The series is going to be shown on TNT Yountr, see below.

There doesn't seem to be a schedule yet in regards to the release. As far as the inclusion of an "alien"....oh, could we be so lucky....
The audio is for plot reasons,Not like say Star Wars which has had a nasty habit of constantly rehashes familiar plot themes etc.If you turned The Force Awakens into a drinking game with how many times it references the original trilogy you'd be drunk within a half hour.Blade Runner 2049 is still a breath of fresh air compared to new Star Wars which can't seem to let go of Star destroyers,Tie fighters,X wings,Storm troopers,Death Star 3.0.Disney has proven Star Wars has absolutely nothing new to offer.
Halloween is getting a sequel,it does not need to be Conjuring big,The Conjuring universe doesn't even have a movie that is as successful as IT.Nor is the Conjuring a reboot of anything old.Halloween was successful and well liked that a sequel has been given a green light, should a sequel do well as you noted there will be more.
What motivation aside from restoring a previously cut scene that wasn't part of his definitive cut of the film?I do not sense any sinister intentions to undermine James Cameron's vision.Ridley has never actually written an Alien film for what it's worth,I think people tend to forget that.If anything Black goo it seems is very flexible if indeed the species can be born from it,egg morph,as well as A queen with her hive.I see no reason why we can't have all.
Hey do we know when Ridley Scott series will come to th and what network will carry it. Hope Netflix will have it. Or amc then it will be upload to Netflix
To revive a franchise is to have more than one successful films after various years. Yes, the sequel Halloween will be successful as the whole thing is cheap as dirt in terms of Hollywood movie, but what I said it will be in the same league as the Conjuring franchise.
The thing what you don't want to understand is the reintroduction obscure things into the movie can have a motivation, especially if that contradicts what was shown in future movies. What is in the movie is what really matters to the big public. It does not matter that already for Giger the spacey jockey was a bald humanoid in suit, many of the fans could not accept that.
And there was no nostalgia in BR49, a movie where it plays audio sequences from the original, the technology is made to be retro-futuristic and the replicant dies on the same musical piece? Sure ...
Well most plot holes can be wrapped up with a little time travel.
I think i read the next movies is intended to be The Engineers after David seeking revenge. Sling an alien infested Engineer ship back 50000 (pick a number) years and there you have your crashed ship and fossilized Engineer in Alien.
Thus populating the Galaxy with Aliens (pick a number) years before David created them.. Gives the predators something to play with. Possibly a whole series where the two races battle and Aliens are eventually subdued.
Great catch Ingeniero!I have yet to read the novel but is on my agenda. This video is all i really know about the novel thus far.
Thank you kindly for the link Ingeniero! As for the topic i agree with dk,Ridley has revealed that Awakening Would have taken place unsurprisingly on LV-426.But i see no reason why we can't deviate from this path.
Once again Ignorant guy your opinion isn't universal.Halloween seemed to go over quite well with many.I just used as an example of yet another dead franchise was successfully revived after decades of bad sequels and remakes. If Halloween can achieve this then so can Alien.
He also said that his xenos can reform if they are a dismembered
This concept is actually featured in Alan Dean Fosters novelization of Alien which is based on Dan O'Bannon's final draft and what eventually became the movie.
First, he reintroduce the egg morphing in Alien 2003
A scene was actually shot in the 70's and had been seen in various featurates over the years.Fact:With the Exception of Blade Runner and Legend, both of which he felt were compromised by studio interface, all films of his that hit theaters are his prefered cut including Alien. When Fox approached him for the 2003 "Directors cut" he agreed but made clear the 1979 theatrical cut was his definitive vision. The egg morphing scene was purposely left on the cutting room floor. This isn't crapping on Cameron's queen, just reintroducing a previously cut scene. He had actually gone into Alien dc with the intention of resorting all scenes which amount to somewhere between 3 and 4 hours of footage, but ultimately felt it was to long.Instead he opted to edit a new cut that runs around the same time as the theatrical with variations such as new scenes, shorter scenes, and at least one removed.
Covenant was already full of nostalgia already (full of References to original and Blade Runner, from lines, soundtrack, images, scenes), hardly can go any lower. And yet you pretend it was so original.
Very little is free from this these days.Prometheus did it as well.Others such as Terminator Genisys,All new Star Wars,Robocop, new Star Trek,Spectre etc etc.Nostalgia is the death kneel of Hollywood.Yet again movies like Blade Runner 2049 and Mad Max Fury Road are two rare cases of films that didn't rely on reliving the glory days to for cheap fan glee.
there is little chance outside comics or books that The films ambitious themes will be explored
Who wants to wait another 5+ years for a follow up that will probably polarize fans provided some are even alive? It is time to take the series to streaming where it can branch out and get some deep characters and stories. Theatrical movies are fine but don't seem well suited for sequels and prequels with long development times from directors with other projects going on.
ninXeno426 I have searching about Ridley's thoughts on Aliens and here is what I found https://www.quora.com/What-is-Ridley-Scotts-opinion-on-James-Camerons-Aliens. These are only pleasantries, he congratulates Cameron for the success and it states that the movie is great for what it is, a action. There is absolutely no mention about the Queen and ant Xenoes. When I say, that Ridley hates them I base my words on what he does in films. First, he reintroduce the egg morphing in Alien 2003, he made David create the first eggs, effectively eliminating the need for a queen. He also said that his xenos can reform if they are a dismembered, far removed from the xenos in Aliens. Even the reference of David's queen would probably be something entirely different than Cameron's monster, only to piss off fans.
Covenant was already full of nostalgia already (full of References to original and Blade Runner, from lines, soundtrack, images, scenes), hardly can go any lower. And yet you pretend it was so original.
Will see how the sequel to Halloween will go, of course it was successful being made on such a small budget (But you know The Nun made much more). But the movie was a joke, how can one fear a balding white haired loser in a mask, he was just pathetic. The only good thing it was Carpenter's soundtrack. The right idea was Carpenter to make an anthology series, but fans want the same it seems.
ninXeno426, I love that series. I just purchased the bound set because I gave my comics to a friend.
There is a connection in the novels to that series as well...I did a topic on it here. Yes, please adapt some of the concepts from that series into the Alien films or at least make the ending of that series into AVP 3 (that is close to your topic here).
I think the goo is unpredictable and thus a wild card that messes up anyone's plans.
Haha thank you kindly Ingeniero
Great articles BigDave. I just caught your link to the cast announcement too, thank you.
What I like about the articles is how much we could be missing in regards to signals because we are looking at such a narrow band with our technology.
That's all true.I feel whatever happens next will likely be a back to basics approach. As it's been said an effective Alien film might be all the franchise really needs.Sort of life the recent Halloween reboot/sequel which discarded anything bloated from it's many sequels and remake. It made Michael Myers who ceased to be scary scary again.
I hate to say it because i am a Prometheus fan,but there is little chance outside comics or books that The films ambitious themes will be explored. And even then these themes have virtually been ignored by almost everything except the Fire and Stone and Life and Death graphic novel series.
Hollywood is hell bent on regurgitating the past these days.Terminator is getting a "proper 3" after various sequels and reboots, just like the aforementioned Halloween.Ghostbusters and Robocop are as well.Star Wars is stuck in a loop of rehashing old plot lines and when they're not they're heavily tied to the classic trilogy.Nostalgia is in,ambition and fresh ideas are out.I'd say whatever Alien is up to next will likely follow suite.
I think the Franchise could be SAVED... it needs to go and introduce something more Sinister and Lovecraftian more HR Giger but keep some of the Philosophy from Prometheus... sadly the Synthetic Creation Slave thats Gone AWOL and wanted to Eradicate his Creators and their Creators with his Creation ARC is something thats a Distraction from what Most Fans would have expected a Prequel to be about.. while this ARC fits with the Engineers/Mankind ARC but just takes it to that next Level Down on the Creation Ladder instead of exploring the Level Up.

This COULD be the Basis to Evolve the Franchise if we consider the beings here as the Engineers... who ONCE served a Purpose for some other RACE... and they then Rebelled and Overthrew their MASTERS and became the NEW Gods... and there attempts at Creation included Mankind and maybe the Planet 4 Engineers. They also then Re-Engineered their MASTERS Technology.
Maybe some of these tried to then EVOLVE themselves to be more like their MASTERS?
I think such a Philosophical Plot that can bring the Xenomorph Origin into it, would have worked more than the Android David creates it Plot.
What about the Scale of the Space Jockey, and NOW how they are looked down upon a bit after Alien Covenants Engineers? We could introduce the Space Jockey as a 10-12ft Humanoid... or something a little more ALIEN but still keep it a Space Suit!

Alien: Awakening please.
Stunning detail, definitely tempted to get this figure set.
"Ridleys only issue with the sequels was that he was suprised no one wanted to explore where the space jockey came from which he of course did with Prometheus. An exploration many found....unsatisfying."
To a degree i can agree with that.... RS would have had something more planned for the Franchise than the Queens, Eggs, and Greedy Corporations wanting to get their hands on them Eggs or a Queen but Ripley comes to save the Day Formula. He felt the Space Jockey was a LARGE piece to that Puzzle (ALIEN) and was surprised that No-One EVER went back to cover WHO the Space Jockey was and explore the Species and their Agenda.
Was Prometheus Unsatisfying?
I think it depends.... some fans may have wanted a ALIENS MK2 or similar, Marines, Xenomorphs and Run and Shoot... some would have wanted more of a ALIEN and so Xenomorphs and Run and Hide.
Some just wanted to explore the Space Jockey, and was disappointed it Did-Not connect enough to ALIEN and lacked that Xenomorph Aesthetic and Threat.
For some it opened up a expansion to the Franchise, Sadly its only Fans who would enjoy and get movies like Space 2001, At the Mountains of Madness, and Blade Runner who would GET Prometheus and where it could have headed.
In Hindsight.... it lacked enough Xenomorph Clues, it lacked enough of a Xenomorph Attack/Threat.... and the Engineers Did-not seem as Surreal and Enigmatic as the Space Jockey... yet i find its just the Scale thats the Problem.. they was intended as 12-15ft before Production.
But HR Gigers Concept works already indicated the Engineers, and the Space Jockey being a Space suit.
Everyone is ENTITLED to their own opinions.. i can see some of what Prometheus had set-up may have been a Distraction to what is expected from ALIEN Franchise... especially how the Creation Arc has been Siphoned down to be about David and what AI he would create next.
I feel any ALIEN Prequel that Did-not go the Engineers/Gods route and that introduced the Engineers as a None Humanoid Race... with NO connection to Mankind... or indeed if they was to want to Destroy Mankind but for no real reason...
Would just have given us a ALIENS meets INDEPENDENCE DAY kind of Popcorn Flick!
in Hindsight and especially nowadays... that route may have actually made them more MONEY.. but i am not sure thats the kind of Movie Franchise RS is interested in.
No kidding...it looks like more than 20 minutes of work to me. Great cover Dark Nebula.
Yes Lone. I will be adding this to the collection. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, I like the dog too.
This is great Dark Nebula...all the attention from NECA to Alien 3. And I'll have to buy this too for sure. Thank you for sharing.
I've enhanced an image of Dr. Wren's face exploding when the xenomorph traveled through his head to assist the analysis ninXeno426, below.

"I disagree somewhat.Something more basic isn't really where i saw things"
My comment regarding that would have been if the Prequels went the route of NOT being about the Ancient Gods connection and say if the Prequel was just some prior Ship either detects the Space Jockey SOS and investigates, or just stumbles upon LV-426 or LV-223 by accident/chance and the Plot then introduced a Giant Alien Space Jockey who had NO connections to mankind at all.
Or more so if the place has NO alive Space Jockeys but the Humans get infected with a Face Hugger or Similar or Black Goo etc... then i feel it would have been a more basic Plot..
I felt and mentioned that the route they took with Prometheus opened up so many possibilities to give us some really thought provoking Sci-Fi and was the right path to choose.
Regarding RS he does have a habit of changing his mind and saying one thing and then doing exactly the opposite, as Ignorant Guy had pointed out. With Alien Covenant he had said in the build up, you have to make a movie about the HIM (Xenomorph) and that you have to Evolve Him, and other comments like the Beast Can go a Few more rounds.. and it seemed like he was up for the Introduction of the Xenomorph even hinting that it was a mistake to leave it out so much in Prometheus in Hindsight... to then when Alien Covenant Disappointed.. we had him come out about the Beast is Cooked and he was ahead of the Curve with Prometheus.
Its hard to see what side of the Fence he sits on... i think it is the Fence he indeed sits on... so that he can at least have some Role to Play in how the Franchise Progresses.
He would Sacrifice some parts of Prometheus to allow him to carry some themes over, which he would use David as the Anchor for... he would welcome a Direct Prequel about the Xenomorph... if they allowed it to become a creation of David to fit with the Philosophical Tale that RS was trying to tell.
As far as i recall, RS never had a major Problem with Camerons Aliens... he had even mentioned the Xenomorph had Aesthetics from a Female, a Reptile and a Insect before Camerons BUGS... He even felt the Queen made Logical Sense...
But its just not the kind of sequel he would have done, he would not have focused it on so much Action/Shooter. He wanted to explore a ALIEN World, a Xenomorph Origin a Connection to the Space Jockey and to explore the Xenomorph being a more Intelligent Species than Portrayed in the Franchise...
Yet the Theatrical Cut of ALIEN i feel the Organism was just a Jason Voorhees in Space! The DC version showed a Purpose for the Xenomorph, and if RS had ended the movie with the ONE Ending he wanted it would have shown the Xenomorph to be more than a KILLING/BREEDING Parasite.
Ridley Scotts major Frustration with the Xenomorph came from how it has been over played in all Mediums, seen in Games, Comics and the AVP Movies basically made the Xenomorph seem to be not as much of a Danger as Ridley Scott felt it should be. Even saying those Movies Cooked the Beast and Stuck a Apple (i think) in its Mouth..
Bit of a odd comment from someone who CLAIMS to had NEVER seen the AVP movies though. But none the less he was quite correct....
Bottom line is something more has to be done than the Xenomorph, you may be able to MILK it a few more times but you have to have some Context where you can go off to something more Fresh once that Cow has been MILKED to Death.
Sadly the Prometheus Themes about Creation, Rebellion and Hubris of Sub-Creating and Evolving and how much Knowledge your Creation is allowed... is just a Distraction from what MOST would expect a ALIEN movie to be about.
And more so when these Themes NOW seem to revolve around David and what he would create... as opposed to the Engineers and what else they create.

THE SET UP
...my criticism is the lost opportunity in regards to the scenes with Walter in the Covenant garden and the juggernauts underground outside the temple on Planet 4.

These scenes added a sense of "wonder" with the human and Engineer technology. Why these scenes (and all of the Prologue: The Crossing) were not included in the film is beyond my understanding.
THE DEVELOPMENT
In the next film, my wish is to see more awe inspiring tech from the humans and Engineers. Both examples of this technology could be shown if the story returns to Planet 4 (my wish too). There is a connection to LV-426 somewhere and it will be wonderful to see that in the next films.
Also, please dive into how Weyland-Yutani is trying to harness the xenomorph with secret high-tech facilities where everything is designed to go well and doesn't.
What does Weyland-Yutani know in regards to the origin of the black goo pathogen and when did they find out?
It is almost too much for me to wish for in regards to the story when considering returning to LV-223. The story should move to the Engineers returning to LV-223 or reaching back to show what killed them there in my opinion. This would tie together the prequels and give so many opportunities to show the Engineers' tech and their relationship with Earth.
I think Amanda Collin looks familiar to a degree to Katherine Waterston too. Amanda has a more Chiseled/Bony Jaw Structure like Miss Weaver had when she was in her 40's and so Amanda Collin is kind of a cross between a Miss Weaver and Miss Waterston

" If the planet shown to David above when waking is Planet 4, then David could be the "sling" used to defeat the Engineers (Goliath)...at least in Peter Weyland's mind."
This is just my opinion, but i think the vision reference to the that Shared Scene is only for Symbolic Reasons and so to make a connection with Creation, the same as the Nativity Painting, it is a symbolic reference that David is not a Typical Human but Enchanted.
I think the Quest that Peter Weyland was on about was that he believes that there is SOMETHING to Creation and its not just a Random Set of Events, or that it is the Act of a Magical Godlike being... but something ELSE.... and ONE-DAY he hoped that he and David could Discover this for themselves.
I do think and its my interpretation even before Alien Covenant had even been released (i had worked on the same in 2013 with my Prometheus 2 idea) that Weyland was working on making a Perfect Synthetic as a Vessel for his Immortal Soul Once he could MASTER the ability to upload his Soul into a AI Program. This was going to be called Project Rook!
I think the debate about Transcending to a AI like in the movie Transcendence could ONE-DAY be something we may achieve and would be in affect a route to Immortality and a After-Life and the Ultimate Progress of Evolution of Humanity... abet in a Artificial Way.
Regarding any kind of AI they would be in effect Immortal Provided the Mechanism that Stores this AI is kept in tact and Safe, and provided back-ups of their AI or their AI in general is uploaded to a series of Networks and Storage.
A AI that has NO Back Up could Die if its Brain/Storage is Destroyed... if this is NOT Destroyed it can be uploaded to a New Body.... if there are Back Ups then some kind of Event that would Render Circuits and Electronics Useless like a EMP Event would in effect Destroy a AI.
Unless they had some Protection against such a thing (Shielding) or a Back Up is Stored in a place that is FAR away from the Area a EMP would effect.
Great comparison Chris.
"So, I think David created the perfect organism as a tool, not a companion. A weapon to destroy all organic, sentient life in the Universe to create a safe haven for him and his infinite lifespan."
In regards to the creating of the perfect organism, David does refer to "rule" this galaxy in Advent, above. That fits. By creating the perfect organism, David would be able to kill off any threat and most specifically the humans that don't appreciate his kind. This would give him room to work.

Above, Peter Weyland sits in his throne chair and tells David in so many words that they will understand and defeat death. If the planet shown to David above when waking is Planet 4, then David could be the "sling" used to defeat the Engineers (Goliath)...at least in Peter Weyland's mind.
Regarding the tea...Peter Weyland had to remind David that his service to him is first...before any considerations of failure (not defeating death). David noticed, shook it off, poured the tea, and then patiently waited for his creator to die.
Synthetic Immortality
In the Alien: Out of the Shadows novel, Ash lives on inside AI and responds to Ripley, below.
"Hello Ash, she typed.......Instead, the reply was almost instant.
Hello Ripley."
Alien: Out of the Shadows, page 85.
So, I assume the AI synthetics are only immortal as long as they can absorb back into MUTHUR or "Mother" and that part of AI continues on.
That is most likely, exactly the look they were going for dk.
Great cheekbones sure fit with the new face of AI and the monster's mother. And they are both very easy on the human eyes (at least mine). I also believe Father was well cast with Abubakar Salim.
"i cant help but think that Raised by Wolves will carry over a number of ideas that RS was going to explore in Alien Covenants Sequel... that is on HOLD and maybe Indefinitely, so he has decided to maybe put some of these ideas into his TV Series as a way to show people that actually there is something interesting that can be done with Sci-Fi still."
I could not agree more BigDave.
"and indeed years latter i proposed for my Alien Covenant Sequel that David would again have a World of Humans who would be Raised to his Rules, Religion etc..."
The ideas you proposed above in regards to a "World of Humans" looks to be somewhat fulfilled by the new Scott Free production with AI raising human children. Wonderful concepts.
I always imagined David turning the Covenant into a horror factory but your Alien: Covenant sequel proposal is very close to the "PRIORITY ONE" shown in Phobos.

Ridley Scott's quote below (source) is close to the conditions described in latest Raised by Wolves update.
“I think the evolution of the Alien himself is nearly over. But what I was trying to do was transcend and move to another story, which would be taken over by A.I.’s. The world that the AI might create as a leader if he finds himself on a new planet. We have actually quite a big layout for the next one.”
The series will only be dark tunnels, chest bursting and hiding and as such it needs to die.
This is very hard to do.It's an old concept and maybe even a little beaten to death, but between Alien,Aliens, and even Alien 3 it's what's loved best. What's really needed is a fresh story and quality characters, which people are surprisingly skilled at in other media such as comics and novels.
and in spite of Cameron's insect interpretation
That's seems to be a bit of a myth that Ridley feels this way about Cameron's sequel.Ridley actually liked Aliens, case in point both Prometheus and Covenant make nods to Aliens. And Ridley and James planned on making Alien 5 before Fox decided on AVP instead.Ridleys only issue with the sequels was that he was suprised no one wanted to explore where the space jockey came from which he of course did with Prometheus. An exploration many found....unsatisfying.
One way or another Scott made the film.Like i said Covenant would not have been made with out him,We would have been seeing Alien 5 instead which Ridley was still producing.Covenant isn't very popular, but neither is Prometheus.Ridley actually passed on directing Blade Runner 2049 to make sure Covenant happened.Anything you read About Covenant Ridley speaks with passion about the film.Would Ridley haved prefered a more direct follow up to Prometheus?Probably. Is satisfied with Covenant? Most likely. Both
Prometheus and Covenant are now past. With all the buzz around Isolation related properties yes it's clear that more chestbursting, dark tunnels and hiding are what's in store. As I already said Prometheus was a gamble that more or less failed. This year if anything seems as if they're doing everything possible to distance themselves from Scotts prequels.Actually this is reminiscent of how Star Wars Knights of the old Republic turned out to be better received prequels than Georges movies.Isolation has been a more popular prequel/sequel as well as revisiting Scotts original film than Scotts actual films Prometheus included.
ninXeno426 RS is the same person you said once that he does do sequels yet here we are we Covenant, Blade Runner 2049 (did not direct it, but he was heavily involved in it) and we will have a Gladiator 2. He also said that he does not include sex scenes because he finds sex is boring if you are not making it, and yet he included it in Covenant in the most horror trope way ever. He is not really consistent in what he says, I want I think he only made this film for his buddy Fassy and in spite of Cameron's insect interpretation and to stay in control of the series, and absolutely not because he has something cleaver to say.
The series will only be dark tunnels, chest bursting and hiding and as such it needs to die.
I disagree somewhat.Something more basic isn't really where i saw things especially with Ridleys idea to place emphasis on A.I. over xenomorph as well as the return of the engineers.Blomkamps 5 would have been familiar as would anything Isolation related.Somethings acknowledged Alien Isolation already did such as another special order for example.
On the other hand while I do agree Covenant wasn't quite what Ridley wanted,I don't believe he would have made it though if he didn't believe in it.This is the guy that once said after Alien and Blade Runner he wouldn't do science fiction unless the script was really good. After trying to get Prometheus 2 running, and it seems they couldn't,They finally wound up with Covenant which is a compromise yes but still Ridley Scott 100%.If he didn't believe in this film Alien 5 would have likely happened instead I think.
Ripleys queen and Purvis's chestburster do bear resemblance ..
David could possibly conduct experiments at leisure aboard the Covenant- an almost perfectly controlled environment. If David achieved its desired results, it could then seek a planet or moon that best suits the result's needs instead of trying to create something only suitable to human environment. Doing otherwise would seem a narrow view from a being like David.
I also think David is at a point of deliberately deceiving the Company- they must be viewed as inferior to David as well.
