In response to the OP, I think it’s highly plausible that WY could find and extract Big Chap given the last known Nostromo coordinates, scanning technology, etc... the Xenomorph / Black Goo is their primary focus, investing over a Trillion dollars in research for it. You bet they're going to comb every inch of space they can to find their next meal ticket. Ripley on the other hand, was simply a blue collar worker, they had no interest in recovering her whatsoever, they probably saw her pod floating through space and ignored her, assuming it would tie up a loose end.
So for that argument, I'm not overly concerned about the likelihood of finding Big Chap in space.
As for the Hyperdyne Systems Android, I suspect it's either a flashback sequence OR a busted up version found and brought back online in the Romulus station. Perhaps when they do, the Android warns them of the outbreak which occurred or whatever happened to cause the station to be abandoned.
My initial concerns were in response to the younger crew, but after watching the teaser, I don't have such a concern anymore, I'm more optimistic now than I was a year ago, for sure.
I wouldn't say it isn't connected at all, but just not directly to Romulus. Which means we'll likely have no reference of the "Prodigy Corporation" in Romulus, but I'm sure there will be Weyland-Yutani references in the show.
I definitely think it's another instance of someone being trapped in a room (with Facehuggers I bet) and the remaining crew being like "nu uh we gotta close the door". Definitely.
Happy Easter! :) Hope you don't find any eggs... lol
Good to see you again NCC 1701 :)
I'm thinking things will wake up around here when we have a full trailer. Here's to hoping. Since this isn't a sequel to any other movie and teaser is literally that, a teaser. There's just isn't much to sink into with it right now. I have mixed feelings about the teaser but gotta say they have done well In keeping much of the movie a mystery.
If I had to guess come Alien day we'll get a full trailer
I've heard pretty much the opposite. That they did indeed CGI Ian Holm. I have literally 0 issue with another twitchy A/2... just really don't want to see CGI Ian Holm. I really wish Hollywood and Disney especially would get over that.
yes and Wow , poor chap had a rough time out there freezing and banged up from Ripley all that time , real interesting what it will look like
Hi Jonesy , l`ll just wait a bit to put the two side by side ,,until we see more , just hoping on Alien day , we get a much longer one , then we can vote , but for now ,,i like it , Romulus
I rewatch Alien Resurrection today lol and I enjoy it. And it comes to my mind that Ripley has become more affectionate to the Xenomorph and Android (Call), while calling the human as real "monster".
I still hope the prequel series (Prometheus part 3) will see the light of the day. I believe after Romulus, audience will appreciate the huge world that Ridley has created. And David is such a bad ass character that deserve a trilogy to complete its own prequel saga.
Very observant!
[SPOILERS]
Could it even be the original big chap who's awakened and recovered? That'd be my primary guess. According to the leaks it was in rough shape but not dissected right? A wild guess is that 'Ol Chap wakes up during or after the process of extracting the black goo, and goes on a killing spree.
Or, a new xenomorph emerges and I guess it's then either damaged by hazardous environment or a glancing shot from an upward or downward angle (vent shootout maybe)
Those are my two cents!
Well from what I hear from AVP Galaxy, its not exactly Ash but another android from the same Hyperdyne A series. His name is going to be called Rook
I tend to avoid watching Alien Resurrection unless I'm doing a series-wide marathon, from which I skip the AVP movies... unless they reboot the AVP films and set it in the future
I always assumed it was the dead Space Jockey that activated the distress signal
Ah yes, the back... bloodburster
The only thing I can think of is the derelict ship still transmitting an automated repeating signal on all frequencies a long time after the space jockey died.
I am still curious who exactly sent the "warning" signal to the Nostromo. It was never explicitly mention in the movie.
Speaking of Alien Resurrection, I think it is such a cult classic. It's lighthearted and somewhat ridiculous but professionally executed. The bonding of Alien and Ripley is such a joy to watch.
Yeah hopefully he won't be allowed to direct another Alien film even though I'll admit I kind of liked his Event Horizon as a guilty pleasure kind of like Alien Resurrection.
Good to see you as well ninXeno426, hopefully more veterans well return as well as new users. I've done a bit of marketing on another site with a poll and then smoothly/passive-aggressively recommending scified in my sig there.
Regarding Ash I'm not sure if it's a good idea to include him but for the reason that it'll likely be a predictable outcome (i.e evil intentions, yet again) and predictability is never good in a horror film, or at least kept to s minimum.
As for OG Alien turned Frozen Chappie it's a bit of a stretch indeed but I can buy it if they do it in a convincing manner.
Yeah this is a tough one but I vote Prometheus simply it was a return to form after what Paul W S Anderson did to AVP
Funny, my mom actually liked Prometheus. Especially the Engineers and their Alien God plot
Monster Zero what you describe there is what watching Prometheus with my mother was like lmao.
A couple years ago I said Alien needed a back to basics approach in the vein of Halloween 2018. I don't want to regret saying that. I already almost do
Hello Neomorph. Glad to see you're still haunting these halls as well.
My concern is that after the prequels came in perhaps a little too heavy with their philosophy, Romulus will attempt to play things a little too safe by saddling the movie with too much nostalgia bait. Kind of like Rise of Skywalker. We almost already have a "Somehow Palpatine returned" moment hinted at. Also after stating it's a stand alone movie, Alvarez has turned around and said there's significant ties to pretty much all the movies.
My guess is that those rings belong to the gas giant Calpamos, which makes sense location-wise as the events in Romulus unfold between the first two films, the latter both taking place on LV-426, one of Calpamos' moons.

Calpamos and its three moons LV-426, LV-223 and an unknown moon.

The gas giant and its rings and one moon vaguely seen from LV-426.
This is tough one but I think the Prometheus teaser hit slightly harder partly because it was the main man Ridley behind it, but also due to the fact that it was really well edited and kept you guessing.
Other heavy names such as Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba were also attached to it meaning quality acting was to be expected. Speaking of that and regarding Alien Romulus, I have no idea who this young cast is but hopefully they can pull it off in a convincing way. The Romulus teaser looks fantastic no doubt both on a technical and especially aesthetic level. I also love the camera work with classic slow pans and the hallway dolly shots.
This one is by jacobking

I love Alien Isolation ( I've played through it dozen times ...in VR a couple of times )....But I'm the only one of my friends/family that knows anything about it, their disdain for Prometheus and A:Covenant showed me they have little patience for nuance or having to think.
Family "Who's that?! Why is that happening?! When did that happen??"
Me "Uggh.."
I'm hoping for a jump scare thrill ride....But I'll be happy with just about anything.
"a creepy half-dead xenomorph on an operating table"
Cool visual.
You think there'll be too much fan-service/ familiarity in a negative sense? I'd personally prefer if the original Alien and all its ambiguity was left alone in the first place considering the complete overhaul Prometheus did with the backstory, adding grand philosophical questions about life and creation and yada yada yada, but it is what it is and this is what we've got.
Sure Aliens expanded upon the mystery surrounding the derelict on LV-426 with a colony and a queen but it was still within the same tone of the first film that it all came down to: a highly dangerous alien species that W-Y wants to exploit no matter what the cost.
While I think it's too early to jump to conclusions about Romulus, I like the idea of bringing (what most likely is) W-Y back and horror aboard a distant, claustrophobic space station as it sort of moves back within the scope of the old Alien films. I also like the idea of bringing the old chap back in this manner, a creepy half-dead xenomorph on an operating table, as it reminds me of The Thing.
With that being said however, my huge concern (thanks to the half-assed final act in Covenant) and even bigger question here is whether the classic concept still effectively works on the big screen. I want to believe it does with the proper execution (tight script, direction and acting)
Alien Isolation still proves to this day that a xenomorph endlessly popping out of vents throughout a 15-20hr repetitive yet masterful game is a horrifying experience, but on the other hand it has the additional horror- and surprise element of your own interactions.
I want to believe Alien Romulus will scare the s*** out us once again, and I'm open to new twists and turns as long as it's tense and remains persistent overall.
All in all, I'm carefully optimistic.
Would be cool if they bring this weapon and the movie's lore into the ALIEN RPG
Definitely android. The facehuggers seemed to ignore him in the teaser as they crawled past him from the doorway and chased another character.
Cool design. Looks like it was made by the same manufacturer who made the other pulse rifle which is a compliment to the concept artist.
Well ho-ly smokes good find Chris! This explains why things went to s*** on the station. Getting proper horror vibes from that scene: a xenomorph on an operating table and guys in spooky hazmat suits *shivers*
Read another topic that it's confirmed (!) please ignore my previous comment as I couldn't delete it.
Interesting, maybe W-Y sends out a ship to retrieve big (frozen) chap or the frozen chap just happens to float by the Romulus & Remus station (remember, W-Y operates throughout deep space)and its crew decides to bring it inside in true The Thing fashion. What could possibly go wrong?
I think we might see some egg morphing if Big Chap/Kane's Son is the primary xenomorph antagonist
