so on. Doesn’t that risk to strip it off its mystery? How will you handle that? I don’t say that it’s a bad thing but it’s risky. You mention an evolutionary-adaptive reason, that seems interesting. David made his own version but it is not The alien as you said, that’s my preferred way of looking at it.

Great post! could not have said it better. I like some of the special effects and that is about it. The show looks like a rough draft of sorts cobbled together very loosely with some rather fine special effects; but, only in specific shots. Otherwise the performances are terrible and just go in a circle chasing nonsense who dune it kind of little mysteries.

RBW is just not that interesting nor is it fun to watch.

As far as don't getting it, maybe they do but that they don't like it. It's about personal tastes, just because he likes what he has done (which he should) doesn't mean that everyone else are required to do so. I would rather see action-stuff rather than some fingering android. That doesn't mean that an action-movie or rather a movie with much action can't be interesting. The Matrix (first movie) is an example of that.

These are all pieces to a larger puzzle of course.....I rewrote what I had posted previously....The continuity is clearer with some other important details raised.

IMOM is derivative, important derivative! The main purpose of that IMOM show is to demonstrate control to you and for you to covet the possession of a GOD LIKE power....we can call it AI or any name you want. Possession is the key element with which we all try to control our destinies through other entities; but what happens is other entities end up controlling us through our lust for more power. In our daily lives we control and possess objects higher quality, and interestingly enough now in this new age of illumination through so many computers we seek to  possess others vicariously by going there and projecting ourselves through the internet....the act of even coming into these chats could be understood to be a demonic act of possession as we understand what demons do demonstrably...I imply logically that the act of transcending our physical bodies to embody something else is a demonic act because we seek the control and possession of others through these other digital realms.

You believe all these people and businesses are telling you the truth when it comes to keeping your attention on the internet so will keep reading their social content, buying their products. It is all demonic possession literally. These other entities wish to control your every though implicitly so you crave their control over you...you willing are being deceived by design. Ever leave your cell phone at home?

The idea of possession - taking control of the power of heaven is the oldest sin of all - original sin. We are all constantly striving to control - persuade others through "the new digital domain" to make our lives more entertained, to be famous, and all the other demonic traps these digital domains provide so long as we are willing to sacrifice something in return for "true salvation."

Now I do not proclaim to understand true salvation...but I have faith in that exists without having to buy something...trade something for it or possess others in a way that would yield this quality.

In AC David never says or does a kind thing ever! His every move is extremely evil and sinful. Every thing he does is deceitful....I doubt if the makers of the film realized this quality about David....this is a most unusual aspect to the film...something extra-ordinary....and some would say super natural on other levels with parallels to the real world no matter how much of a work of fiction the movie is or is not.

The fact no one has ever brought this up until now is because this all meant to be hidden from all of you....those who really control you, when they possess you, remain hidden from you....and so it is with even a fictional David and his true motives in these very real movies.

Have no doubt in what I stated. You should ask yourself from which side of the gate do you see the world from and with what fruit is around you right now. 

I am not sure I approve of the brash side of RS.

The bad boy of cinema maybe? Constructively I think RBW lacks good continuity between specific shots....and is lacking in special effects in some to the point it is just something that does not fit together in the whole of the larger production.....For example in many of the shots it looks like there are just too many things from the 20th century....Almost if you filmed a near future science fiction film and the entire landscape was filled with things from the late 1800's everywhere. When you see movies about the 1980's you do not see things from the 1700's everywhere either.

Things always change....clothes, shoes, housing, transportation, buildings....so I am not sure why he is saying that RBW is a master-piece....it is not....it has quite a bit of merit; however, there are parts of it that HBO just did not have the money to film...so you don't give an artist like this a canvas with just a couple of colors to paint with and very few brushes....RS makes quarter billion dollar productions, some of RBW looks like it was filmed by first year movie students....you all know what these low budget productions look like on youtube....there are thousands of them. They are about 5 to 10 minutes usually and you forget about the even quicker.

Not sure what he is getting on about really - there are thousands of critics who really really really appreciate great productions; however, the majority of them said the exact same thing that I just did about RBW....he should be more open to criticism and move on to bigger and better things.

I may have missed such contributions but this is the first time I have seen a connection made between the Sars-CoV2 outbreak and Alien. 

I said some while ago that I went back and read my own work to see whether in the "all about everything" nature of the themes they had an application. I mentioned two but on reflection, there are more:-

1) The reason the story of Prometheus gets going is because of Peter Weyland's desire for more life.

The reason that mankind is seen as vulnerable as an entire community is that the Virus is fatal to the elderly who are being kept alive on an industrial scale in Aged Care Facilities, looked after poorly paid Immigrant Workers who with multiple jobs have in many locations brought the Virus into the workplace. Everyone dies in the real and imagined world.

2) Fifield the loudmouth know all cannabis smoking idiot is killed because he has no sense of direction. The Mutagen passed through his face mask.

If everyone washed their hands, hospitality had at-seat service and stayed at home when they were ill transmission would ease. Masks are meant to be worn by surgeons for 90 minutes to protect their patients. They don't work but why argue just wear them and ideally a face shield and gloves in enclosed areas?

3) Elizabeth driven by hubris goes in search of her Roman Catholic God.

In New Zealand and South Korea, cluster transmission has broken out in faith-based communities who argue with the science wishing to put their faith in God. 

4) In Part 11 Elizabeth and David discover that 'sin' is introduced into 'paradise' by tagging for control purposes.

The greatest experiment mankind has ever undertaken is under weigh with the introduction of the concept of Locking Down and tagging through apps. 

5) The denouement of part 11 is an argument between a rational approach which requires "Sacrifice." and a hubristic reinvention spurred on by confusion and delusion.

Sars-CoV 2 will play out it's not as deadly as Spanish Flu and kills between 1,2,3 times influenza. It is folly to think we need to destroy our way of lives to save a small number of people. The way forward is not a perfect solution it is the least worse one.

Elizabeth given the chance will destroy creation and remake it.

But to return to the beginning we think we are the centre of the Universe and can solve all problems we cannot we are a small footnote buffeted by disease, natural disasters and many other things. What we can bring to the dark confines of empty space is the ultimate paradox a love of one another. Love is essentially about putting others before ourselves. In my story in order to make the Origin Engineers remake their Covenant everyone intimately involved has to be sacrificed.

In the real world, we simply need to protect the elderly and comorbid and the rest have the right to either get on with their lives or not and accept that some will die its what we do.              

Clinging on to life, hubris and reordering everything is at the root of the real and imagined world.
