they say the fincher movie ...btw we know that were released 2 versions ..one for the net of about 1 minute and half ( the one we saw ) and one for the theatres of 2 minutes

there was no word about that ..the swedish guy ( the one that have spread the news along latinoreview and are considered two sure sources ) didnt talk about eventual differecies between the leaked version and the finished one

So hopefully this week for a proper look at the images barely visible on the 'leaked' clip then? Finally! I see that a lot of negative comments on alienprequelnews.com are now being aimed at the probable 'INTELLIGENT DESIGN'-style storyline, as well as the fact that the 'Spacejockey' in the original movie is likely to be a fossilized 'spacesuit' rather than a fossilized alien of some sort... Personally, I don't mind the idea of a 'suit' for it's body, but I gotta say that I was hoping the 'skull with the 'trunk-like nose' was the remains of some form of alien-type skeleton at least...rather than a fossilized 'spacehelmet'. If it turns out that the 'skull seen in A L I E N is in fact a 'helmet' housing some sort of 'humanoid' eventually rather than an otherworldly type of alien, then I'll be kinda disappointed too... Can't wait to see if my long-held notions of what the Spacejockey was, pan out or not!

screw the negativity...they don't know Jack ! The film is gonna Rock ! I think most of those people need to "chillax" and wait for the film just let it happen instead of beating it over the head for every moment of every day. But I cannot say that I don't understand it, it's easy to obsess over all of this. I just can't wait to own the DVD already of this thing !!!

well whatever we see in alien has a very clear mouth with teeth and a nose ( http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20091221205159/headhuntersholosuite/images/3/36/Space_Jockey_004.jpg ) so if it is a space helmet in the new one i don't think that was the original intentional design of the original, i always thought that they looked like that and the hose think was just an oxygen tube kind of like what you see jet pilots wear but only covering the nose.

i hope that the movie is darker then some of the images released because it does not give me that alien vibe, but i did here that because of 3D filming the sets had to be light and that they would digitally edit the darkness in after filming, so i hope that the "darkness" is just not in there yest because it looks to light. http://www.ifc.com/news/assets_c/112311_prometheus.jpg in fact it kind of reminds me of star trek the next generation with the way its lit

everyone realizes that that's the derelict ship crashing at the end of the trailer right? i hope so because i have not seen anybody talk about it

what I think we are going to see here is not a big fat bad version of Alien It'll be more like a Bigger Badder and viscous version of "War Of The Worlds...In Reverse, This time it'll be Man that is doing the invading...and this time the Monsters are going to be bigger and badder and more viscous and not like it at all and this is what I think everyone is missing, that this film IS going to be very very Dark, very very sinister and raise puzzling questions about our role and responsibilities in space and as perceived G-ds, we are going to see who/what Engineered the Xenomorph's, there will be a version of the Xenomorph but not the one everyone is used to seeing, and it's going to be bigger and badder and more viscous as well. There are going to be some images in this thing that standing alone will draw comparisons to films like 2001; A Space Odyssey and The Original Planet Of The Apes. People are going to be troubled by it, think about it, talk about and wonder about it for years after...it is going to spawn at least one more film in the franchise... and it is going to be Ridley Scott's & H R Giger's "Tour De Force" and most of us are going to be utterly astonished at how beautiful a film it is going to be!

that's good optimism Spartacus, but i try to look at movies neutrally, that way if its bad you are not to disappointed and if its good you can be like "wow that was slightly better then i was expecting!" i am very exited for the movie and i hope its good but no matter what anybody says, its just a movie to me until i see it for myself. (pst, i actually think its going to be REALLY good, that's just my brain talking up there don't listen to it lol)

I can't make anything out clearly in that trailer to say anything for certain and i'm suprised anyone else can, just like the jockey coming up thru the floor. I'm holding judgement until i see the proper trailer. I can speculate about things, but i never like to second guess a film. I let slip with x men first class and was gutted.. Spartacus, careful with your "will be's".. ;) don't psyche yourself out. wait and see and enjoy the film for what it will be.

just an interesting thought, what if Prometheus is not a prequel at all and its sequel will be a remake of alien cutting all plot lines to the original film. kind of like the new planet of the apps, a reboot if you will.

Say invaderzim42, those sure are high definition photos you put up here, thank you. If you have high-def photos of scenes from the trailer, that would be very helpful, I think.

and also Tec-B at first i could not see anything in the trailer as well but after repeated viewings i have made out a lot of things, the cargo bay opening up, the vehicles moving out, the ship moving to the planet, the girl falling to her knees mutating, the space jockey, and after it says PROMETHEUS it shows a girl screaming and the derelict crashing onto the planet vertically and then the characters running from it as it falls down into that position it was in when they found it in the first one, at first i did not believe myself but yeah, that's 100% the derelict :)

i also saw waterfalls, a guy in a space helmet shooting a hand gun, a ship blowing up, and other stuff. if you go to the trailer i first posted and go to the 1:06 mark, you can see one of the characters looking at the derelict standing and then in the next shot it starts to fall.

well yeah the obvious things i saw, but things like the jockey emerging and the ship crashing.. nope.. i mean i can see the ship, but whether it's crashing or not i'm not sure, as for the emerging jockey, nope, not even vaguely (this is what i can see though, some will have better eyes than me). I see the girl dropping to her knees, but not sure about the mutating thing. I see the group f people firing pistols (or the future space equivalent).

really??? i thought that the things you are seeing are the harder to see things and the ship and the jockey were the really easy to spot "oh my god!" things in the trailer.

For my money, the slowed down trailer posted on 12/3 by Biomechanic is very good. And it's sound seems spookier to me. One question that just occurred to me - if that's the derelict crashing at the end and the humans are running away, how did they happen to be right where it was going to crash?

thats is a very good question and i would say "suspension of disbelief" or "magic" but this is Scott we are talking about so idk.

maybe the saw the ship and determined where it was going to land or something like that. well the movie is about Terraforming or something like that right? what if the science team went there to start setting stuff up to do that and the space jockeys (who from romers are life engineers that start life) were observing our evolutionary progress when shit broke out on the ship and it crashed. i might be over thinking it there but i like that idea.

I have a feeling the mercenaries working on their own got desperate and sabotaged the craft to prevent them leaving with something important. The unsuspecting science team working around it watch it ascending not knowing and then it explodes and crashes on them like the Hindenberg.

or maybe are those famous last 8 minutes ...someone sacrificed himself and destroy the alien ship that was going to destroy earth ... two survivors try to avoid the crash ...and we are on lv 426 ... :p

That could be possible Frantz although personally I don't like the idea of a hero. I want people to die from greed or hubris. All except Elizabeth that is and I think she is going to be the downfall of the Nostromo because of her nativity and faith.

Story wise they should all die in the end but knowing movie studios these days they will probably have the main character live in the end like in "the thing"

Alright this movie is going to be something good. IT'S RIDLEY SCOTT!!!!! The trailer is amazing! If the Space Jockey is a suit that would be pretty cool! If it is the way we know the Space Jockey that we know in the Dark Horse comics EVEN COOLER!! THE ONLY WAY THIS MOVIE CAN FAIL IS IF WE GET DANCES WITH WOLVES IN SPACE! By the way was it me or did I see a guy get acid splashed in his face in the trailer? I am gonna have to agree with Spartacus the negativity should just ease up a little about this.

What negativity? We have not said one bad thing about it :(

That's my whole point, it cannot miss. If we cannot have faith in these 2 guys that are like heroes to all of US... One that created and directed Alien and the other that designed the art work used for it and created the book that contained the painting which inspired all of this to begin with, than who the hell are we gonna have faith in? I hope it is completely different from what we all, even me expect and we all are stunned, but no matter what, I could not expect anything than but a TOP NOTCH solid 2 hours of complete Joy...just knowing I am getting "them 2 more hours" of this from them. I do not care, and it's not like we're gonna see another "Jar-Jar-Binks", come on people, this is SCOTT and GIGER !!! They are the real gods here !!! And I believe 100% in both of them !!! This is a GIFT !!!

What I love about Ridley with this movie is he is quoted saying If Alien was a souped-up B-Movie, then Prometheus is a biblical epic. “Alien felt epic,” says Scott “, but this one is Epic.” I love this enthusiasm that Ridley has about this movie and to top it all off....Its a Sci Fi movie he is talking about!

No one said YOU were being that way but if you read the thread back to yourself you will see that it seems headed in that direction, with tons of speculation about what might work and might not work, what I am learning to do is just let it happen...I believe in these 2 guys, not sure about how everyone else feels but there really is no reason at all to worry about any of this...these are 2 Master Painter Story Tellers at the Top of their crafts!!! One paints on canvas and with exotic materials and the other with a camera and projection screens. Plus, the more we see of this film the more we destroy the intended effect for all of us, which is to see it the way Scott and Giger intend for us to!!! At the same time if we speculate and worry about the suits and how they might or might not do stuff or restrict the creative process it does not really accomplish much because in the end we are going to get what we get, and if anything got cut out it'll show up on the dvd's after. I am positive you would all just love for this film to have it's maximum possible effect on you in the theater whether that be good or bad, but you would also want it to be natural and truthful and not compromised by Knowing anything of it's content beforehand !!!

"Alien" really was just an extremely well-crafted haunted-house story......in space. The story doesn't really have all that much weight, and relied on shock-value imagery to stick with the audience, after they walked out of the theater. Perhaps this movie will be significantly more thought provoking............. but Kubrick understood that when it comes to an impossibly advanced alien intelligence, less is almost certainly, [i]more[/i]. Getting up-close and personal with a putative "God" can only diminish it's implicit power, because our imaginations are much more fertile than any concrete realization on film will ever be.

I think Scott himself said some of that exact same thing "artyoh".
