He's never said it was a big human in a suit, but the thing we saw in Alien was a biomechanical suit/armour The big fella is "humanoid", but so is the xeno (two arms and legs...), but he definately isn't human. I'm ok with it, and it sort of fits the "god" theme of made in their own image, but I can understand why some people don't like the idea.

Looks human to me, a big human, but still a human. People are assuming that this guy is the Jockey from one 1-2 second piece of footage, a knee jerk reaction. IMO this guy is not the Space Jockey, same as I believe that the object being scanned here... I know some people think that it is not a skull but a helmet, but I do not buy that. IMO this tall guy is a messenger to the humans created in their ultimate (evolution wise) because of his striking resemblance to the big head. Regards the Space Jockey, I imagine the creature will be lowered into the chair from above.

Thnk about all the different bizarre alien/monster configurations we've seen in movies since 1979. Weird and bizarre has become almost stereotypical. It wouldn't surprise me in the least, if the SJs turned out to be horrifically bad guys who look more than a little bit like us. There's a certain disturbing irony in that, which you simply wouldn't get with yet another slimy monster, no matter how well it was designed.

Picking hairs friend, and being a tad condescending... All we know is that there is a big human/humanoid next to the Space Jockey chair. Everyone has already had the knee jerk reaction claiming this guy is a Space Jockey, why not expand on the possibilities available beyond that. For all we know that assumption could be wrong, and if it is we may get close to what the tall guy really is. If the assumption is right, then at least we have been open minded and exercised our imaginations.

I'm not splitting hairs or being codesending. You said it's a human and it's obviously not and i was trying to point out the difference. People think its a jockey because it ticks all the boxes about what we know. You don't like the idea, fair enough, but i can buy it.

Lets chill on the specifics what I'm trying to say, and is also the point of the thread is what other possibilities could there be other than the feared "he is a space jockey".

Snorkelbottom, I agree with you that the object on that scanning table looks an awful lot more like a skull, than any helmet.....but to me, whatever form the SJs take, is secondary to just how nasty they turn out to be. I'd be far more disappointed by a less nasty disposition, than I would, by a more human appearance.

Mind u I was getting so bored of the ongoing speculations...most threads a recap of some earlier boring shit thread ...over and over and over....the subject exhausted to the point that u read a paragraph twice...cause u doze of halfway threw reading them the first time....i mean most of these topics has been done to death....NO!..... beyond fucking death! yeah....i think a new trailer will really clarify a lot...or at least it will spawn some new fresh discussions...assuming their will be another trailer!...in the event that their is...it will only be around in another few months...some more interviews with Ridley and the cast will also be interesting....I don't mind not learning anything more about the plot itself...maybe just their experiences in filming it....that alone will be great....I think we already dangerously close to unraveling the plot....i don't wanne spoil it for myself!

The plot? Just a wild guess, but: Humans travel a vast distance, to coordinates ( discovered along with other evidence,) indicating an ancient extraterrestrial presence on Earth. Instead of finding benevolent, super-advanced aliens, who accelerate their evolution a second time, they discover beings who interfered with human development for coldly calculated, malevolent reasons. All kinds of freaky, scary shit ensues when the humans get mixed up with the alien's equally malevolent technology, and nearly ( if not ) all of them, die violently before the credits roll.

@ artyoh I hate to say it but....yeah that about sums it up so far! But the plot of aliens does'nt do much better: Mining crew on board a ship hears distress/warning from unknown planetoid....sets down on company orders...investigates planet....one crew member gets face raped by unknown organism/ crew member gets ill during lunch and his stomach explodes/ stomach contents unleashes an evil acid bleeding abomination that kills everything on site until their is only one crew-member that survives...crew member out smarts and kills alien!....viola! But still I wont dispute:....that movie was a landmark in film history! It was all the things I did not mention in the brief synopsis that made it special! I am hoping Prometheus will be the same....it's those little intricacies that will make it rise above other movies of a similar genre...to be honest and serious.... the synopsis in Prometheus already sound way more epic! Returning to topic discussion....how about those Chiffon wedding dresses...lol

OK back on topic... ...a user who called himself..."newpiguet" who must have registered this name late into last night ... made hundreds if not more Posts all spamming the site with ads for a retail business...I noticed the exact same thing this morning Snorklebottom. They can all be cleared out using the back end for this sight {pretty sure of this} and I imagine they all will, slowly, as BugHunter gets to them. Just FYI.

More serious than a Joke I say "Snorky", allow me to explain. It is all about the Traffic. Prometheus is a Hot Topic on the net right now so discussions about it are generating a lot of internet traffic {unique visits to those web sites from unique and new IP Addresses}. So spammers are attracted to this because some of them get paid to steal/ direct / re route traffic however they can to wherever they are being paid to. By blasting a web site randomly with all kinds of posts like that many people will click through even if by accident generating traffic for the spammers target web site and sometimes even a sale or 2, which is the entire reason for anyone doing it to begin with. other than just causing mischief.

Well I for one am glad that those threads have receded into the background, I thought the site had gone commercial and was sitting here going O K AY what now? Reading up, I certainly hope I am not the one generating such animosity from Juxtapose. I like his in your face non filtering attitute, keeps it poppin!

Thanks Ghost Solitaire...but to be honest...i myself am probably guilty of silly speculation....but if their is like 20 different threads speculating about the same old crap....it get's tiring....suppose we all so eager to hear fresh news....I think it would be healthy (for me) to just forget about Prometheus for a while and wait until their is something exciting happening in the news section to discuss....even if it's just another interview.

the real reason is SEO spam. Notice the links they put to websites with the words they want to rank for as the link. The problem is this forum does verify registration by email. So bots like Xrumer and Sick Submitter just come in and post a lot of crap. Seems it just happened again. They need to fix the registration process, because it is only going to get worse.

again, the admin can delete all of them with ONE keystroke!!

that's going to be a lot of keystrokes when other spammers learn when a popular site like this has such a lax registration process, and this place starts getting pounded by the bots they all use.

Sounds like the idea from the Farscape TV series, would be good if the ship was alive and the moment the pilot becomes fused with the chair all the knowledge the ship has overwhelms the pilot, revealing the truth of everything, forever changing the pilots perspective on things.

The fusion with the vessel could tie in the Prometheus legend i.e. unending punishment for defying the "Gods". Does the chair appear to be occupied when it rises from the floor, and in the other pics?

Actually Reimer....u rather bright! U bring some very interesting and clever ideas to my little theory...that makes almost perfect plausible sense!.... That chair looks very empty from what i can tell in the trailer...so it's.... likely!...(amongs some other theories)....still an interesting idea!
