ALIEN- Masterpiece. 'Nuff Said.
ALIENS- Classic Action/Horror/Space Marine movie.
ALIEN 3- Never seen it, never will.
ALIEN Resurrection- Same as Alien 3.
Alien Vs. Predator- I love Predator but mixing them together is a bad non-canon idea that is ultimately pointless.
Alien vs Predator Requiem- Honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's also quite offensive to me as a fan of the original ALIEN and PREDATOR movies.
PREDATOR- Classic Action/Jungle Romp/Sci-fi 1980s gore fest. I love it.
PREDATOR 2- Never seen it, never will.
PREDATORS- Good idea BADLY executed.

ALIEN - as Nineteen Hundred stated - absolute masterpiece.
ALIENS - well thought-out action horror.
ALIEN 3 - This depends on the version you are referring to. If the released version then rubbish. If the special edition (the original version) then very good. Made a lot more sense.
ALIEN Resurrection - in my opinion they should have left it at number 3. This movie was only released to make money.

Alien - Sublime masterpiece.
Aliens - good action adventure with excellent technical effects for its day.
Aliens 3 not bad considering the crap fincher had to negotiate.
Alien res- disappointing but watchable
avp.....- an exercise in fleecing the public
avp requiem atrocious bad lighting bad editing bad idea.
predator..... very enjoyable romp in the jungle.
predator2..... popcorn at best.
predators........ run of the mill but watchable.

Alien- Still to this day, I can't watch this movie in the dark, alone! This is what sci-fi horror is all about!
Aliens- Greatest sequel ever made. Period! Also, my favorite movie of all time! Cameron doing what he did best: suspensful, sci-fi action thirllers!
Alien 3- Shouldn't have been made... Ripley and Newt slept all the way home, dreaming of a beautiful life together... There is no Alien 3, for me.
Alien Resurrection- Does not compute...
Alien vs. Predator- Fox trying to make big money...
Alien vs. Predator Requiem- Why did you guys give Fox all that money, just to try to make big money, AGAIN?
Predator- GET TO THE CHA'PA!!! Hellz yeah! Sick!!! Love this movie, love the cinemetography, and love the music! I also like how the characters reminded me of G.I. Joe!
Predator 2- The Xenomorph skull was cool, so was the female Predator... The movie, not so much...
Predators- This is what I expected Predator 2 to be... Not bad, pretty entertaining! Not a very original title though...

Thank you for this opertunity.
Alien- An absolute masterpiece, a classic that has blowen my mind and the minds of millions for 32 years!
Aliens- Iconic, brilliant, fun movie that I have always enjoyed! I at one time could recite every line word for word as the movie played, so that said I had seen it many many many times.
Alien 3- Originally dissapointed me, it seemed that they really only just wanted to end the franchise and would do it at any expense (evenif it was to let the fans down). But I wanted to like it so I wached it many times until I found the things that I liked, and with that the movie grew on me. Then the DVD Quadilogy set came out with that other version included. That I liked way more, and when I show the film to others I only show that version.
Alien Resurrection- An interesting rollercoaster of a film. I enjoyed it way better than Alien 3 right from the get go. I liked that they had found a way to "resurrect" the franchise. I liked the characters, I liked that mor than one person got to survive for once, and I liked enviroment and the effects. though like many I was a bit turned off by the "Newborn", but I forgave them because they killed it off fast. Over all I was very ok with this film and its execution.
Alien vs. Predator- I liked it, it was fun. It confused me a bit, but I decided to ignore that. Did not like that they tried to make it the definative prequel, infact that kinda infuriated me. But on it's own treating it like a stand alone mash up like 'Freddie vs Jason' I found it tolerable.
Alien vs. Predator Requiem- Well.... Hmm.... Ok only a small rant here. WTF were they thinking. Like the predator part of the story, was completly upset with the alien part of the story. The Predalien just pissed me right off, and making it a young Queen WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF. Using human females and directly implanting them and having them produce multiple chest/bellybursters OMGWTF OMGWTF OMGWTF FACEPALM FACEPALM FACEPALM FACEPALM FACEPALM. Ok I am done.
Predator- Loved it, classic! Fun and suspencful!
Predator 2- Enjoyed it too, was suprised to see a Alien skull in the ship! Started my dreaming of a Alien vs. Pred mashup, and ultimately lead to a true disaster.
Predators- Found it to be a very interesting idea for a film. Though the movie trailer lead me to think there was going to be alot more preds in it (the trailer scene with the mulitple aiming lazers on whats-his-nut's chest.
Hope I don't get bashed for my thoughts, as they are "MY' thoughts. But thanks again for letting me share this with you all.

Alien: The best!!!!! I stood out of my seat in the theatre and screamed when the face hugger got John Hurt, and that was my second screening! I also thought it was someone else screaming, lol.... like an out of body thing . People leaned and looked at me so.... Yes, Alien... the best!!!!
Aliens: Enjoyed it a lot because it was high action and camp. A good sequel I think.
Alien 3: I liked it! It was dark, kind of philisophical, and the Alien kiss on Ripley's cheek was ... priceless.
Alien 4: Garbage!
Predator: I enjoyed it, a new kind of alien. 'Popcorn' as someone else said before.
I've seen some of the sequels and A vs P and frankly I can barely remember them, so that says something.....
I love that there is a 'countdown clock' lol ; )

Alien: Obviously a classic movie
Aliens: See above, a classic horror/action movie and one of the more influential movies ever. I hear some people feel this movie was the inspiration between the entire first person shooter genre of video games, and is the best action movie of the 80's.
Alien 3: Complete disappointment. Regardless what Fincher had to deal with with script changes and all, it doesn't matter. The end result was a pretty uninteresting movie and the exact opposite of what fans expected after "Aliens". William Gibson's script should've been used. It would've expanded the xenomorph universe and created hundreds of directions it could've gone from there. The Alien 3 script that became the actual movie killed the franchise, because it left nowhere to go and didn't expand at all on the Alien life cycle or mythology at all. Ripley's story should've ended in Aliens, which is why I think the Gibson script should've been used.
Alien Resurrection: Complete Garbage. I thought the alien/human cross-breed was going to cry at one point. Enough said, we don't want Aliens with emotion.
AVP1: Another disappointment, but not horrible. Based on the way the games and comics went, 3 predators should've been able to tear through the few aliens in the movie. instead, 2 die right away, and the 3rd has to team with a human to survive. Also, PG-13 is not cool for this franchise.
AVP2: A step in the right direction, but the movie was so horribly shot that you can't tell what is going on. Hopefully the end of the series.
Predator: Classic action movie. Just behind Aliens and Die hard for best action movie of the 80's in my opinion, Completely original, the baddest bad guy ever versus the baddest action hero ever. Not Oscar worthy, but completely successful at what it was going for.
Predator 2: Very underrated action movie IMO, not as good as the first one but about as good a sequel as you could expect.

Alien- a really well crafted / solid / hardcore sci-fi-horror film.
as profound as it is iconic. spawned a generation of wannabe films.
often duplicated / never replicated. (see all listed below)
Aliens- in 1986, it was a good action film. in 2012,
it's merely a reductive remix / poor xerox of ALIEN
Alien 3- a decent film. i give it it's proper credit for at least
attempting to be original, and not as moronic as the film it followed,
but it lacked the starkness / moody atmosphere of the initial film
Alien Resurrection- a good script / story, just told in a really moronic way
Alien vs. Predator- trash
Alien vs. Predator Requiem- trashier
Predator- good popcorn sci-fi / action flick. great in it's day
Predator 2- generic as it was formulaic / commercial
Predators- decent story, just told in a generic way

Alien vs. Predator-bad do not watch
Alien vs. Predator Requiem-bad do not watch
Predator-good story, location(jungle) and action
Predator 2-a lot of predators in the end was the only good part
Predators-location good, horrible story

Alien- I like the immersive aspect of this film, including the acting. Didn't like Ripper's undies. She has her own gorgeous form but not enough butt for those. The disaster with Ash's head threw me a bit too (Ridley said it was because the latex had shrunk).
Aliens- Loved it. All of it. Watching the Rip' "gear up" like Arnie (as though a 200-round pulse rifle just wasn't enough) always brings a tear to my eye and a bulge to my pants.
Alien 3- Music and acting was fine. Visuals were fine. Didn't like the disrespectful disconnection of Cameron's story (couldn't even get the cryo tubes right while they were killing off characters in the opening credits).
Alien Resurrection- Whacky but watchable. Loved the scene when they pop out the water with the eggs waiting...very clever. Didn't like the chestburster turned headburster...silly.
Alien vs. Predator- Friend convinced me to watch this with him. He kept around the newer films, I preferred the older ones. I'll have to catch up with him this year...maybe Prometheus will be something we both like. I genuinely can't remember what AvP was about.
Alien vs. Predator Requiem- Haven't seen it.
Predator- Very simple plot. Loved it. Man vs alien out in the jungle.
Predator 2- Didn't mind this film, actually. Different environment, but didn't change the idea of a lone hunter.
Predators- Haven't seen it.
Reply RuhaniyaPrometheus ForumWhat do you guys think of the Alien rip off movies, such as Galaxy of Terrorand Jan 29, 2012
Last year was the first time I had heard of Galaxy of Terror, which I thought strange, cause I have always been an Aliens nut. I first saw a clip on You Tube which was this woman getting her cloths sucked off by a giant alien worm. But I didn't know what it was. Then, one day, I was buying some herbal ingredients and I asked the Gate Keeper if there was any cool interesting movies I could watch and of course it was GoT! I later got a download and watched it...I immediately recognize the Alien in the landscape in the beginning with the crashed spaceships! I was tripping that this movie was Prometheus done in an 80's style... like Retro-activated that's what happens when you think you've watched too much T.V. like 8 hours a day but you've only just begun when, really, you've just been sucked into the T.V. by your eyeball t.v.'s and your actually living in a tube. Stored as food for the aliens evil desires of watching us like T.V. But that might have a twilight zone episode flash back from all the kryptonite melting my brain. The thing is there are some pretty gruesome scenes but they are so plastic that you can manage the terror. Of course Prometheus will not be plastic ; )

@indexia, no that's a great plot theory in itself: perhaps it was a queen alien that departed the chest of the space jockey and then proceeded to create the chamber and lay eggs. The only real hole is that it seems a lot of work for one individual. But Ridley doesn't take kindly to the queen notion. So maybe all those eggs are cocoons of the indigenous alien population of the planetoid. Who knows, but either way, I think we agree the egg chamber should be separate to the Derelict itself.
Actually, I just thought: what if the egg chamber is indeed separate but it is basically a cargo loading bay used to load up the Derelict. This would satisfy Ridley's assertion that the Derelict was a bomber and our desire for the egg chamber to be detached from the Derelict.
@wherebasky? @humanityFTW, having just refreshed our memory, we know Dallas tells Ripley that Ash was a replacement 2 days before leaving Thedus for Earth. Suggesting that the company did indeed know about something. In fact, the confidential message for science officer eyes-only was "bring back organism". So, assuming Ash wasn't in radio contact with the Company (because the distance doesn't allow realtime communication) they must have known about some organism before Alien even happened. But then why did they wait for these truckers to 'drive past' so-to-speak - why not send a special team?
Completely agree wheresbasky?, in Aliens, they're on LV-426 for "30 years" and strangely they haven't surveyed a planetoid 1200 mi/km wide/round (forgot already). Satellite surveyors like on Mars were not around at the time of the film's inception, but it's a sci-fi film for crying out loud. Sounds like a plot hole to me.
HumanityFTW, surely they would have detected the warning signal when they returned to LV-426? Whether they returned in search of the Prometheus or for unrelated terraforming reasons. Just doesn't make sense for the Derelict not to be refound well before Ripley was refound. This is probably why Ridley has distanced himself and Prometheus from everything that followed Alien. So really we should completely ignore Aliens, Alien 3, Alien: Resurection, and if you hadn't anyway, AvP and AvP:R.

They still don't spend enough time searching the derelict for my liking!!! then again does it beg the question,Has humanity has encountered a lot of alien culture in that future to dismiss it out of hand?

wheresbasky?, yeah for the first time, I was watching it from an over-zealous analytical point of view (due to all the intricate discussions on here), and unfortunately, similar questions were running through my head.
1. Would you not survey the entire perimeter of the Derelict before you decide to embark inside? Perhaps report back to the Lander since radio contact broke down and develop a new plan given the new information.
2. As previously debated on this forum, the eggs chamber is VAST. I mean huge! There is a shot of Kane descending and you can see the background going on and on and round the corner - which means it can't be inside the Derelict (unless it's like a TARDIS). But this contradicts Ridley's assertions that the Derelict "was a bomber" carrying the eggs. The scene actually supports the idea that it was actually a chamber beneath the Derelict, as many on this forum have proposed.
3. As you say wherebasky?, casual and lax security and attention to biohazard while attending to Kane in the infirmary. I mean fair enough, it's a towing rig, not an operating theatre, but there seems to be no concern that the facehugger may detach and attack another person. Ripley enters casually to talk to Ash while Kane and the facehugger rest behind them!
4. I will allow the fact that quarantine policy was undermined because it was part of the plot but surely you might send a second expedition to conclude their investigation and even get info on how to help Kane. But again, this would affect plot line.
But hey, I don't think I could have improved on Ridley's version. I'm just nit-picking with my new-found analytical brain. Lol.
I got to say, I love the egg chamber, it is immense and I wish (as it indeed looks) not on the Derelict itself but underground in a cavernous Alien world. But Ridley has already stated the eggs are onboard the Derelict. Oh well.

2. "Oh look, it's a space jockey with hole in it's chest, anyway look at that hole in the ground, it's much more interesting". Of course, I'm paraphrasing but essentially that's what happened, not enough awe and thunder around discovery of the space jockey itself. But you're probably right, Ridley needed to keep the pace.

Well, although the time line was set 57 years on,in the film Aliens, It was mentioned that the marines had encountered Xenomorphs(of some description) before, as their commander termed the "phrase" during his mission briefing and the marines referred to it as another bug hunt! also Crowe wanted some more Octurian poomtang!!! who or what are Octurians?(answers on a postcard please)
I'm not one for using forums to dissect movies as a rule, so my musings may be lame and soooo 15 minuites ago to some of the die hards, but I don't recall the lack of interest in the derelict being brought up when the film came out, as the alien was the story and not the derelict. Then again in the olden days we all used to take a movie on face value! because after all it was just a movie
also we have become more savvy now and demand more fact and less fiction from a movie, unless it is totally detached from our reality.
Now that the derelict is the story, I can't wait, as I think that yarn could hold so many possibilities if the right imagination is used to spin it!!!

Hi, I always wondered that too. The egg chamber is far too large to be part of the derelict and I though that it had been there many hundreds or perhaps even thousands of years and that whatever had burst out of the sj had gone on to create that huge chamber under the derelict. I always had the feeling there was perhaps something else living in there but we just didnt get to see it. Probably flawed, but just my opinion.
Replywheresbasky?Alien Movies ForumALIEN on FILM4 in UK 11PM GMT tonightJan 29, 2012
Trouble is!!
in the olden days you could free wheel a bit more with your story line,as we would readily accept what we saw on the screen as long as the plot moved along at the right pace for the movie and would want to know what happens next!! as the alien was the story and not the derelict.
no internet either, you would spend a couple of pints down the pub with a few like minded mates, discussing the minutia of a movie and maybe bring up the issues raised here then forget about it after closing time!!!
I think Ridley has realised that It's time to to tell the derelicts story as he May have mentioned in interview that there is a story to tell!! also might be fed up of fans hounding him to tell the tale!!
The internet makes it impossible to leave gaping holes in your story line these days as people like us are ready to jump on it!!! we have become to savvy to just enjoy the magic any more!!!

ok, so after wathcing ALIEN last night, afew thoughts popped into mind like many have done to all of us it seems... in accordance with prometheus. One qustion i thought of, and i wouldnt mind having answered was (and i know it may have been raised before):
Did the company already know of the aliens, since Ash had a hidden agenda and mission, which you find out towards the end, about the "new lifeform" and the planet itself, i couldnt help thinking it was hinted that the company knew of it (Which prometheus may try and explain). Or is it common practice to have any recently discovered new life forms brought back to be analysed?
Replywheresbasky?Alien Movies ForumALIEN on FILM4 in UK 11PM GMT tonightJan 29, 2012
There seems to be a theme within Alien and Aliens with the company at the center of it, Dallas mentions that his regular science officer was replaced two days before departing for earth by Ash. also in Aliens the marines regular commanding officer was replaced by a less experienced commander before they shipped out!!!
Here's the thing though the company must have surveyed LV 429 for terraforming and then totally missed the derelict!!! or did they have an ulterior motive to terraform and kept the colonist in the dark? I think they have been aware of the alien, probably as a result of events in prometheus movie?? we can but wait in eager anticipation!!!

I've been using a gauge between conflict and sexuality (two most interesting elements from Greek mythos) to try and guess where Ridley is going but was looking at it from the perspective of Prometheus alone.
I'm tempted now to shift the gauge away from conflict and meet halfway with sexuality because the current timeline is looking much shorter than it could be and the whole name of the film suggests it's going to be a small pinch from Greek mythos.
My current take is that Prometheus will 1) explain and finalize the story/sexual aspect of Alien; 2) introduce new sexual overtones; 3) reveal a greater conflict in the universe.
Where the sequel could be like a battle for the cosmos, war between the "Gods", etc.
Whether humanity is really involved in the first film is another matter. I don't see any hints of a Lucas/Cameron-style theme where the humans and aliens communicate to each other or fight with/against each other. I think Ridley is deliberately making us "observers" this time, much like the people that wrote the biblical texts. We'll create our own problems and mischief, but it will end up being inconsequential to the bigger picture. Sure, humanity will be under threat as per the Fox synopsis, but so will everything.
At least that's what I think will happen.
