for me, there is only one alien design, that would be the 1979 Giger original smooth translucent domed skull, stainless steel looking teeth and all. why Cameron and all the rest chose to deliberately bastardize such a sleek / otherworldly / original design is truly disappointing to me i will say, that the alien "baby" in Alien Resurrection had a certain creepiness to it other than that, all the rest just look like really boring replicas, all subjective of course

The original, without a doubt. It is by far the creepiest of the bunch. Its less of a warrior (as in the later films) and more of a survivor. I mean seriously what would you do if you were 'born' into a ship surrounded by Aliens who were out to get you with nets, flamethrowers etc...... My god, I am actually sympathising with the xenomorph...?

The original. The others are okay too, but I prefer the original. The 'baby' from Alien Resurrection made me laugh - and that's not a good thing.

Yes! Page 54 for sure is the same shape :) Looking through this, makes me wonder just what is going to happen to this crew. By that I mean, so many of these images are pretty much mutilated or bio-mechanical people, and although Giger is always pushing some sexual theme, there is always an aspect of it that makes one think pain/torture... Maybe it's just me but the way I see it, none of those (people?) in the paintings looks like they are having a good time. There is so much material here that they could borrow for Prometheus that would just be unbelievably disturbing! I feel bad for Shaw already, just assuming she is going to go through some sort of disgusting change lol.

I think the idea of the scene was that Ripley was so caught up in the moment of realizing that had set them up and still being shock of recent events that she didn't take notice of the door being opened. Look at how shock she was when he had his smile saying "there is a reason for this". Well that's my take on that scene. =)

H.R. Giger and Salvador Dali worked together on Alejandro Jodorowsky’s failed attempt to bring Dune to the big screen. H.R. Giger was brought into the project because Dali mentioned him to Jodorowsky. Dan O'Bannon was also involved, in part thanks to his success with Dark Star. O'Bannon met Ronald Shusett while working on Dune, and the two later wrote the original story for Alien. So in this confluence of events, Dan O'Bannon and H.R. Giger met. Had this not happened, it's doubtful Alien would ever have been produced, and literally none of us would be here on this board right now! well thanks Nephilim, this linking with Giger's creativity and the subject of the original Alien film as a whole in an intuitive way with the urge to record the events that went into making the whole film is something that I do a lot. Whether it will work as well with Prometheus is another thing.

Great Point, and also, in the book Alien Vault, that painting Giger did of the Alien Life Cycle really really stands out and is to me one of the best pieces of art in Science Fiction / Surrealest History.

its cool they are humanoid but still impressively alien looking...yeah i would bet that is the infamous jockey... accprding to the creation myth of prometheus... prometheus felt sorry for humanity that was created as a slave race to serve the gods...so prometheus stole the fire of the gods to empower humanity...so maybe prometheus is a rogue space jockey...say the jockeys bred us to be their slaves..which would explain all the slaves used to build the pyramids and the great wall etc etc..but one jockey sympathizedwith humanity and enl;ightened them with the fire of the gods

well, this is what I noticed about the runes on the sarcophagus pod so far. I copied out the runes as we can see in the following two images and well, I suppose I'm a bit curious about them still despite some of them looking like American football posts and baseball stumps. Sorry mate! But each to their own I guess. I just prefer vocals that don't go for all out power, that's all. Less is more n' all. And so many notes per line! More than a bank! But that's very cool, that your old man was in charge of Decca. I run my own UK based independent label, we've had air play on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 6 in the last six months. None of it sounds like Adel though!

I thought about it last night and here's my total take. I do not like HER, i think she is a very simpleton type gal from London or Liverpool, but what I DO like, what impressed me, was THAT SONG..."Rolling In The Deep", which was IMO brilliantly written by HER to suit her own style. I may have been a bit too opinionated about her but I stand by this point...If You saw her do that song LIVE on the Grammys and still think she was AWEFUL, IMO you are wrong and she wasn't. Other than that, she does nothing else for me, I listened to the rest of the LP and do not like it, just that song, and perhaps one other on it "Rumour Has It". But that performance, was MAGIC and GOLD, and because of it she is going to add several million dollars to her world wide sales numbers. She is 100% extremely talented. But again, in case you care and it looks like you do, sorry if I was rough about it but all personal feelings aside she has Big Time Talent to wrote and sing a song like that that well !!!

Almost all of the song titles could be perfect for the alien universe. I doubt the singers voice will be included in the final score of the trailer. While her voice is hauntingly beautiful I don't see Enya'esque vocals being used in a sci-fi trailer. I can certainly see them using an instrumental version of the song Nest which seems more along the dark and bleak nature of Prometheus. IMHO of course!

craigamore has the theory pretty much spot-on, IMO. Whatever that substance is, it has transformed that human into something not very nice. Vickers's character is definitely not transforming in that 'press-up' picture either. Perhaps that is the exercises that they have to do when they come out of hyper-sleep or whatever it's called, if the other android really is responsible for getting them into shape. It could just be that Scott wants Vickers to look macabre and evil from the outset. What we have to remember is this is not going to be an all-out action movie; it's going to make us think. It's going to be much more 'intelligent' then the vast majority of sci-fi films. This is no Avatar. This is no Star Wars. This is no Aliens. This is far more akin to the original Alien, a thriller but executed very well. But it will be more thought provoking than the original Alien too, it will be more like a mixture of Alien, Blade Runner and 2001 A Space Odyssey. Scott wants to get that balance between addressing 'big' questions that will make us think and wonder, and having something that is thrilling, scary and exciting.

I think the helmet burning and implied transformation has been assumed due to the footage of something crawling under the skin on the cheek of the victim. The helmet burns but the corrosion does not appear to eat away at the persons face, it appears to react with his skin in a very strange way; parrasidic is my only point of reference, but again this is only a guess......

It's amazing the extensively deep thoughts that can be weened from a trailer and a few leaked pics and (bogus) scripts... whether any of us are right or wrong, isn't the point... it's the creative journey that's important... and I'm diggin' be on this one... with you guys!

Here's an idea - and remember it is only an idea - so don't flame me - how about the Alien, as we know it, is in fact derived from contact between an android and the bio-former / goop / green stuff (what ever the hell you do/don't want to refer to it as). We know David touches the stuff, perhaps he activates it somehow? And thus by interfering with Space Jockey's experiments the Alien is inadvertently created? Perhaps David even becomes contaminated with the 'bio-former' - perhaps he cut his finger whilst touching it? And remember folks, what I've posited here is only AN IDEA!!

Looks like the Green Goop is unofficially known as the Bio-Former; thank you very much fake leaked script. The sad thing is that the Goop is probably insignificant and is just a gel to protect the contents of the container. I'm pretty sure the fake script is the only source that referenced the gel as being important to the plot.

I completely dissagree because in one of the scenes in the trailer we can clearly see the goo enveloping/attacking it's host, and he's screaming like a son of a you know what.

I agree with the point that the Bio-Former was from the fan fic that made a buzz a while back. For some reason most people are buying into the bio-former plot device as though it's a known fact in the movie. I for one hope they do not go down that Bio-Former road. Star Trek has already covered that same ground with the Genesis device.

@Spartacus; I'm not sure about the 'bioform liquid' attacking someone. I know which scene you are referring to of the leaked trailer. You may be right but it appears more like a creature to me. The evidence from the pictures and scenes I have seen make me think that the 'bioform liquid' reacts with the host, are: a) the way it reacts after on the skin of the face of Holloway (possibly) after his helmet is disolved, and.. b) the reaction to the hand (possibly David) after contact.

@ Spartacus- That's right, forgot about that part. One of the reasons I wrote pretty sure so as not to make it a definite statement. I'm still glad that script was a fake though. @BellaisanAlien- I don't think Holloway's helmet has been dissolved but rather is hinged open and backward. You can still see a large light reflection in his visor to the right of him. I thought his visor still might be closed but if you look to the right where the hinge is you can see it looks like it just may be opened, probably by the person who is trying to help him. Something funny I remember from another forum talking about this scene from the leaked trailer before the official came out was somebody stubbornly arguing that this was a xeno attacking a fat person; looks like their xeno turned out to be Shaw or somebody else just trying to help him. Also can we be sure the two gels/ goos are the same in the trailer. You'd think David would be wearing some kind of protection, Android or not, if the stuff in the container is the same that's melting the poor guys helmet.
