LOL, I take it you have not seen Farscape then, I'll explain the joke I made...
There was a character called Domineer Rygel, a small green skinned puppet in a hovering chair, that the main character referred to as Sparky, and whenever Sparky farted everyone knew. Not because it smelled, but because he farted helium.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
lol
No, I have never watched Farscape.
but thanks for that explanation, and even if you were referring to me like you usually do as "Sparky" I still found that comment of yours quite funny and knew very well whatevee it was was meant to be funny!!!

@ Snorkel
Fascinating!....i will have u know that I will kick both of u and sparky of this very serious thread i started!....making filthy farting jokes...it's barbaric and disrespectful....;)

Ya mean we're "Juxtapose" ta have No Gas At All ?
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Just clarifying a point sir (lol)...
To explain why i mentioned Farscape...
It was about a guy called Cryton (dont know how it was spelt) that when testing a prototype shuttle was zapped through a wormhole (a la buck rogers) to the other end of the galaxy where he ultimately teamed up with a band of refugees from the series' bad guys.
These bad guys were known as Peacekeepers, and looked human but were prone to dying in hot temperatures. Anyways Cryton teamed up with the refugees D'argo (big guy with a squid face and a sword that could turn into a gun), Rygel (former royalty on his homeworld) Arun Sung (a rebel peacekeeper played by Claudia Black) and a blue woman who was actual a walking talking plant (cant remember her name).
To get to the point they sought refuge on a living bio-mechanical ship named Moya, whom had a character called Pilot (kinda looked like the Independance Day aliens but with more arms) that could control her (the ship was female) unless Moya felt otherwise.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
This was Moya...

This was Pilot...

And this was the original cast (D'Argo, Arun Sung, Rygel, Cryton and whatshername)...

Also the series was created by Rockne S O'Bannon (no relation, I don't think?).

"Snorky",
This be one wickedly cool looking ship...

hahaha we had the same idea at the same time
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Yeah, it had this ability called "Starburst" where Moya could charge herself with energy before zooming off somewhere to escape, similar in effect to star treks warp speed.

@ snorkelbottom
yeah yeah yeah....whatever...i will rent the stupid farscrape crap....(especially now that u have ruined the so called plot)
@ Spartacus
I have nothing against a private accidental passing of intestinal gas....but their is a time and place for everything....my thread is certainly not that place....
Behave children!..;)
Now to return to my serious thread about the fusion of the human body with that of the derelict engineer ship...and the sheer complexity of my latest suggestion.
The only one so far who added an academic and feasible response was Reimer!
A good example to both of u! he he
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
ok whatever....i suppose the pilot looks interesting....and that second from the right guy kinda piques my interest a little bit (he he)....suppose i could force myself to suffer threw something like this...
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
cryton, he was also in the later series of stargate sg1.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
yeah well Crayton can enter my Sratgate aaaanytime he pleases...
But that is completely of topic and after your filthy animal farting jokes....i got distracted.
Now to return to the scientifically thought provoking and astonishingly original theories i began this thread with...
What if the host is permanently fused with the jockey chair and as a result becomes a prisoner of the ship...forever. To be honest and extremely serious..... that does kinda tie in with the mythology of Prometheus as Reimer (the only fucking student who's been seriouly paying attention) has pointed out!
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Maybe he has to sleep in that sarcophagus during the day and has to awake every night and get in his biomechanical iron maiden as some sort of grotesque alien punishement for giving man the fruit of knowledge. Oh that evil snake!

pft, and I was told by another contributer to this site over a month ago that RS would not imitate the POWERSUIT from Independence Day, that I was just being stupid. You know this isn't a BOYS CLUB the female brain can draw conclussions just as easily as any other. Last time I checked there were two sexes. At least in OUR life cycle. The chair is sort of like an analogue for the Xenomorph, it needs a host in order to complete it's biological programming. A theory, I like the idea that once you bond with the ship via the chair you can never get out. Unless you die, then does the chair digest you and open for another host like a pitcher plant or some kind of biomechanic venus fly trap?
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
....i still see certain individuals poking fun at what can only be viewed as a well educated academic theory...yes that fine....laugh it up!....you'll see ;)

Ghost Solitaire people on this site like to argue sometimes for argument sake. I don't think it is a boy's club as I have been called stupid or at least it was implied many times.

I don't know who you are talking about that poking fun at your theory but I hope you weren't referring to me juxtapose. I agree with it.

well maybe it does become like a trap...but also maybe u only die once the ship is destroyed....so u become the ship...forever trapped in that god awful suit...that thing makes the xeno's look like beauty contestants...IMO...lol
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Juxtapose I just found this true story on the net that lends some credibility to your theory...
Morbidly obese man found fused to chair he sat in for two years dies in hospital

I made a play on a possible ending on another thread. I beleive the biosuit theory is good.
There is a lot of speculation that the two women survive to near end. What if one of them attempts to pilot the derelict ship in an attempt to return home, not knowing whats in the cargo hold. They jump into the pilot suit and are consumed buy it as mentioned above. During flight a xeno gets loose and infects the pilot (Shaw or Vickers) at which point they see no way to survive realize whats on the ship and deliberately crash it while setting off a warning signal.
This would mean of course that Dallas Lambert and Kane were staring at a fellow Weyland employee all this time. Savage!
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
savage indeed...tho if the ship crashes and u see Vickers and Shaw running away from it...then it will have to be someone else piloting the ship....and something (god forbid a xeno) burst threw the suit (basicly the cockpit suit with a human brain inside, the presumed space jockey as we saw it fossilized in alien) ...which causes the ship to crash....just maybe?
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
@ Sparky
That was a thoroughly disturbing article......actually kinda sad....crazy world!
ReplyMicro changes in air densityPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
There are several ships. The one we see crashing need not be the derelict.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
I agree completely and so sorry for that, but it does in fact lend credibility to your theory.
It's possible.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
How do u know their is several ships?....we know their is at least 2 human ships....but another alien horseshoe ship?....let's stick to what we know for certain so far....not that i am saying that their might not be more than one....but their is nothing to prove or suggest that their is more than one alien derelict style ship....so far as the one that crashes....I don't see any reason why it cannot be the derelict seen in alien....maybe the angle it crashed on is wrong....but it could have just fallen over....plenty can happen in 30 years?
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
We know of at least two human ships? I only see proof of one.
ReplyMicro changes in air densityPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Agreed Juxtapose. I'm just putting 2 & 2 together and adding some spice or speculation. I reckon Scott will want to end this with a quite extraordinary scene which will blow us allaway. Releasing a trailer six months early with shots of the derelict I believe is a complete non starter.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
good point, which lends to the possibility of a jockey born xeno emerging from the derelict to pursue shaw and vickers.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
they said (or i read) something about the other ship....they even had a name for it...Something like the "Galleon"...i dunno..
Ok...fine no other human ship cause their is no proof in the trailer....but their certainly is no proof of their being more than one alien ship either....not at this point...tho I am not gonna argue that their might be proof eventually....but if i am gonna speculate... i choose to build my speculations around stuff we can confirm...stuff we have seen in the trailer!
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
@ Micro
Yeah i agree totally!
ReplyartyohPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Being forced to permanantly fuse yourself to a fixed seat in order to run a ship doesn't sound like a very practical, super high-tech solution, to me. I'm expecting some weird CGI biomechanical merging effects when the SJ takes its' seat, but nothing permanent.
ReplyMicro changes in air densityPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Fair enough juxta. It's good to look beyond the obvious or probable and see if we can come up with the possible!
ReplyMicro changes in air densityPrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Sounds plausible Artyoh. I would assume the jockey gets in and out of the suit.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
...well perhaps u get in and u intend to get out....but oh fuck...guess what ....u cannot!...u become the suit and by a larger extend the brain of the ship...being merged or being part of that ship is enough to make anyone think of suicide....not to mention.....that is one hideous suit!
If u knew of the consequences tho...then that would mean sacrificing yourself for the greater good....tho that is me heading of into some crazy ideas....(speculating....so sick of typing that word!)

It looks to me like the SJ ship is essentially indestructable. An enormous craft, many hundreds of meters in length, suffers a huge explosion/impact high in the atmosphere, then falls all the way to the surface, and doesn't crumple into the ground and collapse of its' own weight? No, that flies in the face of simple physics. It's completely absurd unless Scott is telling us something about this technology.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
@ artyoh
......which means u are stuck in that indestructible thing for eternity...now all u need is a zeno to come and gobble up your liver each day....lol....(or at least some other form of ongoing torture) then the Prometheus mythology will be complete... it's one crazy theory....in the end I doubt that's how things will play out...but who knows?...;)

Oh, I like the idea, Juxtapose! It's simultaneously literate, poetic and creepy.
ReplyGhost SolitarePrometheus ForumUseless Thread No. 6011...What If ?!Jan 1, 2012
Though this is probably not the case, at dinner I was mulling this over. What if the ship were the actually intellegence. It only used pilots like batteries, or memory chips and when they were used up, it set down and awaited a new pilot. I don't know many people who could categorically resist climbing into that chair and sitting back just to see how it feels. Sort of chilling just to contemplate it sealing up around you rather like an iron maiden, or an ellaborate sarchophagus. Brrrrr....
