Ridley Scott already stressed in many interviews that we will not see the classic Xenomorph from past ALIEN movies. What is in store for us in the new movie? With all the PG-13 talk, the wish to see Giger's darker creation seem to be quickly diminished. The creature design has to exhibit some sort of sexual-biotech content. Part of the brilliance of Alien is that it harkens to a fear of inter-species rape. The question remains, "how will this be portrayed by Space jockey race?"

Two words: detachable genitals. It could be a symbiotic being that contributes to the fertilization of the SJ or engineer species. Xenos = egg>facehugger>host>chestbuster>Xeno. SJ's could have their own more twisted and sadistic way to procreate. Just a thought. Sing along kids "Detachable Peni/Vaginus" lol

Do you people ever wonder about Adam & Eve, and how they are banished from Eden? What is the forbidden fruit? In a more familiar Biblical story, the serpent, or Satan, merely seduced Eve. In Gnostic writing (maybe something pre-Christian or other), a serpent humanoid made love to Eve to give birth to Cain & his descendants. This is supposed to be the Original Sin. Scary?

The forbidden fruit represents knowledge. I think the gist of the story was to convince the masses it is in their best interest to stay ignorant and not question the church.

Engnr, I too am wondering if they've given Giger/Huante total carte blanche for the creatures. Sadly, contrary to my initial expectations, I think Giger's contribution lies in the interior environment features rather than some of the denizens, but I could be wildly wrong, as it would be criminal to relegate the 'Father of the Alien' to a mere feature design as input for this film. I think as well as Huante's contribution, Ridley Scott may have had Giger designing a real show-stopper (if indeed there is one) along the lines of the 'Necronomicon' images you kindly posted above. The serpent one is recognisable as the Alien but in elongated form. There was a very brief image of a rearing serpent-like thing with a darting, pointed tongue in the leaked trailer many months ago, do you recall? I really want to see slithering Biomechanoids in this alluding to some sort of proto organism that is part responsible for the original Alien form.

Translated many times many different ways and usually all in an attempt to control Yeah Okay so I can't have an opinion? The Adam and Eve story was brought up in this thread that is why it is relevant to Prometheus. if you think what I said is religion bashing that is your problem.

@Mekja-Tek, it is interesting the fact you use 'detachable genitals' although I don't see them being re-attached. I have always had the belief that the Engineer and Xeno are contribed by some sort of parasite. The xeno appears to bond with the dna of the host. I am under the belief that the 'progenitor of the xeno' as Scott has said in interviews could be a parasite that joins with a higher organism to create the Engineer? Perhaps the large xeno type creatures which have also been mentioned are like cattle, whom are used as hosts to the 'facehugger' or 'white worm'; the Engineer emerges due to some sort of joint symbiotic relationship. As humans are less evolved and more barbaric the introduction of us into the mix creates the more deadly or malevolent xeno............. Maybe these large xeno's lay the eggs for the facehuggers, which would usually just contain the infant white worm that we have seen a glimse of, and because of the human in the mix the facehugger is created after the mutant human(s) fully evoles into the 'progenitor to the xeno'.

I think this is more about a movie concept than the bible :)

The story of Prometheus is a Creationist story.

Sure and from what I have read based on Scientology rather than any type of religion. Even changing Shaw's concept of her own beliefs on religion. But after all it is just a move so no one should feel attacked by a fictional dipiction of Alien beings creating man :)

"That depends on how one interprets the Book of Genesis." Exactly! "No, it is your problem as well because using such language either does not add to the discussion at hand or poisons the discussion at hand with unconstructive criticism." Is what I am saying "uncontructive and poison" simply because you don't agree? Are you going to tell me that religion is not about control because most religious texts are nothing but rules and regulations. Are you even serious or just a troll looking for a fight?

I am with you Biomechanic, this guy needs to stop. All you were doing was responding and contributing to someone's post on the same matter. But yet you have been targeted for some reason. Sounds like a troll to be, but I could be wrong. Could be some dude/chick that just has a beef when religious talk begins, but can't figure out who started the talk so chooses the last responding individual to target. I suggest ignoring the person, my experience is they will only keep responding turning a decent conversation into something no one wants to read.

Big on the Bio :) For sure open forum and no need to take things so personally. This about Aliens, Robots and Therone doing naked push ups, not Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Jokes, no offence intended :)

@Biomechanic.....While I disagree with your statement about the tree of knowledge and the church's purpose for it....,,,,,,,,.@eahaddix is right about that story existing as part of Judaism for thousands of years before Christianity founded itself upon the Jewish faith; there are thousands of examples that tell the same story and never deviate on the finer details or doctrine......There is no reason we can't have a civil discussion or disagreement about the matter rather than lose our heads. We're all capable of displaying the character of intelligent people......let's agree to behave as though we are. What do you say guys?.....@eahaddix?......@Biomechanic?

Biomechanic

MemberOvomorph02/11/2012
I know that the story predates Christianity and I don't see how it makes any difference to what I said. Whether written by the Jews and taught in the synagogs or interpreted by Christians and spread by the Christian churches it was a way to tell people how to think. I call that control. I was trying to have civil discussion but I will not allow my opinion to be silenced without a valid reason. This is the last I am going to discuss this here though because we are very off topic.

Right so now that we put away the controversial topic of religion we can get back to the safe discussions of detachable gentiles and Giger's sexually deviant designs. : )

Gigers designs are very bio-mechanical-sexual... they provoke much thought. I can detect "Sil" in one of the portraits posted on this thread. I find it interesting that perhaps the sj have detachable genitals. That could be the facehugger.... however, I do believe there will be a human aspect leading up to the xenomorph that we call the Alien. It is hostile, has no remorse... much like that of some prior "human" postings along this thread. Isn't it strikingly odd that when religeon is thrown into conversation that many of us "humans" express hostility without remorse towards a fellow human being?

Yeah it was off topic lol! I am getting a kick out of the detachible genitalia (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) idea. But I will roll with it. Giger is one hell of an artist. I have had very in depth conversations with my bestfriend about giger and his works. We are both really big fans of giger. I would love to see more of his work brought to life on the silver screen, and this film is definatly looking like it will showcase alot more. I personally am very happy that after all the crap that giger has gone through with hollywood, that he is still willing to put into it. And very grateful that Giger and Scott have maintained a relationship enough for him to be brought on board this project too. So let's raise whatever glass we have; whethere it be of pop, coffee, water, booze, juice (mine is coffee) and drink one to Hans Rudolf "Ruedi" Giger!

This thread reminds me of a parody rap video on Youtube produced by some white guy who dances horribly. The chorus goes something like "Show me your genitals, show me your genitals. Genitalia!" Pretty funny stuff. Forgive me for being vague, but I just can't remember the guy's name, and I'm not about to go throwing around "genitals" as a search string while I'm at work. : )

Every time I reply to this post it seems to get deleted. Hmmm? Hope this one goes through... detachable reproductive appendage and all. Now observe the first piece of art in this post, it made me think about the worm/tentacle thing from the leaked trailer. Now the interesting bit is that the creature/being is seated in what looks like the SJ's device. There's a glowing screen above the head on the left, and beside we see what seems like the three sarcophagi seen in the teaser. Even though the layout in artwork is not in the radial pattern as the chamber from the movie, I think this piece might be a hint of something of the DNA everyone keeps mentioning. That encased creature has a xeno-like face. That hand appears to be another larger being compared to the one in the chair. Do you remember the Comic-Con image with a bio-mech looking hand that look like it activated the holographic projection close to the armrest?
