it comes from big parts of ship that were found outside the filming studios ..one of this parts was named "Magellan mess hall" and was very big
remember that they dont show everything in the trailer !!
plus we have some hints that there can be another crew
1- the mutant with a long beard and slighlty different uniform
2- the "cocooned man"
3- the mercenaries sequence
however is also possible that the main ship is divided in 2 pieces like the nostromo and the narcissus
ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumMagellan?Dec 23, 2011
Yeah..there are many more mysterious things we are not seeing yet. I am starting to think that the cocooned man was and is there experiment, they have this human and place the Alien in him to see how it works...to see how their new weapon will work with humans...poor guy is the guinea pig....perhaps this crew, the Prometheus is like a pirate ship that follows the Magellan or they stumbled upon the planet prior to the Magellan's arrrival...
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumMagellan?Dec 23, 2011
Heres a theory... What if the Prometheus is a spacecraft attached to something bigger.
Now I don't mean like the Narcissus:

What I mean is this...
Here's the refinery:

And detaching from this is the Ship that Dallas an Co. used to land on LV-426:

Which has some similarities, design wise, to the ship we see in the Prometheus trailer:

Basically, what if the Prometheus is the expedition craft like the one from Alien, that sets down on the planet while the main vessel (possibly the Magellan) remains in orbit.
Furthermore, if the "Magellan" is crashed into the Space Jockey ship:

Then maybe Vickers is onboard which would explain these...

can be everything ... even that the mess hall is named Magellan in honour of the great traveller .... we have to wait ...
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumMagellan?Dec 23, 2011
spartacus, you've grown way too attached to that theory. it only works if the humans piss off the space jockeys, which i don't think trampling around in their ampule room would cause such an overreaction...besides, i think that only happens after it crashes.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumMagellan?Dec 23, 2011
LMFAO
They STEAL some of the AMPULES FROM THE "ENGINEERS" !
BRING THEM ON BOARD THE PROMETHEUS.
WOULD YOU NOT BE PISSED OFF IF YOU KNEW SOMEONE STOLE SOMETHING SO VALUABLE FROM YOU...???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
SORRY,
I AIN'T LETTING GO OF A THING HERE!!!
AS FOR IT ..."ONLY HAPPENS AFTER IT CRASHES".
WHAT ONLY HAPPENS ???
I THINK THAT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS, THE HUMANS PISS OFF THE "ENGINEER'S"...END OF STORY !!!
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumMagellan?Dec 23, 2011
i think an advanced alien race would have a more sophisticated response to human taking some urns and ampules for study from what they believe to be an abandoned ship.
for example, i don't declare war on someone if they took something from me they thought i didn't want. i'd simply ask for it back.
in the case of the space jockeys, it's more like how i don't declare war on ants for trying to haul away cookie crumbs on the ground.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumMagellan?Dec 23, 2011
I agree, very well said and here is my counter - point ... "Jane You ignorant slut" no no no, I am just kidding and it is fun to take opposite sides or angles of a story and see what we can come up with together...so here is my real reply to what you wrote...
You are 100% right, except what we are talking about here is not just some rambling around innocently in some chamber, what we are talking about are Ampules that contain a Viscous liquid which "give the owner power over life of death" and from what we know contain the "genetic codes of thousands of species of Aliens" as well as the ability to convert any one of them "into a weapon".
Someone even touches one of my Ampules like these and they are DEAD MEAT WITH NO VOTE IN ENGINEERS CONGRESS NO DEBATE IN THE ENGINEERS SENATE AND NO PASSING GO AND NO COLLECTING 200 DRAKMARS...IT'S JUST FLAT OUT NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND IT IS ALSO IMO BEYOND ANY DOUBT GROUNDS FOR ONE SERIOUS ASS WAR!
and especially if done unintentionally!
and I can explain that too if need be.

I would say people that this has to be what the Space Jockeys look like. Well dont on the image very good effort.
ReplyApolloPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
I think it is safe to say that the huge stone face is not a human face but a Jockeys face, thats what it looks like to me, makes sense.
ReplyGame_Over_ManPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
It's KRATOS lol....I like the look, and perfectly happy that if he is indeed the JOckey - nothing is confirmed of course, he might be the equivalent of an Igor from Frankenstein!
ReplyThe High PriestPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
Yeah, that has to be the Jockey, although I am upset that what we thought was the Jockey (from Alien) is just a "suit" - dissapointing.
ReplyApolloPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
LOL suprising i would not be bothered if this is what the space jockeys look like. We have to remember they are very advanced evidentally. So this is what they would most likely be like. Let me put it this way. I think i could sit down and have a beer with this alien and talk physics but the jockey the way people expect it ....erm....no. I dont know why people think the jockeys have to be monstrous. They are advanced they are not going to be like the xenos are they. This is more realistic and I am happy about that. Whats the point being a big monstrous creature with a fat arse but he cant speak or pick up a hammer, doesnt make sense. This guy looks smart and advanced I think. All of this and i find out he is amercenary on steroids and has no hair............ sods law lol
ReplyxenomorphasmidPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
At least it isn't a human(it could have been one). His face reminds me of an embryo, especially his ears. -lol I just see it has 4 fingers- I start to believe it is an SJ
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
i dont think they would reveal the SJ in the trailer ... not 6 months before ...
ReplyRakkasanPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
I agree with Frantz. There are too maybe and what ifs right now to say for certain who or what this is.
ReplyDinosaurRaghhhPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
I think this is the end result of the crew member being mutated or the baby that Shaw has. Either way possibly a way of ressurecting a dead race of Engineers / Space Jockey's?? This one being either the Engineer and the Elder Engineer being the one that pregnated Shaw when she is dragged away in the sand storm .........
ReplyWeylandJanitorPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
This has to be the SJ. Just look at his size, compared to the human standing up on the same platform with all the planet holographs.
I am disappointed with this though. I visualized the SJ as a giant scary yet intelligent biomech creature. Not a damn Voldemort-like on a hi tech suit cliche.
And the 'mutated' human hints are even worse. Why everyone want any form of zombies in their movies nowadays? is way overdone and I am disappointed and surprised that someone that has done so many original things like Ridley is going this path now.
Big let down :(
ReplyRakkasanPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
It's only a let down if you assume it is true. So far we have no proof of any of this. Only our wild (and sometime educated) guesses.
ReplyDinosaurRaghhhPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
This could just be a hologram that is to be familiar to the species finding the star chart???

ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
i'd hoped the jockey would look more bio mechanical, like the suit, the ship, etc.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011

ReplyWeylandJanitorPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
@Rakkasan,
You are right, and I certainly hope is not the case. And I have seen other two interesting images in the trailer that might as well explain this a bit. The part where the woman falls on her knees, you can see a bald guy on a chair with Fassbender and another person. This same bald guy is seen on the part where they are heading out a door and two crew members are shooting at something. So I am guessing this strange bald man could be a 'mutated' human that eventually turns into this figure we see in the image.
This could match the premise of the movie too, being this creature or mutated human, the one that pisses off the Jockeys by stealing the tech, ship, dna, or whatever the Jockeys have. This creature could be the one jumping from the top of the vehicle on the other part of the trailer too...
Because consider my last theory, it could be just too bad for Ridley to allow people see the high premise of the movie which is the Jockey in the trailer, after so much anticipation. It makes no sense, if that is the case.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
I do not for the LIFE of me understand how in the heck anyone could possibly be disappointed with bloody Anything in a Film they have YET TO SEE !!!
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
Hold on, I have an idea that may please the nah-sayers...
Maybe this guy is human, or partly, and possibly under company orders steals the derelict, intending to take it back to Earth so that "the company" can get their hands on the cargo within, the Alien eggs. Using the star map he plots a course to Earth before sitting in the chair and "merging" with the Space Jockey bio-mechanical suit.
Realising someone is attempting to steal their technology the Space Jockeys somehow order one of the eggs to open. Meanwhile, captain Janek, realising the threat the Derelicts cargo poses to Earth crashes the "Magellan" into the alien craft, causing it to crash.
This way the Space Jockeys remain a "relative" mystery, and Alien is set up not just in respect to the crashed Derelict but also the foreknowledge they had about the Derelicts position and cargo.

i can buy the concept that the jockey "skeleton" is an exosuit meant to protect the wearer or maybe even keep them in suspended animation for long travels. however, the shape of the head and the body proportions look totally different. wouldn't such a suit conform to the general body shape of the wearer? i mean the space jockey suit design has the arms going back behind where the collar bone would normally extend, and the shape of the head and the mouth area is totally inhuman. yet on the trailer still, it's looks generally human.
something weird is going on. i am 70 percent sure that is not the space jockey.
Replyopiate92Prometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
@walterhiller,
I think you're on to something. None of the physiology of this guy in the room matches up with the original jockey "suit." It was apparent to me from the beginning that the spacing of the eye "holes" on the jockey in Alien couldn't be a helmet for this human looking fellow - as he clearly is the same fellow the giant stone head is designed after. The eyes are too close together to see out of the holes on the original jockey head OR the head on the table in the lab in the trailer. (you could get around this I suppose by saying the eye holes are for cameras...but...c'mon!) Also - while one of the fingers on the giant could just be moving and unseen (pinkie hidden behind ring finger because of the angle, etc.) - if he DOES only have 4 fingers - then why would he use a suit that has 5 - LOOK AT YOUR IMAGE OF THE JOCKEY SCULPT - FIVE FINGERS on that hand - gripping that lever with an opposable thumb and four regular fingers.
Also - remember that still from the ampule room with the giant fellow's body in the foreground? http://images.allmoviephoto.com/2012_Prometheus/2012_prometheus_002.jpg
The chest and legs on that guy seem different (elongated and thinner) from the SJ room bald fellow...no? The bald guy is very muscular, the dead body not so much... Perhaps the thing on the floor is just the bald guy in his "suit"... but look at the width of the hips of the suit compared to the chest, etc. The bald guy is stocky and the "suit" doesn't seem to be. Or am I just looking for ANY reason to believe the baldy isn't a SJ?!!
Replyopiate92Prometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
Also - the crew has their helmets off in this scene - suggesting this is probably the "earth discovery" in the cave and not on the derelect... right?

Also, Dallas states in Alien that the jockey seems to have been "growing out of the chair", that it essentially is attached to the ship. I guess it's possible that this fellow (assuming it used to be human) further mutates once in it's seat, but I agree, the proportions just don't seem to add up.
ReplyDrexlspiveyPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
The blue Man does not appear to be naked. In fact, it seems to be wearing a snug fitting body suit. That would not be consistent with him being an infected crew member undergoing forced accelerated evolution, as its unlikely they (the expedition crew) would have well-fitted clothing for him.
ReplyTromatizerPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
I was thinking, Scott said that the Space Jockey was just a suit for something else... maybe that isn't meant literally. Obviously, there's a chest burster inside, but it could be more cryptic than that.
ReplyspacejockPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
That is exactly my point I made on another thead (End theory). I also agree with Spartacus and others that we just have to wait and see, and embrace it for what it is, I agree, still Im only saying this creature looks like freakin Voldemort, way cheaper design that anything Giger would do. Come on if this Alien race looks like this, it will disppiont a lot of us, erasing the "alienness" and mystery of it all we felt when we first saw tha SJ fossil.

i really am starting to believe that the crew or certain members of the crew steal the technology of the sj's and infect one of the sj's with the alien which then bursts out of said sj and cause the ship to crash on lv426. i don't think that this image is that of a sj, remember back when everyone was talking about the trailer and it was stated that scott was filming scenes specifically for the trailer and not the movie, with that said it is possible that things we are talking about may have no relevence to the movie and may not be in it. most of the scenes in the trailer happen so fast that only someone who slows down the viewing of it can really decipher what is going on, then based on assumptions try to discern the plot like I have done at the beginning of this post. bottom line, we dont know what it is or what is going to happen but given what was stated about the trailer a majority of this footage may not even be in the movie

It reminds me of a guy who looks just like that (or whos name is similar), and his head is made of stoned with Sumerianish hieroglyphics tattooed on his face. Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night, It's got me thinkin about Prometheus. Could there be a connection! Is it as it appears to be? humans turning into super humans? why would extraterroristrials want to make super humans? Are we going to see some new alien Biomechanoids? U-F-Off's if you see any flying objects that glow and look like Mentalos do you not shoot them down? Well they try! Hummm but they never shoot them down. That's kind of bad right? They just take off or shrink...vanish. Always a step a head, them's ET's.
ReplyGuestPrometheus ForumWho is this?Dec 23, 2011
The details of that figure are actually very Gigeresque in design. If the SJs are giant biomechanical humanoids, then, by definition, they have to look essentially human in gross morphology.
I know that Scott has claimed he goes "practical" whenever possible, but the original alien would have fallen apart fairly quickly, if you'd actually had a good, long look at it in bright light. It was really just a tall guy in a suit, some animatronics and gallons of pumped slime. It was an outstanding new classic in monster design, but.....making a convincing ( fully articulated/animated ) biomechanical humanoid would actually be that much more difficult, because we know exactly what to look for in terms of what just doesn't look right.
I don't think puppets, animatronics and/or make-up prosthetics would work for anything other than relatively brief, ambiguously lit shots. In the trailer shot of a person being carried "in distress" we see a glimpse of what I think we can expect: a lot of very creepy gigeresque CGI to make all those strange biomechanical "gears, cams and tendons" appear to work organically.
If the SJs aren't humanoid, why did they plop down a gigantic humanoid head, right in the middle of their technological safe-room? Why does that standing figure's head so closely resemble the much larger, sculpted head?. In "Alien" the SJ's legs were presumably enclosed, merged....( whatever ), with the "telescope" chair, but it's upper limbs were very humanoid. If the elephant trunk "skull" really is just a helmet......which it certainly is in Giger's concept art.......then giant humanoids actually make perfect sense.
Even if it turns out that the SJs are giant humanoids, instead of "new and improved" slimy-scary-monsters, I think we're going to see some very freaky s__t from both them, and their technology.
