Exactly, he states it pretty plainly. I just love how everybody takes some things so literally.
Squeezing the ideas of two prequels into one film is what is clear. Not 2 Movies. Scott said originally it was planned as two films and then said he was squeezing the ideas of both of those films into one....hence the quote. Funny because when I read this, I knew somebody here was going to take it that way and go to town with this idea.......
The second Prometheus film (if there is going to be one) is NOT in development yet. Nowhere, anywhere on the net, in print or in person has anything been said that this is the case. The only thing mentioned is Fox was quoted as saying they have expressed interest in pursuing a sequel if this does well.

mcy and MindBender, you may be correct that I misinterpreted Scott's quote. I'm certainly not trying to see something (or wish for something) that isn't in the plans. I just thought the comment Scott makes and Rapace's response were a "strong indicator". A concern I would have is squeezing two prequels into one movie may be difficult.
Scott's quote...
"What we’re trying to do is squeeze in two prequels…if you explain who he was and where he came from then you want to find out where they came from and you might was to go to this place where his people come from."
Seems like a lot to put into one movie, but then again, Scott may be able to accomplish all that in 2-2.5 hrs. It's just hard not to think of this if he is trying to "squeeze in two prequels" in one movie... :-)

so there is someone who have read already the two scripts ..
Spaihts one , more cerebral ( Alien HArvest is fan made , not from him )
and Lindelof one ,,,more for everyone maybe ? more action ? who knows..
Also it confirm that every supposed leaked plot is far away from reality
Reply 1234567890Prometheus Forum2 Movies + facehuggerJan 13, 2012
One script......Spaihts wrote the original script for Prometheus and Lindelof was brought in to revise, adjust, tighten it up and change it. One script, two writers....One movie. I find it doubtful anybody we know has actually read the script let alone some imagined one for a sequel.

You guys are missing the important part of the interview. He admits that the facehugger is the connection finally. Other than the obvious Ships and race of SJs, the main connection will be the facehugger (probably in a slightly different form).
This is the aspect that readers should be happy with and clinging on to, not reading into words about "squeezing". When somebody uses that word, it almost always applies to putting as much into something as they can. Simple.
ReplyMembranePrometheus Forum2 Movies + facehuggerJan 13, 2012
That facehugger connection was not missed, MindBender. Probably like many others on this forum, maybe you included, I've suspected that connection for some time. The combination of the leaked clip of something jumping in a very facehugger manner and what David is removing from what appears to be an urn are what led to that suspicion. You're right, now Scott admits it's a connection, so that can probably be put to rest.
And I admit I appear to have misinterpreted Scott's quote on two prequels. But as for my "squeezing" comment, it's not presumptuous... merely a thought I had. I have no idea what Scott truly meant by it.
ReplyJeffomorphPrometheus Forum2 Movies + facehuggerJan 13, 2012
While I'm not arguing that he might have meant squeezing two prequels worth of ideas into one movie, he also could have meant squeezing two movies out of the material he has.
Any any event, Den of geeks reports that Ridley said this at the san diego comic-con :
This film, I’ve honestly had a better time with [it] in many years. Probably because I felt secure in having a terrific script from [Damon Lindelof]. That said, I want [Lindelof] to do the second one immediately. That’s the only reason I’m buttering [him] up.
So to me it sounds like he was working on getting a second script done back in July. Obviously that's not the same as having a green light, but it sounds promising.

Thanks for the reminder Jeffomorph. Again, I'm not trying to see something that isn't in the plans or argue with anyone. I'm just putting some pieces of a puzzle together and having fun with it. :-)

You know if you look at the high resolution image of Holloway he looks like he is rapidly growing some strange peach fuzz.

i dont think he will be a key role ... he also appear in the RED LASERS scene ...getting something from a bag ..still normal .
ReplyDavi4078Prometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
I think there is a relationship between this role
and alien because his action is quite fast and similar
to alien's. Maybe it's the punishment by Space Jockey to
the crews .
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
Hey why is there no hair in that part of space? The biomechanoid doesn't have hair, The facehugger doesn't have hair, the bald guy when the chair rises doesn't have hair, I think the key to the movie is the foreign introduction of human hair into the their genetics lab.
ReplyjujutsukaPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
With all those ampules, can we assume that they're not all full of the same stuff? There's the green goo (the maybe-proto-facehugger) we see in the trailer, but what if the ampules contain various biological matter? The bearded guy might well be exposed to something other than what Holloway is exposed to. Perhaps several characters meet several unique, grotesque fates.
For all we know, someone could be exposed to some substance and (painfully?) mutate into a carnivorous plant. (Unlikely, I know, but you get what I mean.)
If the engineers are bioformers, it doesn't necessarily make sense that every ampule would contain the same stuff.
ReplyCBT1979Prometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
Who says that only one of the prometheus crew
Will be infected and mutating?
i believe there will be many becoming something
else after the exposure with the green goo.
and it is not clear whethee tge bold guy is
a mutated human crew member or a space jockey.
ReplyJeffomorphPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
I agree Jones. Look at some of the Ampule room photos and you can see that there are different size urns. If you find a hi rez version, you can also see that there is writing on the side of the urns. Be very interesting to be able to read that writing, heh.
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
I don't remember seeing any writing on the urns anywhere. Can you point me to where to look?
ReplyKrak FoxPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
Im pretty much on board withe whole more than one kind of mutant/more than one kind of bioform in the ampules.
But the question remains - if the Beardyman ain't Holloway, then who is he and how did he come to be able to breath without a helmet (in the leaping from the APC shot, the guy he's jumping on is one of the crew wearing a helmet, indicating that a normal human cannot breath at that location without his suit. But Beardyman can! Cuz he's double hard!! )
.. If he can breath without space suit then it goes to show he is mutating into something alien and at home in the atmosphere of that particular planet
ReplyjujutsukaPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
Beardman seems like he'd be one of the mercenaries (not necessarily Holloway) judging from his haircut, unless the hair has fallen out as part of the mutation.
One thing I'm thinking is that not everyone who's exposed to one of these substances mutates and goes aggro like Beardman. I could see someone mutating and dying (horribly/painfully) due to crossed genetic wires. The resulting lifeform simply hits a genetic brick wall. Yet another might mutate into some "purer" (than human) form.
The horror doesn't have to come from being attacked or chased, but from seeing someone who was once human have that humanity disrupted and stripped away through the mutation process.

I'm with you 100% there jones.

This guy from the trailer kind looks like he could have a mohawk, hard to tell from all the smoking goop on the helmet, either he has a mohawk or a very oddly shaped head.

Also I noticed what looks like a bullet hole or something in the center of his helmet just above his hands in this third pic.

Thanks, that is weird. It looks like more of the alien cuneiform.

His hair does look like it might have that attitude. You got me thinking though about the red laser guy.

This guy looks like he has skinny weird legs. I never thought I'd say this but does anyone have a good picture of Rafe Spall's legs?

Is this a WHO AM I breakthrough?
P.S What is up with him here? Do girls make Rafe nervous?
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
Can be can be ! but we have to keep in mind another scenario :
-two or three guys in the red laser scene
-shit happen
-rafe spall >>> screaming with the helmet
Mohawk guy ( but which actor hes ? thats your job )>>> become mutated
maybe all three become mutated ....( another is approching in the corridor )
can this be the second APC crew ? you did discover that the second APC was moving too ...and it dont return with the others ...
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
Yeah so maybe we have Stannison and Milburn in the red laser crew. Makes sense since we don't see them with David and his posse. Have no idea though who mutates and into what though.
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumWho is the Beardyman?Jan 13, 2012
Ugh but also this guy looks kind of like James Embree. His head is similarly shaped.
James Embree Martial Arts
I think that video is very interesting. If you wanted an actor who was going to mutate into something that can jump around like a maniac Embree might be a good choice.
EDIT: His IMDb page has hims listed as a stunt double on Prometheus

Also, take a look at him in the air jumping off the APC. Specifically his right hand (left from our point of view) and count the fingers. Granted they could be curled, but it looks like it matches the hand on the SJ/human hybrid in the SJ chamber.

What would be weird would be the "pilot" being a sacrificial vessel for the deployment of the Alien, by design...
ReplydraekusPrometheus ForumOld Giger concepts for "Guy behnd the S"/EngineerJan 13, 2012
@Macs
While I don't think that's the plot to the movie, it would be an interesting concept. Makes sense in a way... especially if the pilot would have to be the first one to be impregnated for the rest of the "eggs" to activate. In other words the fail-safe for such a potent weapon (aliens) would be that the pilot has to be the first to die to initiate the weapon system: Deliver the payload. Become host for the first alien. Alien purification commences.

I think probably Giger would never have drawn a human with hair. This is why the humanoid in this picture is bald?
