I know..lol. Yeah, I have this feeling that Scott and the others are blowing smoke up our bottoms to make us think one thing and we get we want after all. Hence being all secretive and always changing the plot and never really setting anything in concrete...

I have been pondering the score to this film and I have this feeling that Trent Reznor is going to be involved...just a feeling but his dark tones and what not fit the premise of this film and I can see Scott chatting with him about the movie...

Is it strange that the composer has not been announced yet? I would have thought we would be hearing this by now since it is in post production. I mean it doesn't seem like it would be a secret who the person is just so the music doesn't get leaked before it's heard on screen. Reznor would be at the top of my list too but even big time directors have to deal with someone saying "No, can't do it, I have other commitments." We can be hopeful though.

Yeah, by now we would of heard of who is composing the score for this film but I am hoping that it will be someone we can appreciate and a score that is worth buying. I guess the post production will be going on for sometime, at least until the winter months. Being the Scott used alot of big sets and actual props, not alot of cgi expect for space and the creatures....we should see a trailer by the end of this month from my friends have said in New York.

Thanks you two! We were debating on using a black/grey gradient background instead of the comic con screen cap - to go with the "official" poster that was shown months ago, but we ended up going with the comic con. It's just a REAL piece of Prometheus, so we figured it would be best. Glad you like the update. ;)

Your welcome Ghostface. Btw, I've always wondered about the streaks and graininess of that picture - is some sort of dust storm going on? If so, the particles look like deadly shards of some material whipped up by ferocious winds. Curiously, it also looks like some kind of watermark overlaying the actual photo. What do you think?

Who knows, it does look very interesting though. I compare it slightly to LV 426, with the way the dust is blowing around and the harsh winds, etc... But we also have our own gradient which lays overtop of the banner image for the site to add extra effect, but yes i know what you mean. This image is great because it doesn't explain very much, yet generates many questoins.

We've already spoke with Fox about merchandising clothing and ball caps, etc... but if we were to use the "PROMETHEUS" logo, it would not be allowed. We're still working on it though. When it comes time for Prometheus' release, we will have more than enough cool stuff to give away, don't worry. All in time. But thank you again for the feedback!

Sweet! Should make a Prometheus Tee Shirt or Hooodies, with the Prometheus logo on front and on back "Building Better Worlds"...I would def buy that.

You know, the quality of the mindsets and speculation on here is superb and VERY thought provoking compared with places like IMDB. These latest posts are rife with intelligent, well thought out speculation and some of you here should be bloody script-writers, I tell you! Each week I visit Prometheus-related sites and I'm getting more and more drawn in buy some of the fascinating theories being put forward. Especially the ones about the cannisters. My only worry is that if this film has at least some of the theories stated here and is 'multi-layered' as some have suggested, then this will be a thinking person's sci-fi film and it has to have a suitable rating, otherwise we're going to get yawning, bored teens who've only come to see schlock and space-vampires and realsing this is not forthcoming may then resort to texting and throwing popcorn about. I hope to God my experience of this film will not be shattered by shallow morons who have no concept of a true cinematic experience like in the days of old.

i also see that both the kid and one of the mercenaries are list as "uncredited" . If that is definitive that mean very brief apparences . I think the mercenaries can escort the scientists in africa ( maybe is a warzone ) but they will not be on the spaceship . One of the mercenaries is credited but maybe because is also a stuntman in the movie ( his basic profession )

Guess I've opened a can of worms here! Regarding Predatordreads comment about different timestreams: Prometheus is said to be set in about 2090, thirty years before Alien, how about the Bladerunner sequel moving 60 years into the future from 2019 to 2089 so its roughly the same time? I have an idea it could be based around replicants/androids and that could tie in with biomechanoids. Regarding Frantz's comments on crossovers: AVP had some good ideas I don't think it was as disastrous as everyone made out. I know its heard to say how this could work as we don't know the full Prometheus story (or Bladerunner sequel's) I'm just having a bit of fun y'know!

This thread made me consider a couple of things about this movie I hadn't considered before. The first is that no one has discussed Ridley Scott's take on what earth looks like in 2090 even after he showed us what Los Angeles looks like in 2019. That thought alone makes me more excited to see what he'll come up with, given the fact that he practically invented the sci-fi urban sprawl aesthetic with Blade Runner, a template so many other films have been inspired by. The second is that no one in the alien series has shown us what earth looks like. Ridley, ironically enough, gets to be the first.
The second is that no one in the alien series has shown us what earth looks like.
Not in the first three films no. We do get a small glimpse in the alternate ending of Alien Resurrection, (can't believe i've just used Alien Resurrection as an example, forgive me!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnmMksVK8pY If you look carefully in the background as the Betty lands you can see the wrecage of a craft that looks awfully simular to the Sulaco. Better seen on the dvd & blu ray.

Some amazing Giger environs there. It would be good to think we see more of the Sj's homeworld other than the 'canister cave' with the big head.

yes there must be some open or big environments ...they cant do a movie all in a cave and on a spaceship ... Ridley even in his more claustrophobic movies used fantastic views The aliens worlds in Alien are stunning , and we were in 1979 the city landscapes and architecture in bladerunner is stunning the middle east views in kingdom of heaven are fantastic French landscapes in The Duellists made me move and live there the dawn over the city of Rome in The Gladiator is awesome Legend is an underrated movie with fantastic scenery so i dont fear a dull and dark movie

Kind of like an Event Horizon setup but the crew will see real life nightmares rather than experience them psychology and I am betting this ship never comes back as well...going to be awesome, not foe the crew but us fans to see Scott's vision.

xeno_alpha_07Prometheus ForumAlien Directors cut: The Alien Transmission AKA:SOS/Warning signal
True. I don't have a surround system (but want one). From listening to both scenes once again they are the same. Other audio differences i have noticed are in the scene when Lambert confronts Ripley. Dallas' dialogue has been lowered in volume in the blu ray. Before Ash attacks Ripley she radios for Parker and Lambert. In the quadrilogy a sound effect has been added each time she presses the comms button. In the blu ray it has been removed and is back to it's original form. One visual change in the blu ray i have noticed in the directors cut. On the quadrilogy DVD as the crew enter the derelict cgi smoke has been added. On blu ray it's been removed and restored to it's original form.

Mala'kakPrometheus ForumWhy Do We Assume Human to Alien Mutation?
Interesting stuff guys. Sorry about this long ass post, lots to get across but you'll find some of it amusing. Yeah, that's definitely not a mutated person or Jockey in that screenshot, but now that I look at it again I'm wondering what is actually happening. Is she falling over in pain? About to burst? I just think it's sounding more and more like we won't see Xenos in the classic sense. If we do end up seeing them in the movie. I'm still inclined to believe that they're somehow involved. That's one of the only reasons I entertained this theory and emerged from the shadows. I've been following it when I can, trying to make sense of it. Now I think it's very unlikely, and am glad to drop the subject from now on unless there's something solid. But it might be refreshing, new ,and different when it happens, and if executed right (new for the alien series thus far). It's not unprecedented because something similar happened in an unused script for Alien 3. And if Giler and Hill fed Ridley ideas about how to get around facehuggers/chestbursting it's not totally out of the realm of possibility. In the script that features Hicks and Bishop, with Ripley in a coma, the alien genetics/bioweapon are analyzed and altered so the eggs are miniaturized, releasing spores instead of huggers. As you can imagine a scientist breaks the stasis the miniature egg is kept in and a puff of spores is released. Almost all the aliens (all those at the main setting of the story) would have been spawned by infected people in a similar way. They should have just written in that they chestburst afterwards, but their skin peels off and they become a classic Xenomorph. Only, you didn't know when someone would burst and it was a little ridiculous because the change wouldn't occur so fast. They'd literally pop out of their skin and reveal a full grown xenomorph. I think if Ridley does anything at all like this the change will be much slower, and more realistic. Exlained by nanites like some have guess, instead of the facehugger spore being weaponized. We might see small tendons sprout instantly from someones back, but that's as far as Ridley would go. What those writers were doing was playing with the idea that the organism could morph any biological material to reproduce, an idea presented in the deleted scenes of Alien. They made it able to do this on a further microscopic level by miniaturizing the eggs/ facehugger spores or embryos, in an attempt to weaponize it for their own purposes. So the idea is the organism uses ALL the organic material and tissue to fully mature within the person. Can't remember if the queen alien in that script layed eggs that produce spores but i think it did. The point is, I wouldn't be surprised if Ridley took some advice on how to get a new spin on the alien, so that something resembling this happens at some point in the film. Only we would work our way forward seeing the creature pick up a new life cycle, possibly morphing things first. Or collecting victims to morph like in the deleted scenes, infecting with its tail, like an ovipositor. I think Xenos are in it in some capacity, and the goo is involved, but that we wont see the alien in its final form until the film concludes. I'm wondering if the creature starts out biomechanical or not and if they'll go into how the jockeys create this stage of the bioweapon. I think if the creature's explained it will look/act different at first. Rick is on to something about the creature retaining characteristics. All the stuff about the skull showing through was because it infected Cain imo. I think someone said that on the commentary, but I could be wrong. Also people say the sexual stuff the alien supposedly did was because of Cain's memories/emotions. So, they could have instilled the series and the creature from the start with inter-generational adabtability. Something about it changing over generations, and gaining characteristics from other lifeforms through mutations within the film, depending on what it originated from (we see this in Alien 3 big time) could figure prominently. That's why it could start out radically different. With a whole different life cycle... and I'm totally hoping an android or jockey gets hit with the bioweapon. I think the goo infects something in a way the Jockies didn't intend it to and that unleashes something worse on them. That's why I was saying one android may be semi-organic, moreso than the other, like the character in Terminator Salvation. The body would be synthetic, retaining some organs, and with only a partial cybertronic- artificial brain. Weyland company perhaps tested on this individual and other humans to convert to or create synthetics, specifically their android lines cybertronic mind, then ruthlessly wiped her memories afterwards to prevent the secret from getting out. And all the other stuff about androids fits then. And why Ridley is so coy when he says there may be a couple "robots" instead of androids or synthetics, or even replicants. It's strange he doesn't call them androids or synthetics. They aren't simple robots if you know anything about what an android is vs. a cyborg. He wouldn't call his replicants just "robots" unless he was covering something. Even though that may be his sci-fi term specific to blade runner. "Robot" could imply cyborg, android/synthetic, replicant, a non-humanoid robot etc... It's a hint to the first Alien, and that the subject matter will be synthetic heavy. I think in Alien it was the first time those space truckers came across a synthetic, and they don't realise just how human-like the thing is so they proclaim it a "robot". This may be more true in Ash's case, but may or may not be the case with the second "robot" in Prometheus. A lot of this is why people are beginning to speculate the movie will have loose bladerunner ties. Ridley has always imagined the two movies sharing the same universe, and if Prometheus is set in that universe... and a Bladerunner sequel is being planned. Well then I wouldn't put it past Ridley to include some ties. Maybe Weyland wound up with a replicant to get the ball rolling on reverse engineering for their own A.I. If the creature starts organic, it could pick up some of it's biomechanical traits from the cyborg as it replicates the synthetic material joined to bio material. Just something that might work however the xeno creatures function. If, that's a big if, the derelict-looking ship described in the Prometheus trailer is in fact the derelict. Then, what is said about there being a shot of an empty egg silo could be important.

MentosPrometheus ForumPrometheus Plot...?
Hate to say it but this 'plot' matches some of details we've heard about the film already:

- Noomi Rapace's description of her Character growing up in Africa
- The supposed 'Desert' seen in the trailer screening
- The giant head we've seen
- The 'beginning' of the film is shot in Iceland (It takes place on LV426)
- We've seen pictures of the wall markings (from the comic con screenies) in what could have been a temple. It definitely looked like it was on LV426
- EDIT Also: we've seen a picture of 'smashed up' part of a space ship (lending credence to the crash)
- AND we see Fassbender cry in the comic con footage - is he becoming human? (Its also speculated that the green goo/grey matter on his finger is actually a drop of blood)
This definitely hits the mark in relation to some of the stuff we already know :S

What a pleasure to read, however I am sure Ridley has a vision where he wants to make more movies even a trilogy. What you have done is put a whole beginning, missle and end to the synopisis so I am not sure this would happen but what a great vision of a movie, got me intrigued just reading it and not many things do that. Also i have to agree, why does everyone think about this mutation idea i am not so sure about it. There isn o real avidence to support it.

I think the leaked plot outline that gave a start date of around 2058 for a discovery that gives mankind coordinates to an alien world might be correct. We might see young Shaw accompanying the discovery team, with her father who could be an archaeologist. This is what some have speculated. Then it would jump forward to the 2070s after the Prometheus is built, and we see an older Shaw who took an interest in the project and joined the crew. You might say she gets captivated by whatever they discover and she spends her whole life dedicated to following up on her father's discovery.

Well, from the article that I just read, we will see a young shaw in the film with her father. As for the Mercenaries....it's like a monkey wrench being thrown into the working machine. I think somehow they may steal the canister and the Prometheus crew are the ones to blame by the creatures.

I think with the inclusion of the girl playing the young SHAW we will see the family dynamics between her and the parents as aparentely she loses them at an early age. I'm only guessing but I think that is probably the only input to the story she will have.

This is all starting to make sense. Remember what Noomi Rapace said that there are scientists and believers and she said that her character is a believer. It would be cool if the mercenaries were fanatics aginst the corporation and it was one agenda vs another. Cain 1977 great work man!

Thanks man! I kind of think that Shaw (Rapace) will lose her faith when she loses her family, kind of like a Jodi Foster in "Contact". The Mercenaries can do anything and Mercenaries are hired by people, corp's or just one person...so, it will be interesting to see what they are after and why? Perhaps another powerful company.

mmm i think that something like a fight between corporations , fanatics , humans in general will distract from the basic of an alien themed movie , it must be a scif-fi-terror movie not some syndacate wars .
