hahaha yeah, that game is pretty crazy. I'm pretty pumped for the new one that's supposed to drop in 2012. A word to any gamer, however: Do NOT under any circumstances, purchase Aliens: Infestation for the DS. You'll be told that it plays like Super Metroid, and I suppose the level design makes that true, but it is linear, half of it makes no sense, and there is literally, no ending. You beat the last alien and your commander gets on the horn, says "You better get out before that place blows", and you start to run away, the screen goes white and the credits roll. Worst game I have ever played. It's horrible that the Alien name has been attached to it.

The woman with marks on her legs is Shaw. It's the scene just before the one when she enters the laboratory and falls down on the floor in front of 3 men, half naked, covered with bruises and marks. She's been raped by her boyfriend (the guy on the right of the picture). That's why we see later a "close up" of her face screaming like something is about to come out of her. Her boyfriend has been infected by alien dna. Their child is Prometheus.

the way he delivers it suggests irony and humor. i thought it was funny, at least. and i don't think he's serious. he might be satirizing the wacked out theories people have been sprouting around here.

Ridley also pointed out that he's locking the best parts of the film away which of course means you aint seen nothing yet mate. Also in the radio interview mentioned with neville page he said ..... Ridley and i had a meeting and i was genuinely terrified to meet my hero who inspired me to do the job i do creature effects design, He then goes on to say Ridley said to me i want you to be better than Giger with which he's heart sank and he asked himself how does one be better than Giger ?. Well he concluded that you dont you just do the best work you possibly can and hope the director likes it. He than says i worked furiously for months trying my goddamn hardest to come up with something thats never been seen before i pulled out all the stops to make it as impressive and unique as i could well all i can add is that when i showed what i have been working on to ridley he said well done mate you got it. To hear that from Ridley scott was music to my ears so now i'm looking forward to seeing the result on screen. Lets hope we all agree.

I asked Frantz about that, to see if he could check into it for us, I mean, he wrote "190 Minutes" which In My mind if I am not mistaken = 3 hours and ten minutes which seems way way off to me. I would love it if it is, but they never or rarely are that long in their theatrical releases.

Didn't someone check the "harvest" script and found out it was made with OpenOffice and not the standard script authoring tool other Spaihts scripts were done with? Also, for the last time, the "star beast" plot summary was made by an IMDB user.

I like micro changes in air densitys theory - That works well for me. Sphaits claims he has never even heard of Alien Harvest and it definately isn't his work. I have to say Prometheus is feeling like a hybrid of The Thing/Event Horizon - I for one hope that we see a chestburster come out of a 8 foot space jockey, then we see lots of huge, different deranged Aliens. This is what I was hoping Gigers involvment had been about. I'm not digging the humans turning into neandrathal thing and all turning on each other. I want to see never seen before xenomorphs.

@High Priest-If memory serves me, I remember seeing a still or clip of someone using a flamethrower on someone/something inside a tight corridor on the ship. Perhaps there will be a monster that gets loose on the ship? I'm sorry I can't readily find that now. It looked a lot different than the scene of the crew members firing them in the vehicle access garage. I do believe Ridley is holding some major details back from us on this first trailer, which I am totally fine with. I don't want to be spoiled too much before I go to see this.

I would imagine from the shot of the mutant guy leaping on someone with a flame thrower that one of the crew is trying to torch the mutant he shoots between two vehicles the guy with the flame thrower torches between them and the mutant quickly climbs on top of the vehical using super mutant ninja speed then does a flying body slam elbow drop followed by a mutant power bomb...........

I rewatched alien last night and something stuck out in my mind: in the egg chamber, only one section (the one with blue mist) contains intact eggs. All the others have eggs that (on my high def screen) appear to be open and laying on their sides. Whatever happens in prometheus, there has to be a crap ton of eggs, most of which are "hatched"...

Pulled this from another forum, a bit disheartening if true. Disregard my original post if so. [derelict craft from alien]doesn't even land the same way, there's a lot of details that simply don't add up, and the fact that Scott is trying to deviate it as much as he can from Alien points to the idea that it's a different ship. Also, he said that the end of the film WON'T lead to Alien (1979), that should be enough reason to believe it's not a recreation of what happened in LV-426. They have an entirely different containment system for the facehuggers somehow and it's...the same ship? There's no space jockey even in the Goddamn cockpit and you think it's the same ship?No man, they had an interstellar empire. There's going to be more than one ship out there.

well the trailer didnt show the aftermath of the crash nor the whole crash from begining to the end of it with the debri clearing. so maye it is the same planet and ship... we just might have to wait and see... plus its 30 years before alien... so something could've happened in the area within that time.

I don't think we can really go off of the trailer in terms of the derelict's final resting spot. A lot of times studios flip the footage to throw off fans. We'll have to wait, until trailer #2 or until the movie is released for more info.

WeylandJanitorPrometheus ForumThe Truth About Jockeys?
I have seen other two interesting images in the trailer that might as well explain this a bit. The part where the woman falls on her knees, you can see a bald guy on a chair with Fassbender and another person. This same bald guy is seen on the part where they are heading out a door and two crew members are shooting at something. So I am guessing this strange bald man could be a 'mutated' human that eventually turns into this figure we see in the image. This could match the premise of the movie too, being this creature or mutated human, the one that pisses off the Jockeys by stealing the tech, ship, dna, or whatever the Jockeys have. This creature could be the one jumping from the top of the vehicle on the other part of the trailer too... Because consider my last theory, it could be just too bad for Ridley to allow people see the high premise of the movie which is the Jockey in the trailer, after so much anticipation. It makes no sense, if that is the case.

he's probably a result of eugenics program on earth and serves as a merc for space faring expeditions. he might also be a combat class android working with the mercs to borrow a theme from blade runner.

the theme was already present in the movie. don't care about the non-canon stuff. also, if you have a point, you might want to just come out with it directly instead of being vague like a coward with low self esteem.

From the first time I saw the first movie I always thought that it was just too convenient that the Nostromo just happened into that 'correct' star system. The Weyland Corp has been there since the beginning. It wouldnt surprise me if they aren't the reason why the 'engineers' are making this bio weapon.

Despite the fact that I trust Scott in being truthful to the mystery of the SpaceJockey, I am a bit worried, and mainly because of one thing: Ridley Scott said in one interview that Giger worked on Prometheus to do "some murals". This probably means Giger did not design any creature for Prometheus. His genius is one of the main reasons of Alien's success, and not have him design the SpaceJockeys for this movie but rather give that job to some lame random creature designer who did stuff for Green Lantern makes me puke my brains out. Oh well.

I'm with SpaceJock 100%. I wanted Giger to design the Space Jockeys "in the flesh" as I have believed for 30 years that the SJ in Alien was a fossilised skeleton. The thought of finaly seeing a living breathing one made me hard. To now find out the discovery on LV 426 was a "suit" really upsets me. Its starting to reek of George Lucas - missing basic fundamentals that tie it all in. Oh well....

I think we need to lose the term, "Xenomorph", Scott is distancing himself away from that term that Cameron started...this creature is more than that...not a bug but something more sinister.

Scott was very true in working with Giger and he stated Giger did design some new things for this film and used some old templates as well. The problem is that we are carrying ideas from the other films into this and Scott is straying from those films and keeping Alien and Prometheus a stand alone film that will have nothing to do with Aliens and so forth. We need to erase those very idea's of what Cameron started and the other directors placed in the later films...

i agree it's his vision and i don't particularly subscribe to the view that an artist has a responsibility to his fans either. however, false humility is transparent and stupid. if someone's work doesn't mesh with my tastes, even if i respect him, i am not going to be "ok" with it. i'm going to be disappointed and i'm going to be critical. that doesn't mean i have an ego problem or don't respect their vision. that just means i have a mind of my own and can decide whether or not if i like something.

i like what you just said there walterhiller and I respect you for it. I just feel you and everyone else saying these negatively charged things should first wait until you see the film because speculation is just that...its nothing...speculation and ten cents won't even buy you a cup of coffee in today's world. It's the same thing as "selling a ticket" to a negative experience. Once you have seen the film, if it bothers you still so much that someone looks too human underneath their space suit or that the Space Jockey wasn't handled in exactly the way YOUR OWN EGO wanted it to be... than O.K. I can accept you saying..."This is what I did not like and this is why..." But all that saying..."If this is done this way, I won't like it, or IF they do this I am not going to be happy" does...is bum people out who want to see this thing and embrace it for what it is... A Prominent Film Director's Cinematic Vision !!!

@OP, i like this theory , i have a related one, the SJ's are between Type 2 and Type 3, i.e. they "use the energy of multiple stars": they go around seeding planets for later harvesting. The horror (for us) will come from a process analogous to the way humans treat plants and animals here on earth, with the time dilation & spatial distances of interstellar travel tied in with genetic distances. Within an ecosystem we have lots of symbioses because we interact (we can make round trips of the globe), but we have no qualms about exploring genetically distant farm animals. but for the SJ's they can seed a planet, travel at near light speed, seed another one, and return at near light speed to "harvest" their fruit .. fresh biomass ready for transformation with their tech. They would be intelligence on a greater scale (greater complexity from having more energy available, so they will look down on terrestrial <2 civs like we look down on animals) This will explain why alien has a human-compatable lifecycle for example

So I was reading the original Dan O'Bannon Alien script (that comes on disc 2 of the Quadrilogy) and (at least in this draft), the derelict wasn't the source of the alien, but that there was an indigenous pyramid close to the derelict that was only seen once the storm stopped for a few moments. Inside of this pyramid, it's stated that the walls were covered with huge hieroglyphs and depictions of half humanoid/half insectoid creatures, as well as other combination monstrosities. Naturally, this was the original script and a lot of it (including the character names) was changed, but it mentions the urns multiple times (what the face hugger came out of), and there's even dialogue after the acid incident that states "The spaceship and the pyramid are not the same. The pyramid's indigenous." So, if Scott is going back to this original concept (or borrowing from it), it's entirely possible that these "murals" are, in fact, the giant hieroglyphs and murals of the pyramid on LV426.

But what I was getting at (i lost my train of thought), was that the jockey may actually have nothing to do with the actual aliens at all... they may not even be our creators, but another race which found IT'S creator (like we have), where they may be trying to survive just as much as we are on the planet. This would add a whole new dimension to the universe. We just assume that the space jockey was bringing those eggs to earth, or that it's our creator, but maybe it was doing the same thing we were: taking the knowledge back to it's homeworld as well.

it's not that simple to determine whether similarities in literature/art is intentional or coincidental. there's definitely some convincing links being established, but as a whole, his argument is a little weak. what the author could have done better was to provide citations. for example, he states that dan o'bannon saw the film planet of the vampires and based his own concepts off it. this is stated as fact, however no proof is ever provided. we are simply to take his word for it. even if he were not lying or deluding himself, it could be a rumor or a misquote. but a citation will allow the reader to determine for themselves through context the authenticity of that particular statement.

I figure something along the lines of this is possible, not so much "dying race" but thats generally how they work, perhaps they seed a planet - which takes 'a very long time' to become truly hospitable then they colonize it: perhaps they engineer something like Humans as an intermediate form, readying the planet for their own use of it. this is where the horror would come from, we discover that we were engineered for a purpose but it will be more like organs spare parts etc ( as with our own research ... growing spare organs in other animals ). Another idea: they talk about "Light speed travel with downsides." Perhaps the 'downside' is you lose altruism with what you leave behind - you can't trade or establish symbiotic relationships over excessive distances. this will sound convoluted but... You could make a round trip, with time dilation. [1]start on a planet 'A' , seed it in a way ready for step 3 [2] bugger off at near light speed to another 'B'. start on planet 'B'. do more of the same there.. [3] return to planet 'A', at near light speed. Steps 1-3 are 1 lifetime - ship time, but geological/evolutionary timescales planet time. The planet is now "ripe", so harvest it... by releasing the bio-engineering to transform it's biomass to your purposes. So perhaps the SJ's / Engineers have emerged from a process like this, imagine a species competing with itself doing this: e.g. some colonists set off, but you know that their descendants will be back with superior resources from un-populated planets ... so in the long run your gene pool is shafted unless you follow suit. Somewhere Ridley scott says something about "origins of mankind and what they must ultimately become" - i'm not suggesting that it's humans themselves that did this, just 'gaming' what the evolutionary incentive would become with space travel.

My take on what Frantz said is this... There is more than one ship, may be many more... One of them is 100% NOT Human !!! The one sent by the "Engineers" on a coarse for EARTH with a boatload of Ampules on it all programed for Xenomorph incantation and which The company will attempt to divert.
