"And there's also more things, I mean the trailers at this point we really try to make sure we show the things that are more familiar, but there's so much more that we're not showing that it will be a massive mystery, for, for even for the fans."- Fede Alvarez
Buckle up, 3 weeks left.
Yep, these creatures didn't come from the standard Ovomorphs but were artificially recreated in a lab (using the black goo I suppose?). In the final trailer, there's a monitor that has an image of a Facehugger and a prompt that says "printing".
I wonder if we will see more Xenomorphs other than the Scorched.
I'm curious why the Scorched has these hook-like appendages on its feet, though:

It looks like the Scorched head is a bit more bloated than Big Chap's as well which might explain why the eye sockets look smaller. Scorched looks deformed to me, disproportionate body parts making it look creepier by all accounts. An abomination no doubt.
I like the Scorched Xenp's design, looks like a mix of 1979 Big Chap and the Alien Resurrection cloned Xenomorphs. While the Scorched Xeno appears bigger than the Big Chap, I just noticed that the skull eye sockets are smaller.

The NECA figures really give us a closer look at the differences between Scorched and Big Chap. Notice the hands and feet are dramatically different - there seem to be odd appendages on top of the feet and the hands are elongated far more than in other designs:

I suspect the Scorched and the Xenomorphs on board the Romulus were not authentic replicas of the original Big Chap / Perfect Organism but another imitation - spliced with other DNA or tampered with in a way. It certainly looks that way - even the misaligned jaw, head crest shape and disproportionate body parts compared to its genetic predecessor.
Not to be that guy but making the sets reminiscence to the original alien doesn't make sense with the timeline. Also hearing the stuff that comes Mr. Hawley's mouth, makes me very skeptical and doubtful that this is going to be a good ALIEN story.
I'm so stoked. Gonna start my budget for goodies.
Looks good...Fingers crossed.
Cool. I'll check it out. I'm hoping for a Dark Horse style.
That appears to be a NECA Predator bone throne.

Interesting Queen head crest style prop in the background... looks like part of a Hive wall, but curiously has a very Queen / Praetorian crest curvature.
The Big Chap in a fossilized rock reminds me of Han Solo frozen in carbonite.

I wonder if that was intentional.
Alien: Romulus figures shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2024! (Spoilers)

Love the dark atmosphere in Romulus from everything I've seen so far. Partly reminds me of Ron Cobb's nightmarish industrial interior designs.
I can't get David Attenborough's voice out of my head now.
Another still of the Xenomorph in hunting pose, with its tail pointed towards Kay.

Much like the Covenant Neomorph and Xenomorph.

According to the recent Disney leak, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is coming, and we might see more Engineer environments, including OP Engineer weapons.
Hopefully it will have that tension from the first three movies. Every other movie after the first three lack that tension. I like what I've seen in the trailers, but sometimes a trailer or even extra material don't reflect the movie (Covenant anyone?).
Yes that part in particular seems to be identical to the Aliens scene but as a whole I don't think (well I certainly don't hope) it's a rehash of the first two films as a whole. Trailers don't always match the direction and whole content of the film and the new aspects in the series such as the younger characters and their background, technology and new xenomorph life cycle will hopefully make sure Romulus stands on its own legs, although too many throwbacks/nostalgia is indeed treading on a thin line for sure, generally speaking.
Here's hoping Romulus will distinguish itself enough from the first two films while still being in the same vein.
It looks good, but honestly feels like a rehash of the first two Alien movies. There's even a scene with the two characters that mirrors Hicks and Ripley's characters when he shows her how to use the rifle.
They reverse-engineer facehuggers using the black pathogen? That could explain the black facehugger. Brilliant idea and gives me Dead Space vibes where they recreated a copy of an alien artefact.
As pointed out by Mike from Mike's Monsters, the monitor on the right says "printing" and this could be how the Facehuggers are made.

And the black goo is used as an ink?
David Attenborough: "It was at this moment he knew he fucked up"
I am sold. One month to go.
Just 4 weeks, the excitement...

I wonder if MU/TH/UR 9000 (model 6000 in the original film) is a reference and shares similarities to the rogue AI HAL 9000. Not that I think it'll start singing Daisy Bell but maybe it's programed or adapts to test the scavengers for results and start switching doors on and off in the station.
Lovely stuff! Thanks Nebula :D

"What the f*** is this shit!? A f*****g teddy bear? Jesus what's wrong with people these days!? Back in my day the corporate logos where hard, made by stiff men with a pair balls that tried to achieve something! Now we have these confused kids who can't think straight, occupied with their little feelings and unicorns god forbid they'll touch a pencil again!!"
