I honestly can't believe people are crazy enough to PAY to see a trailer. I can't wait for it to come out though.

Guys, when the trailer is released, don't take the trailers rating as the actual rating for the film. Ratings for films and trailers are not always the same, for example, the trailer for Monster was a 15 but the film itself was an 18.
Replyalteredstate.Prometheus ForumNew Trailer in Feb?Jan 25, 2012
yes that's true but if its being pitched to a audience sitting in for a pg film then i imagine that's an audience they want to attract.
Its not always the case though.
ReplyHukerloverPrometheus ForumNew Trailer in Feb?Jan 25, 2012
some how i just cant see Ridley allowing that as he has had many times stated he would only do another Alien if the script was good and it was adult themed ie R rating
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumNew Trailer in Feb?Jan 25, 2012
i dont think Ridley ever said that he would only do another alien if the script was adult themed ....
ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumNew Trailer in Feb?Jan 25, 2012
The fact is we do not know what is going on and will know more when the time approaches for film release....
No need to freak out over something like rating...
ReplyGalaxy DavePrometheus ForumNew Trailer in Feb?Jan 25, 2012
R rating with all the gore in 1979 was hard core back then. Today with hardened youths, thanks in part to the internet and sex/violence being what most consume, I'll bet from the look of the trailer, Prometheus will have some real serious hardcore scenes and get away with a G rating! This is 2012- Sodom and Gomorrah people! Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney gets involved on this evil rumpus-ride action!
Either way, the previews are seriously disturbing, depicts serious hardship and violence. I think Prometheus could very well be an R rating.
Awww HELL YEAHHHH!
ReplyCinefanPrometheus ForumNew Trailer in Feb?Jan 25, 2012
I'm betting it will get an R rating. Scott's films don't shy away from an R when the subject matter warrant's it. A movie gets an R these days even if you say the F word more than once. I'm not too worried about it, besides I'm just thrilled that Scott's back in charge of this thing. Getting back on topic though I hope the new trailer whenever it comes out doesn't give away too much despite the fact I can't get enough news about it. I think less is more in this case. I love the current trailer. It compares a lot to the original trailer for Alien.

No...No..of course not...I would think that this trip is the longest of it's kind, for the Prometheus and the crew. Could this be the first deep space launch for Humans
? I would think so and 10 months could with use of your body can be pretty crushing. And well, at 10 months, it is right on the door step or Earth...
ReplyaintnozenoPrometheus Forum10 month travel from Zeta R to EarthJan 25, 2012
Heck, maybe 30+ years later they traveled 5 times faster....
I can't remember what's real and what's speculation. Have any of the real plot synopsis' verified a five year trip? 10 months is still a heck of a long time to spend at 0g, so training to get back used to normal gravity would still be a requirement...
ReplyMr.JPrometheus Forum10 month travel from Zeta R to EarthJan 25, 2012
Or course, there are 3 planets present...the one from Alien and two more that are unknown...alot of back story there.
ReplyRickPrometheus Forum10 month travel from Zeta R to EarthJan 25, 2012
Hey Guys,
I think the Jockey Ships from each of the movies are different, thus not the same ship. So I'd be willing to wager that they are 2 completeley different planets, and could very well possibly be in opposite directions from where earth is. Does anyone think that the travel time could include multiple trips from A] Earth to B] Unknown Planet to C] Jockey Planet, since you mentioned 3 planets there.
Regarding the travel time, the Nostromo was essentially a barge, lots of tow power but no speed. The Prometheus I am sure would have atleast top of the line speed that would make it a heck of a lot faster or at a bare minimum comparable in speed to that of an old tug.
Rick
ReplyStarbeastPrometheus Forum10 month travel from Zeta R to EarthJan 25, 2012
If we have mastered FTL then I'll be damned if we haven't also nailed artificial gravity. In fact, many of the ship scenes indicate artificial gravity, assuming the ship ain't landed on solid ground. IMO, the 10 month journey time in Alien and alleged 5 years journey time in Prometheus doesn't necessarily indicated different destinations. Afterall, in the space of another 30 years, FTL could have been improved such that journey times have been reduced to 1/6th of what they were.
ReplyRickPrometheus Forum10 month travel from Zeta R to EarthJan 25, 2012
SB,
I can't agree, for lack of a better comparison items, you need to compare a Tugboat of today against a Coast Guard Cutter from 30 years ago. The Cutter would just walk past the Tub everyday of the week. Then add on that I am sure the Nostromo was no where near being new. I don't have the data but I am sure it was already rather old in Alien.
Regards,
Rick

Speed or not, gravity or not, there are many reasons to have the crew in stasis for a trip even 6 months long. Not that this has anything to do with the original post...
Aside from the stockpiles of food and water to sustain them, the additional oxygen required to support active people, and the amount of waste produced- there's the most dangerous part: Most people would literally go insane if stuck in a box for 10 months. Even if you're locked in a building on earth, a damn big one with plenty to do, it would be easy for anyone to loose a grasp on reality. We're just not meant to be caged like that. Even prisoners get to go outside and see the sun...

ReplyGuestAlien Movies ForumMy ALIEN 3 'fan-edit' proposal...with a TWIST!Jan 25, 2012
Ha ha, I see you're already contemplating 're-cuts' of my 're-cuts' perhaps!
Well, as it seems that you're actually now offering to undertake these 2 edits for me sometime Snorkelbottom, I'm certainly willing to give it a go, if you are. :)
As long as I can end up getting my exact, specific version of the solution I've come up with, I'd certainly have no problem with you doing an altered version of your own eventually, if you wish!
And as far as your other points, there's only so much that can be done with the existing footage, but let's just see how things turn out...
So just a last couple of things for now -
Have you ever actually 'fan-edited' a movie BLU-RAY or DVD before?
Can you confirm that you definately want to proceed with all this, or not? (We can work out the details of when and how, at another time, if you do)
And if you do, can you confirm if it's possible to REVERSE a single shot if need be? - The soundtrack would be kept as it is, but the footage would be reversed for this shot, ideally. It can still work okay, if not.
Thanks for your continued interest.

Ha ha, I like how you're already contemplating doing 're-cuts' of my proposed 're-cuts'! That's the spirit.
Well, as it seems that you're offering to undertake this on my behalf Snorks, then I'm certainly willing to give it a go, if you are. :)
As long as I can get my own *exact* cut done of the proposed solution I've got in mind, then I certainly won't mind in any way if you feel the urge to attempt a 'different take' of it eventually, nor will I be offended in any way, lol.
LOT MORE TO COME. (BUT MY FIRST ATTEMPT DIDN'T GO THROUGH YET AGAIN, SO HAVING TO RE-TYPE THIS DAMN THING ALL OVER AGAIN! JUST DOING IT MY TRIED AND TESTED 'BIT AT A TIME' WAY NOW, SO BEAR WITH ME UNTIL IT'S DONE, THANKS)

Ha Ha, I like how you're already contemplating having to do a 'recut' of my proposed 'recuts'!
Well, since it seems as if you're offering to undertake these 2 edits on my behalf now Snorks, then I'm certainly willing to give it a go with you, if you are. :)
As long as I can end up getting my own *exact* versions cut of my proposed solution, then I certainly won't be offended in any way if you feel the urge to attempt a 'different take' of them afterwards, lol.
And as far as the other points in your last post are concerned, well there's only so much I can do to achieve the new outcome with the footage available, but let's see how things turn out...
My solution is simple at the end of the day, and doesn't involve any radical chopping up of the footage of these 2 sequels whatsoever, but will definately give the right impression I'd like to see. It won't be to everyone's taste, but then no-one needs to bother with it if that's the case, as they'll still have the 'official' versions.
So if I can ask you a couple of things at this point -
Have you ever actually cut a 'fan-edit' of an existing BLU-RAY or DVD movie before?
Are you definately wanting to go ahead with this with me sometime when it's convenient? (the ins-and-outs and how-and-when can be sorted out through PM's in future, if so)
If you are, can you let me know if you're able to REVERSE a single shot so that it goes backwards? - The soundtrack would remain the same, but ideally the shot would move in reverse. It can still work fine if not, however. Just curious.
Thanks for your continued interest.

By the way, when I said that Prometheus should show new races I am not referring obviously to the predators. I am referring to the apparent expansionist approach which I assume you have this movie, I therefore hope that part of this approach is to show things new and fresh, and why not, create a new canon. I know that many will not agree with my comment but it is only my subjective opinion. In the end who has the last word is Sir Ridley Scott.
my greetings
Reply20thcenturybuickAlien Movies Forumare the jockeys and the xenomorphs the only aliens in the alien universeJan 25, 2012
i thought the predators were a bit silly ...the dreadlocks the barefoot lizard toes...that flopped around because they were rubber.....anyways i didnt mean other species of xenomorphs but other species of alien life forms..besides the space jockey and the xenomorph..in aliens at the beginning the weyland yutani woman says that ripley descrbed somthing that has never been seen in over 400 surveyed worlds
so was she referring to THEE alien or just an alien in general. like have they encountered other alien speces before or not at all. my point is they dont really believe ripleys story..is that because the idea of first contact with an alien is so hard to believe
