As for the documentary I talked about:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6674514/
ScorpioStar There is a series that spends the last part of each episode showing how the crew sets up shots and camps out for weeks- respect all the work that goes into those shows! I will have to look up Kangaroo. Is it tied in with a series or is that what the series is called? I will check Netflix.
IRaptus If all goes well, I will check out Cube 0 tonight.

Documentaries... I work with spotting/timing for subtitles, and I just saw (worked with) KANGAROO - still crying for those poor guys :(
Documentaries change your mind.
ScorpioStar Not really movies and definitely not scifi but also watching a lot of animal kingdom documentaries, especially ones by the BBC. Outstanding footage and narration.
@dk
Movies in general. You are what you watch in terms of movies - or so some would say so...
Dogs have the talent to be the best alien beasts ever :)
I like the whole Quadrilogy. A3 is one that gets better with age. I also think the Runner is the coolest beast next to the original Xeno.
Wasn't sure if you meant which Alien movie we were watching or just scifi in general. Sorry to steer OT if I did.
@dk
THE Cube, first and ever, what a movie!
So, just guessing, you'd be a "Alien/Alien 3" person?
Yes. Watched the first two way back when. Didn't like the second one but heard the 3rd was good. Now I plan to give it another shot.
For general Scifi, just re watched Cube and working on the sequels.
yea they could. theyd have to have david go into a decent description of how he did it or it would just be a lazy way of doing it imo
Although, they could always just say he created a modification etc.
critters. well it hasn't affected him in 10 years so it obviously doesn't affect synthetics in its current form so yea
Yea Marvel is cooked.
Ali that's a great point, the goo would likely not mesh with non-flesh.
or, what about they use this other form off mutagen on Walter? he is broken and they cant get any info out of him when they return to planet 4 so the use the mutagen to restore him and then see he can be used as a weapon against David?
It's the sheer amount of movies they are making and planning to make in the franchises, it's more and more and more. It's saturation. It's like cake, it's not special if you eat some everyday.
the dark horse comics succeed because comic writers are afforded more leeway when it comes to out of the box writing I think. I like the way its done with Elden in the fire and stone comics but I don't think it would work just as easily in this series. u have to take the fact David has already stated the goo is aim at fauna only and leaves flora alone. id say at this point with that statement, even an AI with organic material would be hard to mutate as only the organic matter would be affected. David will have to alter the goo in his experiments for it to be realistic enough to show an AI being fully changed for us to get the bio-mechanical xeno we all know and love. or maybe the engineers have a form of the mutagen that will affect David?
I wrote about this last year, was sure Ridley would go with something like the comics. I think quite a few people here have been feeling it go off in that direction for awhile too.
There is a great video on the subject in here:
ELOISE: HALF-ANDROID, HALF-XENOMORPH.
Also, don't forget in the same comics series (Dark Horse) there is a Ripley android clone, and Jerry, a xenomorph-android who was built to spy on the Alien hives and an android (working Joe) who deviated from his programming to explore and become more human. Plenty of material for the writers to get ideas from, or probably have gotten ideas from.
P.S-Plz Ridley, no xeno-droids, thanks xx.
P.P.S- BigDave, i'm gonna feature this for ya.
wev seen it done in movies where a character who doesn't speak English, speaking in there native tongue then mid sentence blend into English. take hunt for red October. the Russian diplomatic officer is reading from a book and u see this switch. difficult to do when there are humans in the scene but when we see dialogue between engineers theres no reason they couldn't do this or stick to subtitles. I like the mystery about them and not knowing what their saying but if they are finally gna get some real screen time we need their dialogue to understand the plot
just doesn't seem to be any shred of consistency here. Prometheus got bombed for not having enough beasts so RS forced the neo and xeno into covenant and yet it still gets bombed. that has to fall into Ridley's lap. hes not done it properly. we get a beast at the very end of Prometheus and the beasts in covenant are poorly used. I don't know if its a lack of imagination on Ridley's part or the studio wont back him but we seem to be heading towards Bladerunner spinoffs here.
bigdave, that poster sums AC up to a tee. the graphic portrayal of engineers, xenos and facehuggers suggested one thing and in reality, it had nothing to do with the movie. complete false advertising and yet another let down imo.
Dave, how could the explain a plot detail like that with the Engineers if they don't speak English? Subtitles?
Can't wait to see the furthering of Disney's social agendas creep into the Alien universe.
Well, Disney very well taken care of Star Wars. Maybe Alien finally get good management/writers and other stuff.
Disney needs to cool their jets. Seriously, they're like the blob, gobbling things up left and right and getting too big for their own good...
As for the Alien prequels, Ridley needs to just be able to do his thing. People keep poking their fingers into his movies, he had the whole idea for Prometheus figured out originally with the Space Jockey, then it was decided he should make it a trilogy, that's how this mess came about.
*Lovely, I double posted by accident, lol
I like it, glad to see Jonesy is on it.
Fabulous artwork. Simply fabulous.
Certainly is interesting...
it would be interesting to see what LIFE Origae-6 has, because even if it has no Humanoid Inhabitants a World that is not far off a Earth-like World would have some Life-forms and i think this is where they could get very creative.
Indeed a lot could change by then...
I think RS/FOX and Logan have a basic Plan of where this is going, its a Question now of if the response to Alien Covenant will lead them back to the drawing board a little.
Ridley Scott did mention Alien Awakening in the Order that it was between Prometheus and Alien Covenant in the Time-line, but this could be a mistake by RS... even though Alien Awakening would fit logically between them with that Title, if it covered indeed the beginning of the Alien Organism, we can see that Alien Covenant showed us the Fruits of DAVIDS Labor to arrive at those EGGS and so at the time RS made this comment, it had some of us indeed wondering if the next movie will cover events between Prometheus and Alien Covenant, as far as what David was up to... But would this make a good movie? where we see David wondering around Planet 4, cataloging the Life on that Planet and Experimenting on it?
So i think Alien Awakening is a unlikely title to any more set between Prometheus and Alien Covenant, and i dont think we will see any such Prometheus 2.5 movie. Alien Awakening is also a working Title, this could be changed at any point.
Alien Awakening as a Title is misleading because it would have fans think we will indeed get more clues to the Xenomorph as far as the ONE in ALIEN
Ridley Scott has mentioned a fair bit about the direction the Next Movie will go, but this has been covered a few times by myself and others and it will be interesting if this kind of Plot is something we are getting or if things will change.
Its all gone a bit Quiet... with only RS saying that the next movie will Focus on AI and what kind of a World David would want to Build, and less focus on the Xenomorph and in hindsight RS route to distance itself from the Xenomorph in Prometheus was ahead of the Game.
I think it has taken all the Hard Work Prometheus was attempting and brushed it all under the Carpet, i think it took all the History of the Franchise and re-hashed this to be purely about DAVID and his Arc and Agenda.
I am up for a bit of this... but not to the detrimental effect on other elements it has had
I think this reply in another Topic Fits here too...
Indeed ali81 this was maybe Alien Covenants main Problem... it was trying to please all fans, but by doing so it have so little to please them, that it ultimately disappointed most of every type of Fan.
The 2nd Problem was the Marketing and Hype, it was bigged up as a ALIEN movie and a real HORROR flick, when it was just a Gore Fest to a degree, but not as Gory as it could have been. When RS and the Marketing pushed this movie a lot of Fans expected it would be about the XENOMORPH and it would Scare the !"£$%$ out of people, and RS had been saying about bringing the ALIEN Vibe back and Waterton talking about Ripley and Action...
These all lead Fans to think they was in for a Action Packed Xenomorph Flick, and that Poster of Engineers vs Xenomorphs did not help ONE bit.
Alien Covenant: did not answer or seem to begin to answer in as good detail the events of the Space Jockey, but some fans need understand we have not reached this yet.
Alien Covenant: did not give ALIENS fans and some Fanboys enough Action.
Alien Covenant: did not do justice for ALIEN fans in replicating the Haunted House of Alien.
Alien Covenant: did not utilize or answer anything PROMETHEUS fans was expecting not in a ideal way and Dr Shaw and the Engineers where brushed under the carpet.
Alien Covenant: changed what we thought about the Xenomorph Origins, giving us a Curve-ball that a Rogue Android, with Daddy Issues and Human Issues went mad and decided to play Dr Frankenstien which has not settle down well with many.
On top of these issues, the movie just had so many other flaws, that also dogged Prometheus.

@ali81
Indeed the introduction of the Xenomorph, was done so poorly because it was never given enough time to do justice and the time taken on it, really did just take away time to explore either some of the Prometheus themes or the Neomorphs...
Oram should have been infected late on, and have the Neomorphs replace the Xenomorph attack Scenes, and then have Oram taken to the Lander with David (pretending to be WALTER) and have the survivors think its Walter too.
This would allow TWO 3rd acts... either
1) Have it when the crew are settling in for their last hours on the ship before going into Cryo-sleep, that Oram then Chest Bursts and David keeps it Secret, then allowing this Xenomorph to go and hunt down Hicks and Upworth in the Shower, then give us more time where the Xenomorph can hunt down and kill LOPE before getting killed off by Daniels...
2) As above (have LOPE Die in the Lander Escape Scene vs Neomorph) but have the surviving crew make it back and then David checks on Daniels as she goes into Cryo-sleep and have her ask how Oram is and Walter (David) say he is doing fine, i have placed him in Cryo-sleep).. Then Proceed with the rest of the David tucking Daniels Scene in and replace the Face Hugger Embryos, with a Chest Busting Oram as the closing Scene with David looking on.
THESE would have allowed more time to be given between the build up of Characters, Neomorph Scene or the scenes that reveal what happened when David and Shaw arrived. I feel ONE of these kinds of Xenomorph Encounters, plus a extra 30 min run time would have allowed other areas of the movie to be explored in more depth and made a MUCH better movie.
@Critters5
Indeed Origae-6 must have been less ideal, but still a World that would require very little Terra-forming and this place apparently would have had Water etc, and been Habitable just maybe not as suited as Planet 4. Pretty much like on Earth certain Continents are less Fertile than others.
