Yes, I've noticed this.. And one more point, it's not really the hieroglyphics, its the structure of the room. All of the rooms seem to be the same.
ReplyCervantesPrometheus ForumSpaceJockey hieroglyphsJan 5, 2012
Thanks for pointing out those 'hieroglyphs' in that 'close-up' of a section from the surrounding base of the 'Spacejockey', spacejock. I hadn't noticed those ones till you zoomed into that part of it. I wonder if we'll get to know what the ones on the giant 'face' say?
And I just recently came across that 'fan-edited' ALIEN trailer on darkhorizons.com
It's a neat twist on the PROMETHEUS one.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumSpaceJockey hieroglyphsJan 5, 2012
I'm not too sure about the hieroglyphs in the Space Jockey's pilot room, but there are definitely some egyptian style hieroglyphs on the wall in the temple the crew explore...

I updated the platform image to show the details.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumSpaceJockey hieroglyphsJan 5, 2012
I have seen them now, good find. IMO that infers that the Space Jockeys built the Big Head not us lowly humans (as some previously theorised).
ReplyNineteenHundredPrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
I am willing to bet that the man/engineer guy gets in the chair and an exoskeleton forms around him.
ReplyJeystonePrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
@nineteenhundred..probably what happens but that idea sucks..the jockeys were intended to be an elephant like race, now it was just a suit? it annoys me
look at the dead space jockey design..it is not built like a suit...it has external earsockets and other details that would be completely irrelevant, redundant and impractical on a suit design...if the race is humanoid, why an elephant like suit? just keep it in proportion...I fear for this movie
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
@ nineteenhundred - Explain then what they are scanning, earlier on in the trailer.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
Taking everything into account...nothing really adds up....we are being mislead to a degree....spin doctors!
Replydrogie21Prometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
Even though we are assuming a lot of stuff in the film about the Jockeys, I can't see the humanoid on the right hand side actually fitting into the seat. He still looks a bit too small. It's been said in other disscussions - RIDLEY SCOTT is not going to give all his secrets away in a trailer. It's about the Space Jockey and I feel the theories of the Jockeys won't be ruined (I HOPE :/ )
ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
Well, if you find something "Alien" being Extraterrestrial...I think scanning it would be part of the checklist....I believe it is a helmet as well. If I were one of the humans and found this, I would most certainly scan it and being that it is biomechanical, it might be alive to a degree when touched...just a theory but will have to wait a long 6 months. Does anyone have a time machine here? or a wormhole to break into Fox editing rooms? That would help, lol...
Replydrogie21Prometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
@Zues - Are you talking about the curved part in the middle. Remember the seat hasn't fully come up in that clip so that bit which am only guessing your taling about is actually the panel or screen where the head of the Jockey was looking into. It was in front of him. Not sure if thats the bit your on about though.
Replydrogie21Prometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
@Cain1977 I know its a torture analysing everything lol. And you know when it comes out it will be great to see who came close to ideas about the film.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
@ Cain - I have seen a lot of people claim that the "head" on the scanning table is a helmet, citing that it would be biomechanical. Yes, I believe that this is in fact a skull, but in all honesty I have a problem with this term biomechanical being thrown around to support ones arguements, especially in this case because this "head" doesn't, in any way look biomechanical, even when using the Xenomorph and Space Jockey pilot as references.
ReplyManndroidPrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
It might be interesting to think of the Space Jockey as neither a suit nor an alien, but perhaps a biosynthetic construct created to pilot the ship. It wouldn't be far fetched; Scott utilized biological robots in Blade Runner - replicants.
Just food for thought and bait for the imagination, I choose not to get attached to a theory prior to seeing a film.
ReplyTa2punkPrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
@manndroid I personally thing that is way too far fetched. Take the image for what it is, he is an extra terrestrial not some biosynthetic construct. Sorry i just cant get behind that, theres a difference between theorizing and taking every frame from the trailer and ignoring whats actually being shown and just going off the deep end.
ReplyLexsidious Prometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
I have to agree with Jeystone. The idea of the suits kinda scares me. OK I get they created humans, however the whole interesting thing about our first impression about the Space Jockeys were that how none human they were. I'm mean the sheer size of them....the trunk. I know I should have faith in Ridley .....just my concerns.
ReplyManndroidPrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
Whoa whoa, I never said that's what I thought, it was just food for thought. debating what it actually is is moot because the movie is going to answer the question, anyway.
ReplyZuesPrometheus ForumHelmetJan 5, 2012
Here is the shot I was talking about.
In your browser zoom to 400% to the back of the pilot's chair and clearly it's a helmet opening in the middle that would wrap around the occupants head.
Remember Scott has said that the SJ in Alien is in a suit.
Then look at the blue guy and see that his head is the perfect fit for this helmet.
If the SJs are our Gods then they would have to look like us otherwise they are not our God just creators, cause Gods make their children in their our image.
I reckon the blue guy is a space jockey and it's nothing more complicated.

Yeah I can see that. I never knew the one in the original was in a suit I never read or saw that article
ReplyNineteenHundredPrometheus ForumSnorkelbottoms Trailer BreakdownJan 5, 2012
Snorkel, you are over-analysing each shot so much that I bet you will be disappointed to find these TINY little details mean nothing in the movie. I guarantee that the final film will be MUCH simpler than all this speculation would imply. Why would anyone assume that little flashes of lightning in the background have meaning? What if it's just some random lightning? Also, I don't think the red lasers are a puzzle, clearly they are from those scanning orbs that are floating around the ceiling, obviously released by one of the men below.
I have been anticipating many huge movies like this before and I can tell you that where you find meaning in a trailer... it may mean nothing in the movie. Consider for a moment that the scene where Noomi is getting blasted back by the storm is just an insignificant 30 second scene, rather than a full blown action set-piece.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumSnorkelbottoms Trailer BreakdownJan 5, 2012
I am not over analysing anything.
Many of the members of this forums have posted topics about various elements from the trailer and dsicussed them in much, much greater depth than I have here. You seem to be a relatively new member so I will not take offence, but I will point out that most of the time on these forums most members over analyse everything (no offence guys).
For example, the lightning flashes are just that. I included this as clarification for those that commented on Biomechanics thread in which he actually pondered what they were.
In regards to the red lasers, there is no "clearly" about it, as we don't know 100% that this is human tech (for we don't actually see them being released).

i agree with almost all points ...my only reserve is about the natural origins of the dust storm that hit rapace ...to me is not ..is an explosion of some kind BUT we will see of course .
we have to wait a month and half for a superbowl trailer i think .. ( and i think is the trailer that was leaked )
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumSnorkelbottoms Trailer BreakdownJan 5, 2012
I just posted the dust storm idea as an extra possibility, but as you say we will see.
As for the leaked trailer being the Superbowl trailer, I don't know. There is barely any difference between the leaked and released trailers. IMO trailers usually have a different edge to them, a different nuance/atmosphere, but again we will see.

I would guess it's just scenery for the planet rather than anything significant.
ReplyKrak FoxPrometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 5, 2012
It's too obviously out of place in the 'valley' they're in to be just a feature - plus it being framed dead centre implies they're heading straight for it. I know the walls aren't made of straight lines and are 'curvy' - but so are a lot of the structures made by the engineer types.
ReplyKrak FoxPrometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 5, 2012
Here's an edited for contrast version which helps show what i mean a little....

It's mainly the 90 degree corner wall section, just to the left of centre of frame (that has a highlight on), that really suggest an opening in a huge wall that is circling the central hill/structure....
...maybe... ;)
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 5, 2012
Yes we did already talk about that ..it looks like a sort of temple with a walls curtain ...also its strange but you see it better in the leaked trailer
there is also a Giger draw that resemble that temple "head" alot

What's more interesting to me is counting the expedition members you are seeing. There are two passengers on the tracked vehicle on the left. If there are two on the other atv on the right that makes it four. Assuming that there are at least two in the armored personel carrier on the far left that brings the total to six. We've only seen the three outside on their return trip. If something were chasing them the two ATV's would be in the lead with the APC providing cover in the back. Is that accounting for everyone?
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 5, 2012
There are two people per ATV and 5-6 people per RT (armoured personnel carrier).
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 5, 2012
yes snorky is right ... there is an inside shoot of an APC and there are 4 people there ( shaw included ) ..plus someone must drive ... We dont know if the other APC go with them or not ...we see the cockipt closing but its facing the wrong direction ...can be just an automatic movement when the hangar door get open ( or maybe it really get ready to leave )
since they return only with the 2 ATV and 1 APC we can agree that the other OR never leavead the hangar OR it remained there with some crew ( red scanning laser crew ? )
so or they leave in 9-10 people OR in 14-15 ( more or less lol )
the total cast is of 15-16 prople and add that probably Vickers and JAnek remain on board
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 5, 2012
Hey Guys don't forget there are supposed to be Mercenaries on this expedition so there are probably several more people we don't see in the trailer but will be in the movie.
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 5, 2012
I'm betting the ampule room is at the hill where they are heading to because the trailer shows what looks like a road back to the ship. Could be them hauling ass back because there's a serious issue at hand
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 5, 2012
Here I grabbed a screenie of them returning to the ship. All I can assume with limited footage is the APC is clearly ahead of the ATV's hauling ass back to the Prometheus. My guess would be they hit the ampule room and someone got gassed inside the helmet.
