@BugHunter My favorite are still the one on the right on the first row and the one on the left on the second row (#2 & 3). They keep the sence of otherworldly mystery of the first ALIEN. @Krak Fox I like your offering too. It's more commercial but still keeps the sense of mystery. (Though I would prefer not to see the faint image of the open Egg behind the earth.) By the way, I think the actual official poster for the movie will feature these images. (The urns with astronauts walking amongst them, the stone face at the top, and the title of the movie in the black void between these two visual elements.

A day late i know, but happy birthday Ridley Scott! It makes me immeasurably proud that the greatest director in the world is from my neck off the woods, newcastle and south shields are only seperated by the tyne river, and a cinema i believe his parents or grandparents used too own (the tyneside cinema) is only across the road from me at work. A great director, and a great man. Happy belated birthday. Its like the dvd extras when he refers to the Nostromo crew as seven little indians, seven geordies in space, that always makes me smile, as im a geordie (a person from newcastle)...... howay the lads!!!

I think it looks more like a helmet aswell. The way the light reflects on it make it seem like its very tramslucent. Could be an egg in progress, or culd be an empty egg breaking down. Maybe they see traces of weird happenings in an empty helmet?

I think we can see the back of the space jockey's head or space helmet.

What if the space jockeys are a race dead from centuries ( and that explain the dead body here and in alien ) and the crew have to deal with the "cause" that now can menace earth too ? plus that photo remove any kind of credibility of every fake plot we had to read..no one did talk of a dead space jockey at the entrance of the cave ( something so important that would have be written in a plot since its the first enconter with them )

Hey Guys, I’m pretty sure I remember reading both Ridley Scott and HR Giger discussing the possibility of the Space Jockey body or form being a kind of biomechanical suit…or outer shell…for a host being that resides within. I suppose that this would be sort of like the case in “Independence Day”, and more recently “Cowboys and Aliens.” So, this SJ carcass…and the possibly severed or discarded head/helmet object, could be just a previously shed exoskeleton or bio-suit. If this is true…there could be at least one physically smaller SJ creature cruising around this Ampoule Room…depending on how long this SJ body has been laying there. Whatever the case may be…I think that this SJ corpse or cadaver…or whatever it is…is just the tip of this mysterious iceberg. Whatta ya think folks? ~Neurion

i think your right Neurion, i doubt ridley would allow a picture of the actually new creature to be seen in a promotional pic... I think the space jockey we are familiar with is a space suit for something else!!! (You can also see someone else standing at the very right of the pic, you can mainly see the bag there carrying, probably Logan Marshall Green)

Juts my opinion but I believe it is NOT an egg but rather what they are referring to as an ampule, and although it looks like an Egg because it is oval shaped and transparent what that is, what is actually being Investigated in that pic, is one of the "urns", and as per the earlier leaked plot synopsis that looks more and more real each day that goes by and with each new bit of info we receive...in which...David discovers that they contain the genetic material for thousands of species within a viscous liquid called BIOFORMER which can rewrite any living organism on a cellular level. Basically, possession of the substance gives its owner the power to create life. It appears to be a green like liquid goo and it is present inside each and every one of the ampules.

As for the body it looks 100% like a keeled over and either dead or injured "Engineer" or "Grower" if you will. Simply a Guardian of that Ampule Room. As a "long shot" I'd go as far as to say perhaps, if not a "Grower", from another species we haven't seen yet or been made aware of that is all the same, a simple guardian of the Ampule Room/area.

Looking at the pic of the egg it looks more like a head with the two eyes on each side without the nose/hose in front like it got ripped off when it was beheaded or maybe you guys are right and that its just an old egg that opened up and decayed.

yup ..sometimes i see the "eyebrows" ...some others it really look as an egg ... btw dear Ridley Scott " someone will see some traces of Alien DNA ..expecially in the last 8 minutes " my axx !!!!! Everything here is impregnated with alien DNA !!!! Maybe a different story ok ... and not a prequel ok ... but i dont think we must be geeks to see "some Alien DNA" in this movie !! And i dont think all the things we see are from the last 8 minutes !!!

Ok, time to come out of retirement and comment. I'm leaning toward head/helmet - the back of the head/helmet specifically. The larger black shadowy hole closer to the right looks like it would connect to the body/suit. The small black hole on the far left of the head/helmet might be the auditory opening. I compared this pic to one of the stills from Alien (where Dallas is standing on the chair/platform looking down on the head of the SJ -where the face is well lit). Another two cent thought to add to the mix: Am I the only one who is going to be a bit disappointed if the SJ we know and love turns out to be a suit? OH, it just occurred to me...there was a clip posted earlier of something sinuous and moist exiting a small hole or orifice... could it be a SJ we are seeing in that clip, not one of the xenos?

I saw this today and posted it because I am not sure how old it is and I noticed the FOX Logo in the bottom right hand corner as with most of their film posters so I think it is quite possibly legit.

I see FAKE all written on the face of that stoopid alien on left top corner If they could avoided to put an alien in that such silly way it would have been well done ...as a fake of course . ( its anyway better of that semi original atrocious one with the giant head and plastic people walking between the urns )

Yeah. Nice effort...but looks fake. The Alien in the top left...too obvious. But, like I said, nice effort.

I have serious doubts that it is fake due to the fact that google has not removed it from it's image gallery and it clearly bears the FOX logo which does not in any way appear to be photo shopped, but rather, it appears embeded as if we are looking at a photograph of a true poster. But like I said I defer to you experts, if you say it is fake than it must be. I'll roll with you guys on that. All the same, I like it a lot and do not think, and this is just my opinion, that the creature in the planet looks dumb at all, I think it is appropriate. I like creativity in general, i live for it actually, and this image has lots of it.

I have to say that whomever did the design of that poster...he or she put a whole lot of heart and soul into it...i myself am a digital artist and have worked on many game design art resources....in my opinion...a great job....but it's not really the art itself we discussing here...rather the way it portrays the whole story....we all know by now the space jocky will be involved and so will the xeno's( well in some shape or form)...but it lacks the whole mystery aspect....the "so called" official poster does have a simpler yet more mysterious air to it...which is great and i think once we all see the movie it will all make a whole lot of sense ...tho right now...it's just killing me with suspense....and thats perfect!

all the alicante/water pit was considered by someone an hoax ... of course we dont know . They said that they were filming scenes with Fassbender and Pearce alone.... and that could be interesting .

for what i know , from all the discussion that there was on that topic , the water pit was booked for 3 weeks but noone went there ... infact you will not see topics on that subject in the last 30 days . So it was probably an artificial hoax to send people in the wrong place OR they are very good filming in secret . Btw IMDB can indipendently confirm nothing since they know no much more that us and they have already changed their infos many times . The scene should have involved PEarce and fassbender on a "ship" or "yacht" ( but that could be a spaceship too ) ..but that was August talking ..then nothing more arrived

I believe you, and I look forward to seeing that opening sequence as well as this scene no matter where they are/were filmed. By the way and just FYI, In my web surfing I have not come across one piece of proof to indicate to me that the leaked story line from a while back @ The AVP Web Site and others, was wrong in any way what so ever, so while all the other stuff out there may be phoney, with each new bit of info that comes in we get more and more of a confirmation that this leaked story line was not only accurate, but so far, it's been dead bang on the money in every regard.. Add to that the fact that it makes complete prefect sense and that it reads like a Ridley Scott script and what I think we have is a major spoiler for the entire film. I hope I am wrong, I really do, cause if not, I know scene for scene... already... everything that is going to happen in this film from it. I do take everything with a grain of salt, but that storyline so far has been dead bang on the money with NO Exceptions. & The message is in fact, in the end I think, going to be a strong statement and even send a strong message about how mankind just can not afford to make any mistakes in our adventures in outer space...we just have absolutely No Clue despite what we think as a race of beings about what is really going on out there.

someone on the aint it cool found back the original post of the author that said it was a personal try to build a belivable story ( just check all the messages below the AICN thread ). Plus there are almost 3 things that make me belive tha plot is fan made 1) one that have a so clear look at the script CANT add an important actor that was never involved in the movie ( ben foster ) 2) two other names are wrong ...the others were already on IMDB ..so he didnt nail nothing that we already didnt know . 3) he did not mention a space jockey body/suit in the ampule room..its their first meet with an alien ...there should be in the script .

That theme music is in fact "AWESOME" and for me it sounds as if it is made in the spirit of the "Warning" signal the Nostromo intercepted and which is being sent out from the Derelict on LV-426...it sounds like... as Dallas described it..."an accoustical beacon repeating at intervals of 12 seconds." Only it's repeating a lot quicker than 12 seconds, more like 3 or 4. Overall the effect that score has on the visuals is astounding and IMO... Sound... makes/can make... a big difference in the perceived atmosphere of any film that has it. It is a perfect choice.

I think it sounds like the original Alien teaser trailer before the film score was completed by Jerry Goldsmith back in the spring of 79. The Prometues trailer has heavy keyboard sounds added but very, very simular.
