BigDave. Food for though....
O'Bannon's Starbeast design V Giger's Necrocom IV

O'Bannon's design (while not dissing on it) was an unremarkable B-grade creature feature.
The Necronom design is in a league of its own. Aggressive, terrifyingly grotesque and perverted. Strikingly fearsome.
I just really think they need a new director. Same as the director of Blade Runner 2049 improved upon the original, I think someone with an actual imagination like that could elevate the prequel series out of the amateur bin.
All of the art fascinates me to this day. I do wish they kept more Shaw. I remember when we are all theorizing what Covenant would be many moons ago. Shaw played a really cool part. I even remember a theory that she was the one that crashed the Juggernaut during Davids bombing.
I believe very much that the tennessee is strong as a character, he is the best friend of Branson this resonates as an echo of history, depicting an icon of justice on future fiction, I would like it to be so in the next chapter. Daniels was a character hurt by pain, a person who has suffered a gap, but who made him stronger in front of adversity, if she would be alive in the next chapter as a captain or in the role of Hybrid Queen, I think we both have characters, would be exceptional for a Fan, a character like that evolve from hero to villain. David and his transmission to Wayland would have reason to believe that he brought Daniels to the lake and showed him the colony created by him and for it he served a leader, asking him to become his Queen, while he organized the conquest for the Engineers.
"Au Revoir Shoshanna"
Its a total shame what they did to Shaw's character. I think they wanted to keep consistency with the lack of character development in the prequel series by killing her off, off-screen.
I feel the like the extensive experimental scenes should have been shown on Shaw rather than Daniels. Viewers seem to love Shaw but Daniels was totally forgettable which is why there will be little to no emotional response to Daniels experimentation.
"why does it always seem with Ridley that the concept art/ideas are better than what they used or didn't cut? "
I think thats a Question for those who worked on the Projects lol, Ridley Scott and who ever from FOX was closely attached would have had the Final Say in all of this, i will say that the Hammerpedes were Interesting, the Trilobite too, and from Alien Covenant the Neomorph was interesting, i just feel its a shame we never got a Higher Budget to portray them as the latter Concept Renders which the Neomorph was based off was very interesting. And much better than some of the earlier concepts that we have seen released.
so sometimes they do get it right.
ATI you are one post away from a score of 666...
Make it something Satanic ;)
I think its interesting to ask Rappace, i think as her Image was going to be used in the movie she has a bit of a right to give her TWO Cents to how they portray her likeness. I however dont see her as someone who is really against her being depicted in scenes of depravity and torture though, she certainly would not complain or cant complain if her Corpse showed Nudity etc as she is someone who is not afraid to do these kinds of scenes in movies.
I think she was disappointed with how Alien Covenant had been done, because i think she felt that there really was more to her story that could have been explored, rather than by-passed with only The Crossing giving her some Screen Time.
I think his ideas are not actually too original to be fair..... but visually he has a good idea, so he is certainly someone you would want on board to give some ideas to how visually something could come across on screen, i would like his ideas pitched to someone who can add their own to them and come up with a Good Plot.
Then allow Blomkamp to have a great amount of input with Ridley Scott on how Visually to portray things on screen.
Edit:
I will add that this kind of role is something that can really make/break a movie. If HR Giger was never considered as inspiration and also allowed to work on ALIEN it could have been a much more different movie, if we then took away O'Bannon's ideas as far as the Life-Cycle then ALIEN would have not stood out from any other 70's/80's kind of Sci Fi/Horror Alien/Monster Flicks.
You can at times Question those working on the Project and make the Final Call....
I think with Prometheus, as they changed the direction to tone down the Xenomorph DNA, they took this one step further by changing some things like Fifield Concepts, right down to giving us just a Toxic Avenger looking Zombie... Which maybe was because they felt the other ideas were TOO Alieny.
With Alien Covenant there was some very much HR Giger Aesthetics that they had been told to tone down, there was a lot of cool concepts and props in Davids Work-shop and i feel we just could not have enough time to explore these in the movie as it was already trying to cover so much in such a limited time.
Good points regarding Military AI....
The whole Aliens Franchise had a flawed Agenda from the point of the Company and its pursuit of the Xenomorph, especially if some was in the know a bit... then the way they went about their business was flawed.
It would indeed have made more sense to send Synthetics on Missions first, to scout and observe..... what we have now could be a company who have NO Morals and would go to any depths to obtain what it wants regardless of Human Life. But we have many many occurrences in life were some Higher Power Humans have little or no concern for the suffering or potential dangers to other Humans, as its only their own gains that matter.
But if RS reveals that AI is playing a Larger Role, and AI goes a bit like David where he does not view himself as a Tool/Servant, then having AI pulling the strings and Humans being Pawns to allow them to obtain the Xenomorph could be a very interesting and sinister plot twist... and certainly any AI who thinks along the lines of David would have no concerns for the well being of Humanity. But a interest in obtaining their Original Brothers Creation.
Well there is always a Market for these kinds of movies... I mean the TMNT movies (recent ones) would be like way cool when we was kids, so 8-14 years old, but when we get past the age of 25+ its like Meh! lol
Why not? The chances that it would be worse than Prometheus and Alien Covenant is small. Aliens had good characters in it.
I like the idea that it would be a movie that us under water, they had a scene like that in AR which is my favorite scene in it.
By now I would rather have Cameron direct an alien movie than Scott for kind of obvious reasons.
Totally Agree it was poor writing really, but then i guess we only really see Anakin become more Force Aware in the Attack of the Clones, and Luke in the Empire Strikes back... It did appear that Rey was very powerful with the Force for such little training, almost like it was Natural for her.
Which is why i think the reveal she was no one special and anyone can use the Force, was a load of BS! i think the next movie they have to reveal her as being SOMEONE extremely important and maybe the True Chosen One would be fitting
Those that David bombed were not very impressive and they did not make sense in Prometheus so they should introduce something that is more interesting in the next movie. Hopefully they will do something impressive in the next movie, they should at least contact Huante and let him do some things. I posted something about the Alphas before so I think that the idea about that is something that they can find influences from.
I think that Ingeniero has an interesting point about those that are above the Engineers in the hierarchy. This is something that I hope that we will see in the next movie, I would much rather have that than another David story.
Critters5: I really hope that it will be better than Alien Resurrection. It must be better than it and Alien Covenant because they are not very good but then with the route of artificial intelligence it might hit AR quality if they make it close to Covenant (story- and character wise).
“Tennessee could be the new protagonist of the story, maybe meeting an evolved Daniels face to face.”
Maybe if they develop his character, right now he is a joking guy in a hat. It is not that I get mad when I see his character but we were never told anything about him in the movie. We got a clip on the www when he said something about what he wanted to achieve there and so on but he was just a blank slate in the movie, like most of the characters. Nah I think that they need to get someone that knows how to write interesting characters because they failed with that in both AC and Prometheus.
Hopefully Disney will not make a family friendly version of it, that wold suck. Let the queen be something that will show up later, I think that it is too early for it now.
Looking back at the Crocodile Dundee movie I guess that I would have appreciated it when I was a kid but now I am probably like “nah”. This is something that I will not care about. Can’t they do something new? Unfortunately this just seems lazy to me but if people want to watch it then it is up to them.
“As an Australian Im not sure if I should laugh, cry or apologise for this...”
To paraphrase Newt: You don’t have to apologize, it is not your fault
The emperor used a light-saber in episode 3 and who knows what he did when he was alone? ;)
Ha ha ha! Leto, that was fun as hell. :D
Rey? She is over-powered and boring. She basically trained herself in episode 8. It is not interesting to follow a character that is written as almost being perfect from the start.
Hopefully the Engineers will get their revenge on David in the next movie. Maybe they could rip his head off again or something worse? Perhaps they can kill him so we can go on with something more interesting.
That bird picture that Ingeniero posted looks interesting. Why does it look like a bird? Are the female Engineers supposed to look like that?
I would not mind some flashbacks with Shaw and David if she is more like she was in The Crossing (the promo-thing for AC) but not the way she was in Prometheus.
Alright since it is me I got to ask: is it possible for a guy to play flute without it looking gay as hell? This is not meant to be an insult to gay people but I can't help but to think about that when I see it. Maybe I am a bit strange but it could fit wit the sex metaphors that Giger made.
Thank you for the recognition dk. Those juggernaut close ups were tough to get in screen grabs without the Prometheus ship or Lifeboat in the shot. And yes, the sensory or whatever type instrumentation pushing out the juggernaut boundaries is nice to wonder what function it serves. I hope a great deal that we get at least a small glimpse into the construction (growth) of Engineer tech.
"Its so inhuman, totally 'wrong' in terms of our design functionality and aesthetics. Timeless classic!"
That's exactly it IRaptus.
That's funny dk, thank you.
I might have to show a heavy fist with my artificial actors and prompt an actor's strike. To be honest, they are quite demanding. That would push back the Spring release date for the film but give us more time for skills development and additional trailers/short films to analyze. It's pretty obvious I'm desperate for news...I'm making my own Alien movie with NECA Alien toys because Fox strung us out with a sequel update promise last September.
What baffles me most his how all of these incredible concept artworks we are seeing were rejected, there was the potential for the best Alien movie yet in all of this that was cut from the prequels especially AC.
Wow more incredible art work which would have made this movie kick ass too bad Ridley has no spine for real gore.
Ahhh thanks! I couldn't work out the connection between the the snail and Anubis lol XD
I see it now! Makes sense for those protrusions to be sensors of some description. Such an amazing ship design. Its so inhuman, totally 'wrong' in terms of our design functionality and aesthetics. Timeless classic!
http://www.alien-covenant.com/topic/47377
Just a weird observation lol! I have seen others delve into more obscurity than this!
I was trying to point out that part of the Juggernaut looked like sensory organs (eyes, ears, nose) much like a snail or dog.
Sorry dk i missed the thread, whats the reference? Looks intriguing!
Juggernaut design functions and aesthetics?
Agreed with BigDave, the droids looks very Bloomkamp-esque. Not a bad thing, One thing Bloomkamp does supremely well is with his visual designs. Very gritty and brutally functional. I would still like to see what he could do with an Alien film.....just not that Alien 2.5 script lol
Ingeniero You are all so charitable in your review of my material.
Feel proud of the feedback. I would not call it charity. The improvements are observable watching and listening from the first trailer to now. The improvements seem obvious to me. Honestly, I am more interested in your project than Awakening.
Two are sensors in their own right- could it be true for the ship?
Well, it shows Noomi has good taste, read the script and has an eye for what would make sense. David supposededly 'cared' for her, which wouldn't have resulted in the mess we see in the other drawings. This rings clear in the fact he saves a picture of her, and in the end, did not disturb her face (which the face might equate to the 'soul' for the soul-less). Or...the eyes in particular.
Some of the other drawings seem very odd, as if the story or Giger wasn't paramount in the art (looks like Fly movie art). I don't see a biomechanical bend to these, but it's late LOL.
"So you can bet David could read and stored the information on the Door to the Big Head Ampoule Room, and also the markings on the Big Head Statue or indeed any other place where Engineer Writing was. The same has to be said about Planet 4 too. We also dont know how long he spent studying the Engineers Hologram and Control room in Prometheus, in the movie we cant be sure how much time passed while David was alone in the Juggernaught."
BigDave, that is exactly what I was trying to portray. Thank you BigDave and others that look past the low production value and see the story I'm trying to tell. I really appreciate it.
dk, thank you for noticing. I found better sound effects in iTunes. And, not to give too much away, narration. Yes, I am trying to improve the production value and it is safe to say the "trailers" are still concept stage in quality. You are all so charitable in your review of my material. I'm still going to run all of my still images through additional software (Adobe) for light animation.

The end product will look entirely different (hopefully a positive experience to look at with others than myself) and the overall message will be decoded. There will be no cryptic encoding. I want to clearly explain how the Bishop on LV-426 was transferred eggs to the Sulaco. It will not be Pixar quality but please know I'm working to make the best product for this community.
A Human-Interests-Centric Bishop
I think of Bishop as a product of his maker. Yes, there were versions sold to the military but I believe that the value of the xenomorph technology clearly prioritized in the Special Orders would supersede in the end and "Behavioral Inhibitors" or whatever Bishop tried to placate Ripley with in explaining modern Artificial Persons safety after she rejected his cornbread.

On Fury 161, Michael Bishop in desperation screamed "how much we could learn from it!" when he was supposed to convince Ripley they were going to destroy the xenomorph. This was a breakdown from the plan.
I only expect a more well-mannered Special Order 937 deliverer to the Company with the Bishop Artificial Person models. All of them.
Even the military issue Bishops. Why not? Send them out to the most remote locations to bring back the xenomorph tech. Does anyone want to argue that the military didn't want the xenomorph technology for the Weapons Division or gain funding or influence with Weyland-Yutani by handing it over to the Company.

Ati, I watched Aliens a couple of weeks ago after more than a decade...maybe longer.

I read that Alan Dean Foster had to really consider what was included in the Alien: Covenant Origins novel because he did write the novelization of Aliens and wanted to reconcile with later characters in the story line.
Nice development. I like to think of Bishop as a good guy, but this is fan fiction and would help explain that A3 egg. It would also show some level of regret when he asked Ripley to deactivate him.
The sound effects and animation are better and smoother on this one too!
dk - True.
Davefried81 - Thank you for the kind words. Matt Hatton's comments on his instagram page contain several interesting pieces of info about the secrets of Covenant.
Thx for the teaser Ingeniero, and congratulations. I like its ost very much.
I think the idea that Bishop is a bad guy won't be popular among fans. But I like it. 8)
'The idea that Bishop had a secret Agenda/Mission would make sense for how those Eggs got onto the Sulaco.' - You're agreed BigDave.
BigDave - My pleasure. I've just found the Weyland Yutani image, I like it very much. 'Weyland Yutani's shuttle failed to escape from LV-426' is the original title of the picture.
