@jbsmit3, I have to agree as well about the time travel. Is time travel okay in films? Sure. But is time travel acceptable in this particular film? No, I don't think so. It's used as a framework to help human beings understand what is happening in their miniscule little human minds. But unlike a lot of films, I wouldn't have a problem with certain things in Prometheus being completely incomprehensible--that's kind of the point of coming into contact with truly alien life. We shouldn't be able to go all "CSI" on their technology, writing, language, etc., and expect to learn much of anything from it. (Unless it's David, but even that is a stretch.) The only way I would accept time travel in Prometheus is if it's a technology used solely by the Space Jockeys, and in a way that does not directly involve the Prometheus crew. So I would have a big problem with the Prometheus crew being transported back in time with a Space Jockey ship and somehow causing it to crash, thus leading to a "fossilized" Jockey derelict being discovered in Alien and theorized (and actually true) to be millions of years old. Besides, let's suppose Space Jockeys are capable of more than "mere" time travel. What about inter-dimensional travel? Is a human being even capable of surviving in a higher dimension? We are complex meatbags, but at the end of the day, just meatbags. Maybe I'm going off in the wrong direction...

I think a sequel to Prometheus would take place on the Alien homeworld, and we'll find out just why Weyland Yutani are so damn interested in the creature. . .

I hope these proto-Xenomorphs we'll apparently see, look even scarier then the original ones! I'd have thought they have to be, for this movie to be truely scary. . .

So many movies just don't live up to the hype. I hear about an intriguing premise, and my thought process often goes, "What? No. Crazy idea. You can't." And then I see the film, and it's sub-par, and I think, "You didn't." But it's a rare film where I think, "What? No. Crazy idea. You can't. You...did!" I believe Prometheus will pass this litmus test. I'm ready for one hell of an unsettling experience.

@Cypher: I think the real horror of the xenomorph has always been less about what the creature looks like and more about its nature...what it does, how it lives, how it perpetuates its species. Don't get me wrong, I love the xeno design, and I'm a big fan of creature-horror. But the ALIEN series has always been at its most frightening when focusing on the aspects of body horror and parasitism that are so core to the nature of the xeno. Those elements were shirked somewhat in ALIENS, in favor of more intense action, so I'm not totally surprised that the Queen Fight didn't scare you. I mean really, as awesome as that scene is, it pretty much follows "giant-monster-fight-scene" formula. My point here is this: Prometheus can be utterly terrifying without giant monsters. That being said, I have a feeling we're going to get our fill of awesome alien creatures by the time the credits roll. But the parts I'll be looking for, the parts that are really going to follow me out of the theater and into my nightmares, are the same as they have been since 1979...the terror of a creature whose core mechanic is the invasion, subversion, and corruption of the flesh. I pick up strong hints of those elements just from the teaser, and if I had to guess, they will be a huge theme of the movie itself.

True Cypher. The movies are less and less scary as the directors make the Xenos more and more animal like and less Alien...

I think the next/final trailer is released next month, by what I've heard. . . I personally think it'll be attached to the release of Wrath of the Titans.

I think I watched them all so far. I Kept trying to see if I could deduce something about Prometheus from Ridley's scribbles : ) Watching these gives us a good idea about what Ridley enjoys about scifi! EDIT: Crap didn't see the H G Wells one yet...

@danrald Robert.A.Heinlein, wrote Stranger in a strange land, also wrote Starship Troopers I believe? The book gave more of an insight into the "bugs" mind set and the comparisons/similarities of human and bug ambitions and politics

Ridley only introduces each episode. He really doesn't do much overall.

Being the executive producer and creator of the show I think it is safe to say he holds great sway over the stories being told. Also it seems just a bit too coincidental that he himself created this show just before his foray back into science fiction premieres. I think this is an outlet for him to explain what he drew inspiration from and why.

No way we'll know before June, but if some version of one does actually come from the SJ anytime before the end of the film- It will probably be a helluva lot bigger than the original, and a whole lot freakier looking too, if that's even possible. I would imagine, since they inherit certain genetic traits from the host, it will be even smarter as well. So long as it doesn't speak... The zenos in Cameron's Aliens didn't seem as smart, but the original was a stealthy and cunning creature. Seemed like it enjoyed terrifying it's victims! OK, maybe it just enjoyed terrifying me... I really hope there is a creature in this film that is as original and shockingly frightening and Giger's alien was. Not even sure it's possible, but I can dream, right?

Yeah I'd definitly say it'll be bigger, going by the size of that humanoid/SJ we've been lead to believe is in the movie. Yeah it'll be more intelligent for sure, but yeah I doubt it'll speak. . . Lol. I'm hoping that aswell!

Lol @ Centaurian_slug! I'd have thought a SJ based xenomorph would only take on certain characteristics from it, size perhaps aswell as a higher level of intelligence. . . But you maybe right!

....been trying to imagine this new creature...being an artist an 3d modeler....if it was up to me,....I would make it white and luminescent and also exaggerate certain features like the jaw and the head....the SJ trunk would definitely be omitted.....it just gets in the way.....mmmhhh....that guy who did do the creature designs for Prometheus said he has never worked harder....ultimately I want the new zeno ( presuming their will be one ) to look rather horrific but sleek and stealthy at the same time.....how will they beat the original design?....is it even possible?

...the one thing u wanne avoid is making it look like the baby in Alien Resurrection......it almost worked IMO.....but their was something missing....something major....I think in the end it looked to human....it should'nt have had eyes and I think it's skin colour was all wrong....

I built a full-sized Horta for halloween when I was a kid using scrounged plywood, chicken wire, paper mache, and rolls upon rolls of masking tape. When ity was done I put it on wheels and had it chase me around the neighborhood trick or treating. Seeing this really takes me back. Nice work and thanks for sharing your work!
