I really think its going to be David in the SJ seat. I don't think they have the time to introduce though I would love it a new more SJ accurate race of Engineers. I think they will shoehorn it home.
Great points Bigdave. A few nightmarish possibilities.
Dr Shaw looks back in Pitty towards David as he is taken away, no Emotion on his Face, BLANK, she thinks back to how her and David started to gain some trust and made a Covenant, only for Dr Shaw to then Erase his Memory for her own Protection. With David gone, she now has No Protection, she only has but FAITH in these beings are far from the Malevolent Species who wanted to Destroy Mankind that they had encountered on LV-223
This gets Elizabeth Shaw to think about her FAITH, in times of Need and Comfort her Cross Provided her with Protection. She breaks away from Remek and chases after David.
"David, wait, wait"
The Two Engineers look towards her with a Hostile Cautious Look upon their Faces.
However Remek nods towards them.... they release David, for a moment.
Dr Shaw runs up to David and asks for her Cross back, he obliges and hands it back to Elisabeth. David Genitally places it around her neck and says "i hope your makers are as kind, as you are to me"
Dr Shaw then embraces and hugs David, while doing so she slips him the Flash Drive, and Dr Shaw then gives David a Smile. Could Dr Shaws Moral Compass and Guilt over her Double-Cross with David, have lead her to give him back his memories. This is a risk, but it appears in that moment at least with this Data, David would be able to at least communicate with the Engineers.
Dr Shaw returns to Remek, as the Towering Engineers take David away, Remek notices the Cross and he makes a comment "That is a interesting Pendant, may i ask why you took it from that Abomination"
Dr Shaw Replies "I gave it him for Protection, but he does not have FAITH in it"
Remek asks "FAITH" to which Dr Shaw replies "this Cross is a symbol of my FAITH, my Faith in God Protects me"
Remek notices the Shape of the Cross and replies "a symbol of Sacrifice of yourself to GOD?"
Dr Shaw replies Bluntly "No, a symbol of my Lords Sacrifice for me"
Remek points to the Giant Statues surrounding them "These are our Ancestors, we Sacrifice ourselves for GOD"

I am sure RS is aware of what some of the comments and speculation on the internet regarding the Franchise is like, i dont think he comes on places like here to have a look.... someone at FOX etc may have people who do so and then raise some points with RS.
RS is a person who likes what he does and typically dont care TWO Hoots what people think he refuses to watch the AVP movies because the notion of a cross over is something he is against. If people dont like his Plans he is not really one to deviate due to Public Pressure.
However FOX are the ones in control of the Franchise, they are the ones who will be paying the $$$$$$$ and if they feel Fans Reactions should be taken on board because this would increase the chance or making more $$$$$$ then they would pass them to RS and a Compromise would be made.... If RS was like Nope i wont show how the Xenomorph was made and i wont show any... FOX could ultimately just get someone else to work on the Project.
Alien movies WONT be made without FOX giving the Green Light and Funding the $$$$$ they have a lot of influence on the Franchise, but then Giler and Hill also do too.
A lot of Fans seem to be Disappointed in how DAVID is the Creator now... this fits with RS themes he was exploring, some people think RS changed it to David just as a big MIDDLE Finger to those Fans who wanted to see a more ALIENY movie than what RS had planned.. i dont think this was the case.
But i do think RS in doing so had the notion that it could Split Fans, and get Fans actually wishing it was the Engineers instead... kind of like how the whole Engineer Plot from Prometheus disappointed some Fans, they was not happy at how the Space Jockey Race was used never-mind the whole Creation Concept.... so by having it that David Created the Xenomorph, it would get some of these Fans to think "you know what, actually i would much rather it now had been the Engineers"
I dont think RS will cave in to Fans, by making it that David did not create the Xenomorph... i also think another U-Turn would do more harm..... however its still open for the Xenomorph to not be Davids Creation.
The Premise from what i was informed by a Source (which until we see Paglen/Green Draft) i can not voucher as legit or not.... but they claimed David would RE-CREATE IT (Xenomorph or Deacon) and by showing us HOW it could be Re-Created, with some clues to what a happened on LV-223 we would have enough clues to KNOW how the Xenomorph MAY have been Created.
Now we got the New Story by Harper and Logan, it appears from earlier drafts, it was a case of David Re-Creating the Xenomorph, but this was changed for the latter drafts/shooting draft.
So David CREATES the AC Xenomorph using the Formula and Experimenting with the Engineers Black Goo, it is still Open and Possible that the ENGINEERS or other Race, can still RE-CREATE/EVOLVE Davids Creations.
But this is no Guarantee.... it is likely however such a Race decide to Take/Use Davids Creations and Fall Foul to them and ending up on LV-426.
But then can we totally rule out, that David uses Synthetic DNA to Evolve the Creation and David becomes the Space Jockey? We cant rule this out, but i think this would Further upset the Fanbase than the Derelict not being Ancient Event and David created the Xenomorph. But it would however be a sign of Ultimate HUBRIS for David, which is a Theme RS appears to be exploring. (Hubris).

Personally, I think RS's age and the moderate performance of Pr & A:C means that we may well only see one more movie directed by RS. Scott's a busy man, with multiple projects on the go, and it takes time to get a big movie planned, shot and in theatres. I'd like to see more than one, but I predict the next one will be his swan song in the Alien universe.
More than anything, I'd like to see him make a movie free of the influence of fans, producers or money-men. Prometheus was more interesting than Covenant, despite its failings. Covenant was fun but pulled in too many directions to hold itself together. If Ridley is free to make the movie HE wants to make, we may not get a movie we had hoped for or thought we wanted, but we will get one that takes on a journey full of surprises, visual beauty and dramatic punch. . .
I think in Hindsight, maybe the way they covered the whole SJ and Xenomorph, was not the best, and maybe it needed to be a Mystery.
But RS lost control on how to evolve the Franchise after Alien, he had in the 90's a idea of how he would have a tackled a Prequel and Sequels (to Alien) but FOX went ahead with Alien R and then AVP. So RS was very interested in Answering those Questions from Alien in a way he could have control over, because he would have known if they did not do a Prequel and Answer who the Space Jockey, was his purpose and Agenda, and where the Cargo Came from etc...
RS knows that there is a change in future FOX would indeed explore these at some point and RS would not like it if those Questions are Answered in ways that would make Ridley Scott Turn in his Grave.
Some Fans would want to keep it a Mystery still, some Fans want the Answers.... i feel that down the line someone will in the future Directly Answer that Mystery be it in 5, 10, 15 or 20 years and so RS is like they may as well do it now.
I think the Xenomorph got abused after Alien 3 to be honest, but the reasons for it looking different in AR was because they have a bit of Human DNA. The Original Idea for the Prequels was simple... These Engineers had a outpost on LV-426 and they had been experimenting with various forms of Xenomorph Warfare, which appeared to be Genetic Experiments using their Creation Tool (Nano-Scarabs) on a Organism that the Xenomorph DNA originated from.
Prometheus decided to tone down the Xenomorph connection but still hint that it is Genetically related to the Black Goo and Experiments they was conducting on LV-223 (change from LV-426) and these Changes were all made simply to attempt to give something Fresh compared to Xenomorphs and Queens
I think FOX should have backed some $$$$$$$$ and actually had proceeded with Blomkamps Alien 5 to give back the Queens and Xenomorphs, and allowed RS to go on with his Prometheus 2 sequel. Leaving the Derelict a Mystery but with more clues in Both Movies that would give the answers some what.
Then FOX could assess how well both movies did and then decide where to take it next based on reception of both movies and BOX office.
The way they changed it however was a attempt to please those waiting for a P2 and those wanting a Alien 5 and Alien fans who wanted the Origins explained, but Ultimately they made a movie to try and please all of these Fanbases, but they just produced a movie that never really did the job for all of them.
Thats the logical set up daliens.
If David is the Creator of the Xenomorph so that without his Bombardment and Experiments on Planet 4 there would be NO Xenomorph in Alien, then the Fact David has Thousands of Colonist does appear to be a Shoe-horned Plot that THESE Colonist end up being the Eggs, unless David Creates a Queen.
Then those EGGS must get to and on-board a Engineer Ship, Finally this ship must END up in the LV-223/426 System which i can assume is no where near Origae-6. It appears David is going to ORIGAE-6 so this takes 7.5 years off the 18 years until Alien, which means those EGGS and the SPACE JOCKEY will have been on LV-426 for no more than 10 years.
The SJ Ultimately will not be nothing more than a Space Suit, they can FIX issues of Size though by revealing a Race above the Engineers who are 12-15ft tall and are Humanoid but maybe not so Human looking. A Problem is if they go the 1979 Xenomorph and Space Jockey Aesthetic it could be a case of coming to a agreement with the HR Giger Estate.
I think that is actually the BIGGEST Question of them all....
Where do they go now, how many movies would it take as if the set up is TWO and RS makes the next one very little regarding the Xenomorph and more about AI and this does not sit well with Fans and also Bombs a bit or disappoints at the BOX Office, then it leaves FOX in a very difficult place.
Do they then invest in another movie and hope this one recovers some of the financial burden or do they just leave the Franchise alone with no Answers to the events of Alien as far as HOW/WHEN those Eggs get on the Derelict.
They would have to show enough IMO in the next movie, so that if they dont do a 3rd, then we can gather enough information to paint a picture of what happened. They also maybe have to have the next movie end in a way that leaves it open... rather than needing a sequel much like how Alien Covenant has left it that it needs one.
Just in case the Next Movie proves to be a disappointment and turns more fans off the Franchise, it would be a shame if FOX just leave it as it is.... Imagine if FOX said they are making NO sequels to Alien Covenant.
The Purpose of the U-Turn was to connect to Alien and Introduce the Xenomorph, by brushing Dr Shaw and the Engineers under the carpet its made it harder to go back and do a movie that covers the Engineers more than other themes/plots. Now they have gone the path of the literal events leading to Alien they need to stick to this.

Thanks x, yeah i would be interested in doing some and not to worry i can speak Perfectly Good Normal English, only a bit of Black Country comes across when i speak, but the older folk have very strong Black Country Accents, and yep i think even People in some places in England would find it hard to understand due to how some words are pronounced... Like Horse, is pronounced Hoss or Oss, Hand is Hond or Ond but there are some others that are commonly used even by younger generations, such as Can't is Cor, You is Yow, Haven't is ay
I see similarities between the Juggernaut with the thousands of eggs in the hold and the Covenant with its cargo of thousands of colonists. I don't believe the Juggernaut left LV223 after the outbreak because it should have been loaded wuth thousands of urns of black goo instead of eggs, there was no trace of eggs on LV223.
The idea that the xenomorph created the engineers is however far fetched, same as the idea that Jesus was an engineer.
The SJ cannot be an engineer suit, but something that inspired the design of an engineer suit. It's like the engineers painted their cave walls in the dawn of their civilization with SJ creatures.
Why not the SJ be the creator of both the engineers and the xenomorphs? Or at least someone familiar from their past?
Not sure if we'll ever find out, but we can create our own myths so which way is better? I prefer the mystery to some fanboy version that has all the premises to kill the beauty of the alien universe.

surely guys, regardless of however job Blomkamp may do it is paramount that the prequel series must be finished. or it will be nothing more than a waste of time. i put 100s and 100s of hours on the Engineers please wrap this up and put me out my misery before we go again
IRaptus they look like space cockroaches (it is even titled '501st Legion: Vader’s Fist VS Space Cockroaches’) and if we say they look good in stills they will give us the motion picture sooner or later. And considering the bigger Star Wars fanbase, it would be a box office hit. But nevertheless a crap.
The xenomorph deserves more respect so I will not subscribe to this otherwise talented artist.

Alien & Aliens were groundbreaking for their time, in their own right, and they have been chasing that magic ever since.
They chose two unknown up and coming directors for both movies and they blew us all away, they will probably only ever replicate that magic if they leave it alone for a decade or two and try and bring it back fresh for a new generation, obviously done right, but thats never gonna happen if they think they can still squeeze some profit out of it.
As we stand it needs to be wrapped up with a good sequel to AC, that can tie it all back in and hopefully answer some of the questions we all want and hope for, this could make us look at Prometheus and AC in a different light.

That being said we probably shouldn't be giving Disney/Fox ideas either lol....
A good deal of what you say isn't about "the needs of fanbase" its about what is important in making a good movie.
People agonise over the scale of the SJ and the derelict and Ridley comes out very quickly and says they are the same guys driving the same bus so all that speculation can take a hike. Whats important is they look the same and frankly their is enough difference between the LV 223 Engineers and the Paradise Engineers to make story out of it (e.g. the genetically enhanced chosen ones verses the natural critters).
The more distance I have from all of this the more several things become clear.
1) A mythos needs a structure. The difference between the catalyser and the pathogen is important and should be clear its actually very interesting story.
2) The Xenomorph was worthy of a grand answer e.g. its a booby trap of the gods to wreck Promethean like punishment.
3) Stop making crew go somewhere and all get killed movies. VARY IT.
4) Alien related movies need surprises thats what shocks and horrors us.
5) Keep you caste small and kill of people who are not red shirts that itself is a surprise. I felt Orams wife was close to that.
6) Decide whether your making formulaic Marines verses Xeno movies and if you aren't say so so all the games and magazine fans at least know this isn't for them.
7) Really make your key characters move their ground make them journey. Ripley did and Shaw and David should have. What then happens in that journeying is the changed character becomes the Alien something which worked in A 3 and went off half assed in Resurrection.
Yes, Alien vs. Storm Troopers is what we need from Disney. Darth Vader is the new Ripley. Just ask for more cooked xenos and that's what we'll get.
I think it's time to stop abusing the xenomorph. It WAS the perfect organism in the first Alien, why not leave it like that?
Ridley Scott said the xenomorph is cooked even before Prometheus and he probably used the Deacon to make Fox and some fans happy. A lot of Alien fans did not mind the lack of xenomorphs in Prometheus and cried foul when Ridley gave in to fanboys/Fox pressure and featured the xenomorph again in Alien Covenant. But there is nothing fresh to be added to the xenomorph. Every decent director knows it. Only if you want a video game style movie featuring a lot of xenos it does not mean that it would be a good movie. Ask for a new game better, so you can be alone with the beast, and let Ridley Scott finish what he started. The alien is a weapon, a parasite, I don't really want its origin explained further because it would kill its charm for good. I don't want to dissect the SJ either, it's better to leave it a mystery.
If there are many stories left to tell in the alien universe it is because Ridley Scott and only Ridley Scott expanded this universe, after he created it.
The beast is cooked but if you want to reheat it and eat it again and again with a bag of popcorn, well, it's your option. Disney will give you another AVP and Aliens sequels, even Alien vs. Wonder Woman/Superman/Spiderman.

I Moon Girl With the exception of what BD posted-accents are present but understandable, in many ways they seem to disappear in music. Here is an example of an Australian band who have a fairly thick accent in spoken word but that goes away when singing. BTW- you might get some chuckles out of this too!

I Moon Girl I listened to both BD's and IRaptus' references and had no issues understanding. I think the only thing some may not pick up on is the dry wit.
I'm gonna be honest wit ya BigDave, I would listen to one of your podcasts about the Alien franchise. I would hope I could understand it though, since you claim you may be hard to hear through our American ears (or I guess any other English speaking person), and I guess the low-life, criminally bound Aussie's as well. IRaptus pretty much summed up my whole look on those Australians down under. He understands. I'm glad he does.
OK, so really now! No more jokes! Honestly, I would at least try to listen to one of your podcasts if you did one because you seem to really know this Alien franchise stuff and all. It seems you might have a couple books worth of information posted on this website. If BigDave isn't sharing in on the Podcast, then I'm not going to listen. That is unless the podcasts are just out of this world in forum members reviews.
Honestly though, if BigDave did host The Network podcasts instead of Chris, then I wouldn't be listening to every single one, but I would like to listen to some of the first BigDave podcasts. I would assume those would be the best anyways. They might even get me hooked if they link together somehow.
So, those are my feelings on this podcast idea as of now.

Me too. I'm sure he would have loved to write all the songs. Maybe they just didn't have the character Ridley was looking for so they went and hired Gregson-Williams. I'm glad we got to hear David play "Life" in the Alien: Covenant movie. "Life" is fantastic, yet so simple. It is so much better in the movie too, but I guess that would make sense.

Its a good point, as we do see unused ideas and concepts from previous movies make a appearance in latter ones, Prometheus borrowed a bit from Star Beast, AC from one of the Alien 3 drafts, i am sure people look at unused stuff for influences for sure.
The one Prequel was the ADF Prequel book that deals with the Covenant Mission Preparations, this however wont never become a movie and i dont think we will ever see any prequels to AC or Prometheus, we may get some dialect, flash backs to explain stuff from the past. Unless the Engineers Turn up and basically are as talkative as the Predators lol (ps i dont mean the new Movie)
The Problem we have is where does the Franchise Go...
Here is the Basic Set Up.
*David is in control of the Ship, it appears he is off to Origae-6
*Daniels is aware David is David, she surely wont let him do what he pleases.
*With Daniels Dead, Tennessee would be suspicious
*The company eventually find out what David has done/plans as he sent them messages.
*Origae-6 is very likely uninhabited
*The Covenant still has nearly 2000 colonist and 1000 Embryos
*David has just TWO Face Huggers
*The Engineers Arrive at Planet 4 and discover what has happened and are not pleased.
*The Engineers will be one of a number of Parties on their way to Origae-6
*Davids Experiments end up in their Thousands on a Engineer Ship a long way from Origae-6

A thing to remember is FOX are the ones in charge, if they decide the Predators made the Engineers, and RS was not happy with this, he has to run with what they suggest or FOX would simply get someone else to do it.
Ridley Scott did not intend the route that AC had taken, he was not going to spoon feed the Xenomorph and Shoe-horn it literally and chronologically in a sequel. The Problem was not because AC had the Xenormorph it was simply how it was handled. But then we have the rumors RS deliberately handled the Beast Wrong on Purpose to Prove a Point... which i dont buy at all.
The Alien Games have also not been spectacular, the AVP games were ok especially the 2001 sequel version.
But indeed Alien Isolation worked, because of how it handled the Xenomorph, for the most part it was a unarmed Human vs the Xenomorph, outmatched and so its the up against impossible odds that gave us the Peril also the Game benefited more because it places the Player in POV. As a Movie it would not have worked as well, for example if you never saw the Game and just Watched somebody play it to completion indeed its a good experience but you never quite get the Horror as you do when playing it.
But the point is valid.... If AC never had Neomorphs, and one of the Crew was infected by a Xenomorph and so we had more time seeing the Humans get picked off by ONE Xenomorph and then it ended by us finding out another Chest Busted on the Ship, que set up for a sequel.. it may have worked better.
The more you show the Xenomorph the less effect it has, if someone had made Alien Isolation where 50% in you pick up some Guns, are accompanied by a Marine and then take on and kill ALIENS Style another 20 Xenomorphs in the Game so 50% of the way through it became more Aliens Colonial Marines then it would have cooked the Xenomorph a bit.
Why they have a very tough task ahead as their is life in the Xenomorph but it has to be handled extremely well otherwise it will loose much more credibility, the same goes for the Engineers when we look at how their credibility diminished with AC too.
