Alright this movie is going to be something good. IT'S RIDLEY SCOTT!!!!! The trailer is amazing! If the Space Jockey is a suit that would be pretty cool! If it is the way we know the Space Jockey that we know in the Dark Horse comics EVEN COOLER!! THE ONLY WAY THIS MOVIE CAN FAIL IS IF WE GET DANCES WITH WOLVES IN SPACE! By the way was it me or did I see a guy get acid splashed in his face in the trailer? I am gonna have to agree with Spartacus the negativity should just ease up a little about this.
ReplyNot_my_intentionPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
What negativity? We have not said one bad thing about it :(
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
That's my whole point, it cannot miss.
If we cannot have faith in these 2 guys that are like heroes to all of US...
One that created and directed Alien and the other that designed the art work used for it and created the book that contained the painting which inspired all of this to begin with, than who the hell are we gonna have faith in?
I hope it is completely different from what we all, even me expect and we all are stunned, but no matter what, I could not expect anything than but a TOP NOTCH solid 2 hours of complete Joy...just knowing I am getting "them 2 more hours" of this from them.
I do not care, and it's not like we're gonna see another "Jar-Jar-Binks", come on people, this is SCOTT and GIGER !!!
They are the real gods here !!!
And I believe 100% in both of them !!!
This is a GIFT !!!
ReplyNot_my_intentionPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
Once again, what are you talking about? There has been no negativity said about the movie this entire time, did I miss something?
ReplyPredatordreadsPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
What I love about Ridley with this movie is he is quoted saying If Alien was a souped-up B-Movie, then Prometheus is a biblical epic. “Alien felt epic,” says Scott “, but this one is Epic.” I love this enthusiasm that Ridley has about this movie and to top it all off....Its a Sci Fi movie he is talking about!
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
No one said YOU were being that way but if you read the thread back to yourself you will see that it seems headed in that direction, with tons of speculation about what might work and might not work, what I am learning to do is just let it happen...I believe in these 2 guys, not sure about how everyone else feels but there really is no reason at all to worry about any of this...these are 2 Master Painter Story Tellers at the Top of their crafts!!! One paints on canvas and with exotic materials and the other with a camera and projection screens.
Plus, the more we see of this film the more we destroy the intended effect for all of us, which is to see it the way Scott and Giger intend for us to!!!
At the same time if we speculate and worry about the suits and how they might or might not do stuff or restrict the creative process it does not really accomplish much because in the end we are going to get what we get, and if anything got cut out it'll show up on the dvd's after.
I am positive you would all just love for this film to have it's maximum possible effect on you in the theater whether that be good or bad, but you would also want it to be natural and truthful and not compromised by Knowing anything of it's content beforehand !!!
ReplyartyohPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
"Alien" really was just an extremely well-crafted haunted-house story......in space. The story doesn't really have all that much weight, and relied on shock-value imagery to stick with the audience, after they walked out of the theater. Perhaps this movie will be significantly more thought provoking............. but Kubrick understood that when it comes to an impossibly advanced alien intelligence, less is almost certainly, more. Getting up-close and personal with a putative "God" can only diminish it's implicit power, because our imaginations are much more fertile than any concrete realization on film will ever be.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
I think Scott himself said some of that exact same thing "artyoh".
ReplyNot_my_intentionPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
Look Spartacus, the entire point of forums like this is to discuss and examine what we know. If you think that this is a bad thing then fine that's your opinion, but if that is the case then why are you reading? If you don't like people speculating what we know then just do something else Prometheus related. Talking about what the function of the hose on the space jockeys face is is not going to take you out of the film or make you experience it any less, its just something for us geeks to talk about. I am not trying to be mean or anything but come on, no one is saying anything negaitive about the movie here, negative talk would look more like this-"this movie is going to suck really bad"-what we are saying is not that so.......chilax

ReplyspacejockPrometheus ForumPrometheus trailer Dec 18, 2011
No Xenos definitely. That name was invented by Cameron anyway. We will see the fresh spin these two, quote Spartacus, "master painters" will bring to this universe. Ridley is NOT INTERESTED IN good old "XENOS" anymore, he was hinting to that pretty clearly. And it is good this way. They are creating something original now, which will also be ripped off and sucked dry later on by much less talented filmmakers.

@Alien
Thankz for the kudos on the puzzle.
I still dig that thing so much...one of my favorite pieces of memorabilia throughout the years. For me, it’s one of those images that triggers, and unlocks dulled and forgotten memory doors and connections. When I look at it, I start to remember a lot of the feelings that I experienced back when I was a kid…watching ALIEN. It even brings me back to other films and experiences that happened in 1979. I start thinkin’ of watching Doctor Who, Apocalypse Now, The Black Hole, Phantasm, Hanover Street, The In-Laws, Star Trek TMP, and of course…let’s not leave out Bo Derek in “10”. That puzzle is like a damn time-machine for me…special.
Good times,

I appreciate your Total class and dignity!
Truth be told which most of you have probably figured out by now, I am an overly passionate and extremely emotion based person. I have a habit of typing very quickly and then forgetting to run the spell check on myself because of some web sites I frequent form time to time that have none and because of my getting used to such a bad habit.
I looked back through some of my posts and did not pick up many spelling mistakes but I take you at your word and thanks to you I am going to be extra vigilant and as best I can from here on out.
I do have the bad habit as well of being overtly descriptive.
It can only help make my postings to be better to be open minded and accept constructive criticism. I am a most humble fellow as well and the first to admit when I am mistaken or wrong...so if you notice anything else don't be shy to tell me about it.
I'll be a big boy, will suck it up, feel bad at first, then I will make the change as suggested.

Looks to me that the scope of Prometheus is much more than Alien, which to me, was a monster, horror movie, with a science fiction background. Now he's getting into the philosophical questions that science fiction can be so good for doing, though it's going to still be a very scary ride I think!
ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumRidley Scott interviewDec 17, 2011
This film is a 200 million dollar project, so yeah, I think it is going to be bigger than Alien...epic in scope...scot't's master piece hopefully...
ReplyAgent MothmanPrometheus ForumRidley Scott interviewDec 17, 2011
I agree Cain, this will hopefully be Scott's greatest film. I hope it does not disappoint. Of course when you get down to it even if it is Epic, someone is going to complain.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumRidley Scott interviewDec 17, 2011
I have said this before and I will more than likely have to say it again...sorry...but...
we are talking about a project created by H R Giger and Ridely The Man Scott !!!
Stop speculating, There is Nothing to speculate, this film
c a n n o t f a i l
When all is said and done we are going to be discussing what is in all likelihood the single most important science fiction film next to 2001: A Space Odyssey ever made!!!
And from the looks of just the damn leaked trailer alone with crappy focus on a cam this thing already looks like the single greatest action/adventure movie of all time.
This Ridely Scott we are talking about who has had to endure, over the course of the past 10 years so much unfair and bloody vindictive critisism about how over rated he is or how he hasn't made a great film is so many years and bla bla bla bla bla, and this piece here is 100% going to be his "STICKING IT" to everyone who even suggested he was not capable of pulling this off, let alone, surpass and exceed expectations by leaps and frikking bounds.
Folks what I am saying is this, get this dumb idea of this thing even possibly failing in the slightest way, out of your head, cause it can't...period...it is going down as one of the most exciting and entertaining films ever made...So Just Stop It !!!
and watch this again, if you know anything at all about this genre you can easily tell from this crappy hand held garbage just how much better this movie this is going to be than anything that has been released by anyone in maybe the past 33 years since these 2 guys did this the first time!!!
Wake up, this is not just "some movie" we are all waiting on...
...this is cinematic history being made and witnessed by us first hand!!!
And let me tell you...watching that trailer one more time and yet again, and hearing Charleze Theoron screaming as some sinister entity is obviously ripping her to shreds and keeping her alive while it does it, is remarkable even for crappy cam footage with bad audio and I get a chill right down to my very toes even watching it in this crappy condition.
No one can convince me even in the slightest that this thing isn't going to ROCK HOLLYWOOD to it's very CORE and perhaps change the manner in which science fiction is looked at and created for the rest of time!!!
Fox knows one thing a lot of people here do not seem to get yet...
They ARE SITTTING ON CELULOID GOLD...PURE CELULOID GOLD !!!
THIS FILM MAY BE MORE GOLDEN THAN ANY OTHER BEFORE IT IN THE HISTORY OF FILM
IT IS NOT JUST SOME OTHER MOVIE BEING RELEASED...IT IS AN IMPORTANT RUNG AND REPRESENTS THAT RUNG, IN THE LIFETIME AND HISTORY OF FILM...
IT IS ALSO I FEEL GOING TO BE A MASSIVE STATEMENT BY GIGER AND BY RIDLEY CONDEMMING EVERYONE WHO EVEN DARED NOT BELIEVE IN THEM!!!
THIS IS NOT JUST SOME FILM !!!
THIS IS TWO OF THE WORLD'S MASTER STORY STORY TELLERS DOING THE ONE THING THEY BOTH DO BEST AND MAYBE BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD...AND OTHER WORLDS....
TELL US A STORY !!!
WATCH THE DAMN TRAILER AGAIN AND WAKE UP!
IT'S O.K. FOR YOU TO BE EXCITED NOW !!!
YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED FOR IT IN ANY WAY !
I PROMISE !!!

Due to the fact that there appear to be scenes where they're not wearing helmets, I dont think they are proper spacesuits....
