I think he's talking about Humans! Because we have the capacity to F things up like no other!!

IIRC i think the full quote from the booklet is "this universe filled with aliens, space jockeys and something much more dangerous you haven't seen yet"
But I can't confirm this until I get home. Anyone else got one to hand?
ReplySubterraneanHomesickPrometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
I strongly believe in the existence of a higher-order race (not SJs, Engineers, etc) that will maybe be featured in the beginning of the movie and towards the end. Lindelof and others have hinted at how the events in the movie will make us feel tiny at the grand scale of the universe - and arguably also in the race pecking order. And I believe that a glimpse of the Gods and their punishment for our acts, dangerous in that sense, would show us that quite eloquently.

Like your thinking SoX2000. We can see the big blue guy in the trailer but.... I dont think ridley and the studio would want to reveal the real enemy in the movie too much. Maybe the disk above the waterfall is a ship and maybe the blue guy came from their too, to have a look just like us. Then the jockeys come... who knows but we have not seen the real enemies yet, ridley would not let that happen at all.
ReplyCBT1979Prometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
Maybe it's the Flood from Halo ^^
nah, maybe someone who is even superior to the Aliens and SJ's.
But i really wonder how those would look like.
ReplyPredatordreadsPrometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
Maybe this other thing Ridley Scott is talking about is the Value sized/ steroid infused Uncle Fester(Engineer) we see in the the trailer walking to the cannon. I am hoping that is the case. I 'd rather not have that be what fits inside the Space Jockey suit. Maybe the Space Jockey is the engineers failed attempt at a making the perfect weapon and due to them developing feelings of remorse the engineers decide to kill off the Space Jockeys (hince why they discover the carcass in the ampule room) and construct a better weapon by observing the conduct of the humans espicially the ones that are only about their agenda, someone that will get the job done not matter what the circumstances are. A survivor and not clouded by any conscience like their creators. The Xeno's! This is only a thought by the way. I don't want to upset anyone or get some elitists feathers all ruffled up this is only a theory. I repeat...THIS IS ONLY A THEORY.....
ReplySoX2000Prometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
I'm in the camp the believes the BBF, Blue Bald Fella, is a space jockey, and he sits in the cannon chair within a suit.
I think the something more dangerous is either:
1) Something onboard the disc above the waterfall
2) Whatever David pulls out of the Urn/Vial in the trailer.
3) Something that 2) creates from a host.
I think that 2) is something along the lines of a proto-hugger. I believe facehuggers come from splicing a proto-hugger with a space-jockey's suit, which in turn I believe is bio-mechanical therefore spliceable with the bio part.
oo oo Edit:
I don't think we'll see what he's talking about or even get a hint of it until the Film. Whatever it is I believe we've not seen it yet even in the trailers or leaked materials.

Ok so check this out, in my opinion.
"Prometheus" was a greek Titan. Zeus gave Prometheus and his brother Epimetheus the task of repopulating the earth after all living things perished in the early battles of the Gods. When Prometheus was done with creating man, he found that animals where faster, see, smell, and hear better than humans. Animals had warm coats of fur to keep them warm at night while man shivered in the cold nights. Prometheus felt sorry for man and stole fire from Olympus and Zues knowing that Zues would punish him severely.
Zues Took Prometheus and chained him with unbreakable irons to the top of the Caucasus Mountain where everyday a eagle would eat at his liver. And everyday his immortal liver grew anew.
So in my opinion, Prometheus is the Space Jockey, stealing fire, or the "aliens", and Zues is something that we have not seen yet. Something bigger and badder.

So in my opinion, check this out.
"Prometheus" is a Greek Titan. He and his brother Epimetheus were put in charge of repopulating the earth after the early battles of the Gods. Prometheus modeled men in the shape of the gods. Epimetheus made all the animals and gave them good gifts. When he was done, Prometheus noticed that animals could run faster, see, smell and hear better than man. Animals also had warm coats of fur while man shivered in the cold nights.
Prometheus, not wanting to see his creation suffer, stole fire from Olympus and Zues knowing that Zues would punish him severely. He gave the fire to man so they could keep warm and cook food. Zues did find out and chained Prometheus to the top of the Caucasus Mountains with unbreakable irons. There, everyday an eagle would eat at his liver, and everyday he would grow back his immortal liver.
So in my opinion, the Space Jockey is Prometheus, the fire is the "alien" or the facehugger, and Zues is something bigger and a lot badder than what we have seen yet. What do you all think?
ReplyXenophobePrometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
Unless the REAL SJ's we've been speculating on are actually a different being althogether, and the species we've been shown hints of in the trailer are what the Xeno-morphs use to be before the human intervention we'll see in Prometheus. . .
ReplyEGR101Prometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
@bigbirdjimmy
Interesting take. Didn't know Promey has a brother with a zoo.
I don't think our beloved Xeno is the "Fire" that Promey stole from the Higher Gods. That fire is supposed to be knowledge of arts, music, architecture, rational thinking, self-analysis etc. Xenomorph is the punishment from God. It is the Wrath of God, sent to punish Space Jockey (our Prometheus). And we humans must suffer as our Friendly God suffers. Notice how the infant Xenos burst out of the part of human body where roughly our liver is.
Also, there is an alternative take on the Greek Myth that paints Prometheus in a less heroic way. Promey is actually a jealous lesser God who envies Zeus' position as the ultimate God. The metaphorical fire that he gives to humans is not a gift but a call to rebel against the Gods. Think about it.
ReplyEGR101Prometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
Also, there are a lot of parallels between Adam & Eve story and Prometheus & Pandora mythology.

ReplyCypherPrometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
I've been thinking this for awhile. There's something far worse than Xenos, Space Jockeys, or even a combination of those 2. The Jockeys are something else's lackeys I reckon.
ReplyGuestPrometheus Forum"Something Much More Dangerous"Jan 19, 2012
@Engr101
Good call. I think you are right. The "eagle" is the alien bursting around the liver, as a punishment from "The God". Also, I like the last part about Prometheus being a lesser God and being jealous. I think it would make for a better movie.

Well the highlights of this guys work (according to IMDB) are...
The Real Ghostbusters (Top cartoon and comic, showing my age)
Men in Black I and II
War of the Worlds
The Mummy
Dreamcatcher
Signs
Blade Trinity
Hellraiser IV Bloodline
Hellboy
X-Men: Last Stand
The art that I can find by this guy seems to be about the over-emphasis and twisted forms to the human body, very reminiscent of Gustave Dore IMO

he have just a good hand ( imo )

I don't think you would compare Gustave Dore classical drawings to this Carlos guy.
It's like classical vs hip hop.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumHow far will the mutation go?Jan 19, 2012
scratch that, it seems this guy has worked on a hey of a lot of films as a concept artist.
@ Frantz, that said he did some concepts for the characters from the capcom fighting game Darkstalkers

@Snorklebottom,
You are right. Dore did an illustration of a spider-human hybrid condemned in Hell for all eternity.
My favorite is of course a winged Satan trapped waist down in an icey lake. Looks like he is waiting a long time for the ice to melt

ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumHow far will the mutation go?Jan 19, 2012
I still think that the true Xenomorph will be a combination of human, original SJ and some other species DNA. . .
ReplyEGR101Prometheus ForumHow far will the mutation go?Jan 19, 2012
I am sure if the studio or Ridley want PROMETHEUS to be in the same league as the original ALIEN in terms of cinematic horror, they would have to come up with some nasty, no-holds-barred creature design.
Yet we don't quite know what PROMETHEUS will end up as. A minimalist scifi horror like ALIEN? Or a more oblique, contemplative drama like SOLARIS, or EVENT HORIZON? An alien-themed space adventures like the horrible MISSION TO MARS? With the writer of LOST brought in, can we expect some time travel/wormhole concepts thrown in to complicate things? The trailer to 1979 ALIEN at least has one or two frames of the chestburster. You see no alien life form whatsoever in PROMETHEUS trailer. Is this a creature feature like ALIEN at all? Suspense is killing me, people.
ReplyvisualizerPrometheus ForumHow far will the mutation go?Jan 19, 2012
All of this looks like artwork for the next Resident Evil game, it´s all grotesque and twisted but not really original. Most importantly, it lacks the sexual connotations that IMO made the Xenomorph design creep under your skin and triggers your innermost fears.
