I have a simpler and unsexy theory. Maybe some of you have heard of the "most famous unfilmed scene" of "Alien". It´s in the script and also was graphically depicted in a "Ridleygram": the "Nostromo" would have an "observation dome", where Dallas and Ripley were meant to protagonize a "love scene": You can see that the position of Dallas is totally similar to the position of the SJ in the derelict. If the scene was ever filmed, the parallel would be almost impossible to pass unremarked. Personally, I think the idea of an observation dome with a telescope and a chair is completely out of place in a scenario of advanced technology, but it´s insertion in the movie was tailored to convey to the audience the feeling that although alien, the SJ technology was functionally similar to earthiling´s .

StarbeastPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?
First and foremost, the audience needs to empathise with characters in order to connect with the film. We will not empathise with androids. Secondly, for diplomatic reasons, you must send a human team to uncover human history. You don't send a robot to your own reunion with long-lost daddy. Thirdly, and slightly more speculatively, humans may be much cheaper and plentiful than state-of-the-art android technology.

Well, with the lovely child-bearing hips, I assumed it was either Noomi or Charlize. My first choice being Noomi. David?? What? Open your eyes, it's a laydee.

Danrald, you've got a unique perspective on all things but sometimes I really do wonder if your just trolling or really dense lol (no offense)... Through deduction I think we can assume its Noomi in the poster, with her being the main character whom we know wears one of them spacesuits, is present in the ampule room and obviously the figure is female and basically its a different angle of this image... I think it's Meredith/Charlize in the poster because of her light blonde hair. We know Noomi has red/brown hair in this movie and I don't think lighting could make her hair look very light in poster. Also, I prefer this new version of the poster than the older one. This looks more creepy for me.

LOL... pretty funny.. I prefer it if you call me a pixy.. the dense version of the troll. Well I put "David" in quotes, because I am not sure it is him.We can see the hips, which does look female, or in general, the back side. Anyway, it's the hair that really states "David". So, doing an analysis on the person in the poster, will tell us something. If its Shaw, we can then say, ok, makes sense. But if we say David.. we then.. we have a whole new ball game.. right? BTW, the image is missing the dead space jockey that it once had...

I'm thinking it's Imora now... in the photo with Shaw, Halloway, and Imora looking at the head and the helmet, Imora's hair is much more simular to the new poster.. Anway, I analyzed the shap.. and nothing really that I can make out.

The Thing from The Thing (80's version) was intelligent and scary. No evidence that scariness is inversely correlated to intelligence. Even the original alien exhibited intelligence.

I'm inclined to agree with Xenomorph 54's response to this discussion-after months of endless and somewhat tripe manifestations of speculation that leads almost nowhere but is fun to look at nevertheless! We know that The Alien (xenomorphs, starbeast) does NOT appear in Prometheus. Instead, Ridley Scott is showing us another part of the Universe we know where no one can hear you scream. This time, he's telling an original tale about explorers and scientists exploring an extraterrestrial civilization after following a series of clues detailing the origins of mankind on Earth. Only they're discovery leads them to a planet where the same beings can eliminate life at their will with whatever bio-weapon they have. So far we have humanoid stone heads, jelly-like acid melting people's space suits, and some mutant-like effect on the crew of the ship: http://www.cinemablend.com/images/news/28496/The_Prometheus_Trailer_Detail_5_Things_Learned_1324588529.jpg And then Giger's reportedly redesigning his original beast from the Necromonicon and the murals for the Space Jockey planet. And then the "Engineer" term is ambiguous-either the Space Jockeys we know from Scott's original 1979 film-or something different....

GuestPrometheus ForumAlien Film Scores
I've been listening to the Goldsmith score for Alien, and I have noticed that the score is not always bleak or threatening in mood. In the Alien score there are themes of adventure and enthusiasm with a positive outlook for elements of the story. There are sinister and scary moments that fill most of the screentime, but the entire score represents a greater spectrum of feeling that seems to influence the early moments of the film before the crew of the Nostromo are killed. I like this most about the film score of Alien, and find it the best of the series, second to Alien 3's marvelous music score. What impresses me about what has been said regarding the mood of Prometheus, is not just that bad things will happen, but adventurers in space are going out further and unlocking knowledge previously unattainable in human evolution. It will be dangerous and scary, but the monsters or aliens are more than just viscous killing machines. We would naturally fear the unknown and those creatures so bizarre to us that we fail to see things from an objective point of view. I mean to say that whatever is discovered or encountered is simply a new culture and civilization that isn't evil as they might define it. The Prometheus crew just can't get past bringing thier own fears and preconceptions of evil from a purely human standard. Wow, I've really side-tracked! Simply put, I just hope the soundtrack is smart enough to convey all that like Jerry Goldsmith's score did.

Jerry Goldsmith said it himself, that it was easy to create something strange and mysterious in his film score. It was a greater challenge and rewarding to imbue the film with other  moods he saw in the story for his complete score. What impresses me about what has been said regarding the mood of Prometheus, that it is not just bad things will happen. very interesting video....i have recently watched the video about the history of our creation and the current influence on mankind of both Annunaki and Inuaki. I think everybody knows that Annunaki are the Gods who created us, who the SJs may appear to be...But there also are Inuaki - the reptiloid race. that still influences on us with the help of Illuminati...So the Annunaki created us using 3 kinds of DNA - Annunaki, Inuaki and primitive humans...Can Inuaki be those who are - something even more dangerous...Many questions, many answers, and even more questions...

I believe that humans were created in the SJ's image (much like it's said we are created in God's image), but I think that the Xeno-morphs were also created by the SJ as a kind of opposite to humanity. Humans have intelligence, emotion, conscience etc to survive but Xeno's have survival instincts, lack of morality (which I'd say is a positive to survive as a species) and can reproduce in god knows how many ways to increase their numbers. The SJ will ultimately suffer at the hands of both in my opinion. . .

I still take on board the theories presented in Stargate - The motion picture. Pyramids as docking stations, slaves on other worlds, the Gods arriving in the form of man (Pharaoh) and status check a distant planet.... Kinda funny how technology accelerated 10 fold since Roswell incident and the 50's and 60's UFO sightings.

Interesting video, in fact believe that Sumerian mythology would be a good inspiration for Prometheus. I remember that the leaked trailer had an image of a female womb to give birth to some creature class. The Giants or nefilins are the sons of gods with human women, then we can assume that a creature with the DNA of the gods was impregnated in the womb of a woman in Prometheus, the more likely it is that in the case of Elizabeth Shaw. At the same time we can see a possible similarity between the God Enki and the Titán Prometheus. Another possible idea is that Prometheus could play the role of the Snake in the Paradise of Edén helping (tempting) to humanity with the forbidden fruit (fire from the gods). In this way disobeys God and being punished for it. I just hope that the Engineers are not owls...lol...

I'm a big fan of Lovecraft, but also trust in Ridley and the work he is doing, no doubt his story shine with their own light. It is a fact that we will not see the xenomorph and the first classical movie in the same way. By the way thanks for commenting... and excellent page. Best regards

Shambhala, great analysis of the link between Prom and AtMoM. Alien has often been labelled as "Lovecraftian", something which which was abandoned for the sequels (although Aliens had a pretty cool "Beowulf"-inspired thing going on, with the Queen standing in for Grendel's mother). I've been hoping Prom will be appropriately Lovecraftian, so let's see if it happens! BTW, that pic of the diver coming face-to-face with Cthulhu is insane! Where'd you happen to find it? Here's my favorite depiction of Big C who could fit into the Alien universe pretty easily, IMO (right click/view image, then left click to enbiggen): Also, cool avatar. ;)

Robotpo; Yes, the Queen is the mother of the monster, as in the epic poem of Beowulf. Curiously Ripley played that role in Alien Resurrection. The face to face between the diver and Cthulhu I found it looking for wallpapers but here is a link to photobucket: Your text to link here... Your image of Cthulhu this very good, It has the aesthetic to the Alien Universe. danrald, certainly I found interesting show the parallel between these two great works of horror science fiction, and thank you for your comment.
