I really dig this scene. No matter what angle, it is absolutely stellar. The one thing that I keep reminding myself about, is the fact that Ridley wouldn't allow this stuff to be released, if he wasn't saving the 'good stuff' for the full screening. cool new pic, i like how we cant see the eyes......little creepy BUT it would be nice to see a new picture other than this scene. i feel like we have seen a dozen pictures of different angles in this scene. maybe the whole movie takes place in this one area lol

i think is a perfect marketing operation .... a) is that the main scene of the movie ? b) is just a bait to spill over and over the same things and keep hidden all the others ? c) its to lead you away from the real plot because other scenes will be too revealing ? d) they stay 3 hours there ??

...and David (out of shot or behind the head). I know what you hinting at Danrald, but I seriously doubt that Imora would be the woman on the poster because she's not the main character, Shaw is (Noomi Rapace is the first name in the cast list on the poster).

I've often thought how I would make a movie, and I really like the way Ridley Scott has handled this movie SO far. If it were me, there would be VERY little footage released period, with just enough to stir the imagination as seen on these message boards. With regards to the "head", I think it would be great to see this mission first concerned with exploration & discovery, only to end up being a fight for survival after encountering "malevolent" beings..... I

How about the reason their remove their helmets being a scan of the atmosphere reveals the air is BREATHEABLE. What I would like to see the movie develop into would be a discovery so beyond the imagination of humans, that the crew of the Prometheus find themselves WAY OVER THEIR HEADS.......

Hi, it's my first post but have been lurking for a while and loving all of the analysis, insights and opinions of what we have seen so far. I have followed most posts but not every so excuse me if I am repeating other peoples thought. It occurred to me looking at this latest image that the big head, urns, etc, could be what is found on Earth, pointing them to the home world of the engineers. This would include the star map we have already seen. This would explain why they are walking around with their helmets off (the suits are being worn because they were going into an "alien" structure found on Earth - unknown atmosphere). The urns contained the bio-goo DNA which was the genesis of Man, hence the giant head iconology. What do you think, does my theory stand?

I know, doesn't make sense. I mean, you'd think it was natural light, (from a hole in the roof?) but if it's the site on Earth, it shouldn't really have a "sky light" because it would have been buried. So this could further support the premise the room is on another world. Also, notice the "freckles" on the big head. Could those be burn marks caused by xenomorph blood??? They also look like tears, which would be an appropriate metaphor. I love this picture.

Jeffomorph, that's just one of the aspects of this film I'm looking forward to. If not telepathic communication, but some sort of voice/verbal, I think some bizarre sound effects will be called for this and many other things no doubt. Can't wait.

What made Alien great was that there was no communication with the xeno. It was just there to eat and breed. No negotiations, no truce. When's the last time you held a conversation with your chicken nuggets? It's simply there to serve a purpose. Food. Did you apologize to them for eating them? Did you think it was necessary? I hope there is no communication. I feel the SJ's are a single minded race who are only interested in furthering species (theirs/others?) whether that species agrees or not. Think Ligers. Did we ask their permission to screw around with the gene pool? I hope SJ's are void of communication, consideration and conscience.

When's the last last time you had to ask a Liger for permission to screw with its gene pool? How about your chicken nuggets? Do you ask them permission/apologize to them before eating them? I think/hope the SJ's won't communicate. They won't need to. It's not necessary to their mission. Breed/eat/repeat. That's what made the first Alien so mysterious, there was no communicating/negotiating with it... only surviving... or not.

How are they going to tackle the overwhelming evidence for primordial man the huge head if we are to believe is some monument to man or the creators of men must address mans early development ie Neanderthal and the lineage from that point onwards. Unless of course we go into the adam and eve scenario and eve was created from the ribs of a space jockey aghhhh.

I'm with Db on this one, conversing with us would be like us trying to converse with an ant. Although there has to be some way the crew become aware of their malevolence. if they speak English, it just wont be right.

@alteredstate: Sure it is. I stand corrected as to the literal definition of communication. Was it code? Binary? Morse? Whatever it was, was it an invitation to an ambush? Or does Shaw leave it as a: "stay the f___ away", before the chestburster kills her inside te SJ suit?

Theres always the possibility that the tall guy is a messenger between the Space Jockeys and Us.

depends on how it was handled, as a translator it would suck, but as a "butler" with an agenda, that might be interesting.

IMO the tall/bald guy is more important than a servant, butler, or mechanic. That big giant noggin of his in the ampule room shows his importance and leads me to believe that he IS the big kahuna in the story. There are two possibilities. He is a Jockey sans suit, or he and the Jockey are seperate species. If it's the latter, my guess is that the Jockeys answer to him. @Biomechanic Thanks for catching my David/Data slip lol I assure you it wasn't intentional. Now back to the communication theory--I think the ultimate creep factor would be if they beings completely ignored the crew for the most part. Then when somebody messes up or takes something they shouldn't, they finally turn their attention to the crew... And that is a bad thing.

One idea (pretty much mine to be honest) could be that the icon, the big head is a representation of what man will look like in a thousand or so years. Thus when we arrive on the planet our greeter is an example of that, a highly evolved human born by the Space Jockeys to relate information to us, our history, our purpose etc. Maybe he is Prometheus...
