This is a production company created by Ken Burns in 1999. I highly doubt there is an significance.

I noticed this as well, I thought it was funny. But highly doubt a connection to Ridley Scott's Prometheus. But who's to say Scott wasn't influenced at all by this documentary.

I kept thinking excatly that with each episode I have been watching, especailly episode 5 from season 1, wow, did I ever love that one...I have the whole 1st and 2nd seasons to date and love every minute of it. I keep thnking Scott must have enriched so many of his own ideas by watching this thing.

Ancient Aliens?
Not heard of this in the UK!! is it a documentary or a fictional series? sounds interesting though!

While I seriously doubt a specific connection to Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus', Prometheus Entertainment did produce a decent made for TV documentary about the Alien franchise entitled 'The Alien Saga'. It was released in 2002:

It's available on DVD and here's where you can verify my info on IMDB:

@Spartacus-I got one for you, check this out.
Sigourney Weaver's new movie coming out, Red Lights, is a picture made by Nostromo Pictures. Does that blow your mind or what? LOL.

'The Alien Saga' is pretty good...if you've seen the documentaries that came with the Alien Quadrilogy, you're not getting too much new information, but as always, it has its own perspective and I loved that it was narrated by John Hurt....that immersed you in the viewing as a fan....definitely worth a viewing.

@Spartacus,
Too much of a coincidence to be overlooked... anyway it really iterested me on why a production company would call itself Prometheus Entertainment. So I reread some things about Prometheus, the Titan. Maybe I am not reading the forums enough or something, but there is a simple issue I have not read about, until now. Their is so much emphasis on Prometheus stealing fire, but not only did he steal fire, but, he was also the creator of man. Just thought that was interesting.
And in my venture I found this video on the illustrator for Prometheus.

He's a tease though, he really doesn't talk about Prometheus until the end of the interview.

Humans are the greatest parasitic species....we adapt and kill whatever host(area) we move into until all resources are depleted and the host either conforms to our needs or dies.

Bah, it won't be Fox throwing the first bone anyway. It's usually the seedy-looking new guy from catering with a mobile phone in his pocket that manages to feed us heathens : P

the quality of trailers during the superbowl was very low ...i would say horrible ...total lack of ideas ...just caring about the "cool" factor ...everyone of them looked like a spin off of something else .

I noticed a few extra shots towards the end of the German trailer. However they are just different angles of the derelict ship falling over. These shots are very brief - split seconds.

I've just noticed something, not sure if its in the older trailer but in the german trailer at approx 36 seconds, you can see a big UFO in the sky, it appears to be coming out of a building. You can see the UFO in the other trailer but I didn't notice the building before.

@ Craigamore, My translation of "Dunkle Zeichen" comes out as "Dark Characters"
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumNew International TrailersFeb 6, 2012
Sorry...I took that translation from another site.
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumNew International TrailersFeb 6, 2012
In the Spanish trailer recording of the voices at first says:
Woman 1: No lo comprendéis = You do not understand
Woman 2: Se acerca, ¡se acerca! = the approaches, the approaches! or Is coming, is coming!
Woman 2: Necesitamos... = We need...
Woman 1: Me equivoque = I was wrong
Woman 1: Fue un grave error = I was so wrong
Woman 1: Lo siento mucho = I'm so sorry (Here I am not sure which of the two women belongs the voice which is a crying)
In the end shaw shouts: Por favor = Please!
PS: I'm not 100% sure but I think that women number 1 may be Elizabeth Shaw, and women's number 2 as Meredith Vickers, but I'm not entirely sure.

@Shamhala,
Por favor... lol. I'm going to have to agree with the translation.. as well, I think that is what is in the English trailer.. Thanks for verifying that for me.. lol.
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumNew International TrailersFeb 6, 2012
@danrald Yes, she says please (por favor), but I believe that it is only to give more drama and suspense to the trailer...

i read it (a long time ago) when alien 3 came out, i enjoyed the differences, thought the book added a lot to the story. the jockey ommission was probably not in the movie at that point.(the novel came out before the film i think) maybe it wasnt relevant to advance the story line , then, but it sure is now...
ReplycentrosphereAlien Movies Forum1979 ALIEN novelFeb 6, 2012
In "Alien Vault" it is said that Scott felt that it would be embarassing to film those poor, adventurous people voyaging million miles, and entering the derelict to find only a hole.
The SJ was in fact object of great dissenssion between Scott and Fox suits. They were all for scrapping it for cost reasons, but Scott was totally against the cut.
Maybe "Prometheus" is an expression of his gratitude to the big space jockey... :)
ReplySpartacusAlien Movies Forum1979 ALIEN novelFeb 6, 2012
I just reead that in 'Vault" last night. I have to say, and as I am sure most of you know by now, had it not been for the suits at Fox we would have seen a much different "Alien" film than we all did.
ReplycraigamoreAlien Movies Forum1979 ALIEN novelFeb 6, 2012
Re-read that section with the eggs...I believe he describes them as being more similar to the broken vase or 'ampule' that Dallas found in the main chamber, which, as has been discussed many times in this forum to this point, it seems may be some inspiration for the ampules we see in 'Prometheus' photos in the ampukle room with the giant 40ft. monolithic head.
As to the absence of the SJ, Foster was working from an earlier version of the script, as well as early concept art...his description of the facehugger includes an eye, which we all know did not make it in to the final concept, but was a part of Giger's early concepts for the FH.
