Maybe I'll make some disappointed when I say this but here it goes - I've never seen the alien-story being about Ripley having a family and everything being about a happy ending and whatever. If you want positivity and a happy ending you can check out other franchises. Here bad things happen and people die (Alien anyone?) so deal with it. Even the AVP's and the prequels were never about that so the majority are in line with the first one.

I think that he's totally wrong about Hicks and Newt being killed off. They did the right decision IMO. Comics to me don't count since they're not official material, the movies are and the rest is fiction if you ask me.

This, I would like to see new worlds, new monsters, maybe new corporations and how they try to screw each-other over. Characters that are not tied to anyone that came before would be welcomed, they need to be well-written and executed.

The prequels are mixed but at least they tried something new. Give me new movies and new characters, more of the same would be boring.

I would say keep what was good in the prequels. I liked the Engineers, the black goo and the idea of new monsters. Developing the Engineers is my biggest wish if we shall talk about things that should be kept and developed from the prequels. 1, 2, and 3 are those that matter to me but the rest is from average (AVP, AR, and the prequels) to really bad (AVPR).

Ripley should have stayed dead after Alien 3, they made a mockery out of that character in AR. Hicks, what should his role have been in a prison planet? Maybe they could have gone with another story but I don't miss that character in Alien 3.

Very much so if you ask me. Just because Prometheus was a disappointment doesn't mean that you got to throw everything away that it introduced. It opened up the alien-universe so it didn't become about running away from the Xeno for the 100th time.

This was ALSO the way that Neil Blomkamp looked at his ALIEN V it would give us TWO ALTERNATIVE Continuations to ALIENS.  So Fans can enjoy either, or Reject One in Favor of the other. I THINK this is what PKJ is on about in Terms of the Comics/Novels and Video Games...

Especially as FAR as having to Re-Tread with Familiar Characters, even if its just to Connect to a Family Member (Amanda) i am NOT SURE you have to KEEP doing this..... The BIGGER PLAYERS in the Franchise have to be the Company and WHY they have such a Interest in the Xenomorphs, and Engineers.  I would say A.I has its Role, and you have to have something that is Related to the Xenomorph....

You do-not Need the same Company but the Story has to be about WHY and WHERE and WHEN we get Humans who get themselves into Trouble with the Horrors the Engineers had Created.... and to WHY did this Happen.... and having a A.I or Company behind it with their own AGENDA is what Drives the PLOT/STORY.

You then have to CREATE and Flesh Out like New Characters and IF they are Well Written and Executed then you DO-NOT need to have the Old Cast or Relatives of them become Involved.

But i think that DISNEY will PLAY it SAFE and will NOT go and Diverge too FAR from what we had before.... so it will be some LV-XXX World, it will have Eggs, Face Huggers and a MONSTER that will STAY VERY CLOSE to what we saw in the Franchise.... and YES i think they will TRY to Connect to Characters from the Original Movies and Especially the First Two.

So their Vision is Limited and we will be STUCK within the Small Confines of the BOX that was ALIEN/ALIENS.

This REALLY is the case......as in they know that the MAJORITY would view ALIENS as the BIGGEST of the Franchise and so to have 4 Major Characters all KILLED OFF by the TIME we Finish ALIEN 3, had Disappointed many Fans.

They was then STUCK as FAR as HOW can you continue after ALIEN 3, you need the Xenomorph, but what is a ALIEN MOVIE without Ripley and HENCE we got the PLOT for Alien Resurrection.... simply Because they Struggle to think of NEW THINGS and Worry that you have to have RIPLEY to SELL!

Blomkamps 2 Alien V Projects and the Walter Hill/David Giler version of their Alien V all had Ripley in and so would De-Canon those Movies (Alien 3/Alien R).

And so with the Novels/Comics we have seen Stories which would Remove Alien 3 etc from Canon....  Personally i think Ripleys Story was TOLD in the First 4 Movies you have the OPTION of Continue with her in a ALIEN R sequel... but that Movie was a bit of a Disappointment.... and even so i think they should LEAVE her Story as it was.

It sucks that Newt got Killed but the ONLY option would have been to SET the Plot of ALIEN 3 like 6-7 Years latter as well at the TIME that Alien 3 was Shooting then Carrie Henn was 15...... UNLESS they Cast another 9-10 Year Old to Play her.

Hicks i can Understand why some would be UPSET... i dont know why Michael Biehn could not have been Cast/Written into a ALIEN 3 and then Ripley Dies (Miss Weaver wanted out) and the Torch could have been PASSED to Hicks.

But as FAR as Comics/Novels such is the Fondness for these Characters that its NO WONDER that some Novels/Comics will COVER them and IGNORE the 3rd Movie as Canon.

yeah Dark Horse where really good at writing ALIEN comics. I although as much as I want Newt, Hicks and Ripley being retconned back to life... In the end it would be a terrible idea for the Alien cinematic universe. It would open a door to retcon more stuff which would ruin the alien movies.

I think that between the new novels and the RPG, there is a lot going for the "new canon." The RPG does not throw away Alien 3, btw. It acknowledges the xenomorph itself from the movie and uses the idea of the Starbeast "novel" by Robert Morse, originally mentioned, I think, in the Weyland-Yutani Report.

I am particularly fond of the direction that the novels by Alex White (The Cold Forge and Into Charybdis) have taken. They are both really excellent reads and also follow the general trends in the new canon. They bring in the political aspects - the UA, 3WE, UPP, and ICSC, and the corporate aspects - particularly the WYU vs Seegson stuff. Into Charybdis even ties into Prometheus very briefly. They also do some really startling things with the "black goo" from Prometheus and Covenant.

As for the comics, I am buying the new Marvel stuff, but I see very little real effort to stick to the canon of the RPG and novels, especially in the second arc and in the Aftermath comic. I am starting to feel like the Marvel comics are what some here have referred to as "fluff."

One thing I DO like though is the continued and even expanded use of some of the better characters from the old Dark Horse days, like Zula Hendricks from Defiance, who has also featured in the novel Prototype. Its also nice to see the new novels using Amanda Ripley from Isolation and Olivia Shipp from Echo. All of these are great characters that continue the legacy of Ellen Ripley as a strong female sci-fi character. I believe Olivia even shows up in Fireteam Elite, though I have yet to play it.

I would love to see Blue Marsalis from the Alex White novels return as she is probably my favorite Alien/s character at this point, and is certainly the most surprising.

I actually think that what I have seen of the "new canon" is very promising (minus the lackluster marvel comics). I personally don't care if they retcon Resurrection, but I guess we will have to see what happens. The Alien universe has a lot of potential for growth and expansion, particularly if the authors and directors, going forward, lean into the political and corporate aspects.

Well to be fair Mothra did have her own set of movies: Mothra (1961), Rebirth of Mothra (1996), Rebirth of Mothra II (1997), and Rebirth of Mothra III (1998)

She didn't become a Godzilla-related kaiju until The Three Headed Monster: Ghidorah (1964), kind of like how Predator was considered a separate sci-fi movies until AVP

Regarding the STORY in Question....

If it gives some Background to Vasquez like Flash Back to when she was Younger and WHEN/WHY it was that Leticia and Ramon Vasquez had to Grow Up without much of their Mother around and then we get to the Current Story about them, then YEAH this would NOT go and Conflict the Franchise much.  Still comes to the Point that we have the Xenomorphs being FOUND in Numerous Places though, the more that are FOUND the more i FEEL it defeats the Purpose of the Company Actions in Alien 3 and more so Alien Resurrection.

But none the less these are Interesting Stories to Fans, they are WHAT makes Money and thats the Biggest thing. And if they are NOT like your Cuppa-Tea then Fans can Pass them OFF as not being Direct Movie Canon.... as they do-not have the same Impact as Movies that Disappoint Fans or where Fans be like "I dont accept this Movie or that Movie as Canon"

I understand what your Point is, its just a Shame that for Many and for those WISHING to make Money then NO XENO means NO ALIEN Project as its what Sells....

Yet the Term ALIEN in Context is something that RS had tried to make under a Umbrella that refers to anything that has come from LV-223 and the Engineers Experiments.  The Space Jockey being ALIEN, and so the Engineers are ALIEN and what Horrors they Create, or Worlds they Seed and many Races are all ALIEN.... but the Term is mainly looked at by most people as ALIEN=XENOMORPH.

ALIEN is a Cash Cow.... its Popular especially Ripley and Xenomorphs and its WHY they are in the Majority of Comics/Novels etc.  They could have GIVEN US say something Different that Vasquez's Daughters encounter but its the Familiarity with the Xenomorph and how Marketable it is as to WHY they stick to the Vanilla-Designs.

The Problem with all these Stories if they PUSH to become Canon, is its SHOWS US there are MANY places where the Xenomorphs are Encountered...

Which then leads us to WHY would the Company seem to NOT have Obtained anything between 2179-2380 in the Movies.... Especially as FAR as WHY do they bother with Cloning Ripley?   Surely there are MANY samples that can be HAD... if we Consider more and more of the Comics and Novels as Canon.

The Best Way would be that the ODD encounter is made in FAR FAR places... like WAY FURTHER than the 50LY Radius of the Movies from Earth, and so set Thousands of Light Years away, and say between 2150-2250.... but also have it that some of these Encounters are Connected to the Black Goo etc but are NOT like Vanilla-Variants.

The Engineers are Interesting... but the Problem again is Conflict with the Movies, i know some were Disappointed we had to Accept that the Engineer on LV-223 in Prometheus was the LAST ONE on that World.... and the Engineers on Planet 4 where all KILLED.

But the other OPTION would be to as to WHY have these Angry beings NOT come and Destroyed us by 2179?  They may have Abandoned us and LV-223 some Thousands of Years ago.... but NO SOON as they Discover we can Travel the Stars, and USE their Technology (via Synthetics) and have Access to their Bio-Weapon and even have seen THIS USED to Destroy them... (Planet 4) via Proxy/David.

Then surely they would be COMING FOR US!

The Work Around this is via they are Located in FAR FAR away Places like 20'000+ Light Years or in other Galaxies and are NOT yet aware of LV-223/Planet 4.

So maybe the Engineers should NOT be Explored too much, in context to Contact with Man/Earth from 2000-2250 etc

But Mankind in Context to Future, or the Past... or another PART of the Galaxy or another Galaxy entirely... then YEAH that should NOT go and Conflict the Franchise as much.

Unfortunately the Xenomorph its self is what a lot of Fans do see as Synonymous with the Franchise, as some had Mentioned you cant have a Godzilla Movie with NO like Godzilla....  but what say Prometheus was doing would be like say if you had a Mothra Monster Movie where there would be No Godzilla..... a Stand Alone Movie about MOTHRA.

You will However get some Fans who will be WHERE THE HELL is Godzilla and this was the case with Prometheus when some Fans was WHERE is the Xenomorph?  How does this even Connect to ALIEN as they just assumed that ALIEN can ONLY go and Connect to Xenomorphs.

The ALIEN: Prefix is a Blessing and a Curse... any Story thats in the Universe but does-not have the PREFIX will maybe Suffer from NOT being Recognized as SET in the same Universe and this can Effect Marketability and Awareness.

Adding the PREFIX gets the Project to become Noticed and more Marketable etc.... at the COST that some Fans will EXPECT that there has to be Xenomorphs or Connections to Ripley etc.

A lot of Projects therefor play is SAFE but they also do-so by using what i call the Vanilla-Morph which i mean they will STICK to a Aesthetic that is Extremely  Close to that of Alien/Aliens. 

A Example..... IF we had Alien:Covenant feature the Neomorphs more.... and Oram was Face Hugged by a Octopus like Organism and he was taken to the SHIP and then he Chest-Bursted a like Deacon..... you would get some Fans well more than some who would be Confused to WHY is this a ALIEN: Movie when there is NOT a single Xenomorph!

At least it's not a continuation of the Vasquez character, which is a good thing. It shouldn't be related to any that came before. Maybe they could use new ones and if those are successful they can use them to branch off into something else? Let's say that they introduce character X into this story, if enough people find X to be interesting, they can use that as a main character for another story? Having said this, I would rather have a story that isn't related to what came before, other than maybe having X-morphs or the Engineers in it. Use as little of what came before as possible, while try to expand the universe.

Should be interesting to read, I need to stop procrastinating and finish reading the ALIENS novelization so I can go onto Alien 3 or Aliens Earth Hive

Reading into that IF the STORY will Focus on her Daughters and the Events say Happen as Vasquez is OFF to LV-426 or AFTER (Her Daughters do-not know their Mothers Fate).

Then it SHOULD NOT go and Conflict the Franchise much.....  so i JUMPED THE GUN with this one, by Assuming it would Follow a Younger Vasquez who has Dealt with Xenomorphs prior to LV-426 in 2179.

Which THANKFULLY sees to NOT be the Case ;)

 I just reread the the synopsis, the book will focus on Genette Vasquez's backstory prior to ALIENS but its just a platform for the novel's real protagonist Leticia Vasquez and Ramon Vasquez.

With Respect some will like it, but for me this is the PROBLEM i have with the Novels and Comics is a lack of Continuity with the Movies....

Especially when they SAY they are Canon....

I have NO PROBLEM with a Anthology Series of Books or TV Series that touches on Characters as LONG as they PAY attention to the Franchise....

so my ISSUE here is that we will Focus on a Younger Vasquez (which is Fine) but that this Younger Version has Encountered Xenomorphs!!!   and YET in ALIENS it seems that NONE of them have seen anything like it before.

But i guess she had a Memory Wiped or something.... like the LAME Excuse for some Novels where Ripley was up to all SORTS of SHENANIGANS.... during her 57 Years in Supposed Hyper Sleep on the Narcissus....

Because the Writers cant think or WONT RISK giving us a Fresh Story that does-not have any Previous Characters.

It just comes to LAZY thinking and Oh Coincidence...

Now they could have had it where she Encounters something that has been Infected with the Black Goo....

And so we have Humans turned into like this...

But they just CANT go and do a ALIEN/ALIENS Story without having the Vanilla-Morph as i call them..... No Problem with that, just mainly having it TIE into a Story with Vasquez!

How many more of the Sulaco Crew have had Encounters with the Xenomorph and Forgot about it?  These also then BEG the Question regarding as to WHY they could NOT Obtain any Xenomorphs between ALIENS and ALIEN R!

You could do it i Guess.... say if the Outpost/Planet gets Destroyed....

But i think that having a Story about someone from ALIENS or even ALIEN who Encounter the Xenomorph prior to ALIEN/ALIENS is just DUMB and LAZY...

So as FAR again as the Deacon... i can ONLY assume its Origins are from the Strain of Goo that was in the Temple Complex we see in Prometheus, and so the Alien Covenant Strain is Different.

And so its likely in the RPG (i have not Read it yet) at some Point a Ship does go to LV-223 to Bring Back some of the Black Goo.....

Yeah the Deacon was a Mystery in Prometheus on that was Vary Ambiguous.  We saw the One at the END of the Movie but this to me was showing the Pathogen in those Urns had Infected a Human Egg-Cell which lead to the Creation of something with more DNA of the Pathogen, mixed with Human DNA.

The Mural to me indicated the URNS in that Room had the DNA of the Creature from the MURAL the other Deacon.

The Origin of this Mural Organism is OPEN to debate... my Interpretation was the Engineers had Encountered a Organism they NEVER had Created and USED their Creation Tool (GOO) to Extract its DNA and Create Many Hybrids of this... the Deacon in the Mural being ONE such Hybrid and the Neomorphs being a Off-Shoot of another Hybrid.

I think its Logical to Assume that Each of the Temple Mounds had a Different Variant of Experiments/Black Goo.

But there have been other Interpretations of Prometheus... i think that the Earlier Drafts give more Clues.... with these we are Indicated the Engineers had Discovered something they had Attempted to Re-Engineer into Numerous Variants using their Scarab DNA Harvesters.

It will be INTERESTING to see if the RPG will Explore as to WHAT was in the FRESCO ;)

As FAR as the Engineers i would keep them a Mystery.... i think some Fans get Caught up too much in the LV-223 Kind and thinking that the Engineers are just Interested in Creating Horrors and Unleash them on the Galaxy.

What we had in ALIEN would be kind of like say we Discover a Human Ship on a World that has either Nukes or some Bio-Weapon on-board and the Pilots have been Poisoned/Killed by their Cargo....

Discovering as to (1) WHY these Humans had Created their Weapon and HOW, would be ONE thing to Explore!

But Once thats DONE... its the (2) WHY would they do so and WHO are they Intending to USE it on!

And Prometheus basically chose to cover (2) but was Vague... but my Point with the Engineers in Context to the Human Ship Analogy.... is there is MORE to Humans and our Agenda, History than just HOW/WHY/WHEN we Created a Weapon that we LOADED on a Ship to SEND to some Place.

And so the Engineers are Creators and THIS seems their Main Motive, but also in ADVANCING their Own Kind..... and so the Creation of Horrors/Bio-Weapons is NOT the Main thing about them.  But Exploring them in this way is NOT what seems to Please the Fans.... so would want to see more about the LV-223 Engineers and their Weapons.

I guess its like the Predators (Yautja)  they must have some History, Culture there is more to them than just HUNTING for SKULLS but maybe thats a Aspect thats BEST left to Mystery and so i think the same is BEST with the Engineers.

BigDave - They have kept the Engineers pretty mysterious in the RPG so far. I assume its because they want to leave them open for future movies to expand on. I too would love to see Ridley finish the Prometheus arc and add more to the Engineer mythos. It has a lot of potential.

And that IS a deacon on the cover. I won't be spoilery, but lets just say you'd never be able to guess how they come into the story. Its super weird, but I like it.

Yeah, Prometheus was leagues better than the first AVP movie. I love the idea of AVP but the way it was handled by Paul W. S. Anderson, almost ruined the idea of AVP for me.

When i did a Estimate and Calculations a few Years back i came to a 85-90ft Height for the Cargo Hold.  If i Recall when looking where the Cargo Hold/Pilot Chamber would be Fitted the Derelict lacked about 20-25ft in Height to FIT the BOTH inside...

But your work is VERY Accurate.... its a Shame we NEVER got like a HAINES like Manual for the Ships in the Franchise it would be GREAT to see someone do a Complete Schematic of the Derelict.

This metahuman plot sounds like a bad idea, I would rather they reintroduce the Yautja in to Alien canon. 

Big Dave you are right! I researched a little bit how I will design it! I watched the movie scene (like 20 times) and estimated from there how big it will be :) but you are right it got a little bit too big :)

Looking into that PLOT...

It seems we will get to see some Rich Corporate kinds who have LITTLE CARE for their Employees and Especially the Blue-Collar and Working Class.

It seems that the MAIN FOCUS will be on the Prodigy Corporation who in PART will be Working on the Creation/Engineering of Enhanced Humanoids...

These Humanoids will have Super-Human Abilities but i think these will be more like HOW we see Ripley 8 is Superior to a Normal Human rather than them having Various like X-Men Super Powers.... (No like SUPERMAN if you would not as far as beings as Powerful as Kal-El).

It will Feature normal like Synthetics too.... it could be we will see these Synthetics and Meta-Humans being Treated as NONE-HUMAN like we see the Replicants are in Blade Runner.

It would seem that ONE of the MAIN Characters will be  a Military/Security Guy (JD Hermit) who had lost his Sister when she was 10 (Marcy) but he Discovers that ONE of the Meta-Humans who identifies as (Wendy) actually has his (JD Hermit) Sisters Consciousness uploaded to her (Wendy) Meta-Human Body.

Now its too Early to Speculate if this WENDY is going to be a MALE so we have a Male Aesthetically who Identifies as a Female (Consciousness) or we have a Very Masculine looking Female Aesthetically (think Vasquez ).

We have a Synthetic who is Tasked with Teaching Wendy, and Attempting to UNLOCK her TRUE POWERS who has some Sinister Agenda/Motive against the Company and Mankind.

This would seem the Future Threat Aspect (a A.I with its own Agenda and Objectives) who are Tasked with Mentoring these Meta-Humans...  i guess this would be like a David 8 being tasked with Tutoring over Roy Batty (but if BOTH were Female).   

It would seem that Wendy would Object to HOW herself and the Meta-Humans are being USED and so we could see her Lead some kind of REVOLT.... but it could be the Synthetic Kirsh and maybe others would be USING this to their Advantage to take Control over the Meta-Humans.

This may seem a OK Plot but i Worry it would seem a None-Alien kind of Plot... and so after like 3 Hours of this i think Fans would WANT to be seeing the Xenomorph.

The Question is WHEN/HOW/WHY the Xenomorphs would come into PLAY?

Are the Corporation using the Black Goo or Xeno-Dna to Create these Meta-Humans?

Are the Xenomorphs Accidentally Created at some Point or Evolve from the Prodigy Companies Experiments?

Are the Xenomorphs Created as a Response to the Threat of the Synths and Meta-Humans or by the Synths to deal with the Meta-Humans or Humanity?

Or are the Eggs Discovered, or are known of (USED for Experiments) but then someone... be that Humans, Synths or Meta-Humans then Decide to UNLEASH the Xenomorphs in some CONFLICT that we will see OCCUR between SYNTHS, HUMANS where META-HUMANS will PLAY some Role and then the Xenomorphs?

We can ONLY go and Speculate at the Moment but i think their Discovery will lead to a OUTBREAK due to some PARTY deciding to USE them for some Nefarious Agenda.

Which brings the BIGGEST CONCERN is that THIS would surely CONFLICT with the Franchise and Especially the Prequels!

I think its TOO EARLY to be Writing it OFF just yet.....

I think the ALIEN Franchise has been in a MESS since after Prometheus as Prometheus had NOT really Satisfied those who Expected a more ALIENY Movie with HOPES of seeing the Xenomorph or Similar and having the ORIGINS answered a Little More.

Prometheus had OPENED the Franchise up, and was NOT intended to be a Direct Prequel or Answer the Eggs Question.... which the REAL PROBLEM had became the Movie just NEVER gave some Fans any CLOSURE.. on that Subject. (Derelict and Eggs).

I was FINE with this as for ME there was enough Clues to have a Good Guess and some MYSTERY is always Welcome.

But the General Audience and a Certain amount of ALIEN Franchise Fans will be EXPECTING any ALIEN TV Show or a Movie to have the XENOMORPH.

And so its going to be a CASE of HOW MUCH of a Distraction is this other PLOT going to be and HOW MUCH of a Emphasis/Role are these Meta-Humans and Prodigy Shenanigans going to TAKE UP..... if this DOES-NOT go and ENGAGE the Fans would they LOOSE the Interest when we get to the XENOMORPH reveal... and HOW MUCH of a ROLL will they get?

It would be LIKELY the First Season will be about 10 Episodes Long (but it could be between 8-12) with a 45 Minute Run-Time.

From whats been indicated so FAR it seems we may have to WAIT about 4 Hours into it before we get our Xenomorphs, but as SOON as we get them it would Appear they will PLAY a Considerable Role/Screen Time.

Where surely about 60-70% Into the Season it will become Action and Effects Heavy with enough Xenomorphs to Please the Fans who like a more ALIENS kind of Flick.

Its a Case of would the First 30-40% of the Season do enough to ENGAGE the Fans?

Well, that officially killed any interest I might have had in the show. And unless Disney go ahead with Covenant 2, I am done with any future Alien projects. I loved Covenant and Prometheus (and time will prove me correct) and to leave those plot threads dangling would be a crime.

I am concerned as to HOW this will Connect to the Prequels and Alien Franchise.... is the Xenomorph just going to be used as Fan-Service?

They have to be Careful as the Emphasis away from Xenomorphs and on David had been something that BUGGED some Fans.... they could RISK the same with these Meta-Humans.

Saying that with a TV Show you can get away with such things as you have the RUN-TIME to Explore such things, so if Prometheus was a TV Series then i dont think the more Screen Time on NONE-XENO related things would have been a BANE of Contention as much.

At least the TV Series Time-Line is more known, and it seems it will likely take Place between 2095-2100 which is NOT so in the Near Future as they stated.... which made me Dread its gonna be 2050 kind of Time-Line.

Will the TV show be Canon?  Will it Mention either Weyland or Yutani?

With ALIEN we had the Special Order 937 and we was always wondering HOW this came about and HOW MUCH the Company had known about the Xenomorph.

At the TIME of Prometheus what we was left with (looking at RS comments) is that the Derelict/Eggs were on LV-426 and the Event is Related to the OUTBREAK on LV-223 and so it would be WISE to ASSUME a Mission to LV-223 after the LOSS of Contact with the Prometheus would LEAD to the Special Order 937

With the U-Turn of Plot with Alien Covenant then its more Clearer that Special Order 937 had came in Response to the Advent Message that David would send the Company.

The TV Series being SET like BEFORE the Covenant Mission had got UNDER WAY... where we would see Xenomorphs like 5-10 Years before the EVENTS of Alien Covenant... and these Xenomorphs will be on Earth...... makes Davids Advent and Special Order 937 kind of MUTE!

So we have to WONDER/WORRY as to HOW the Xenomorph is Encountered.......

The Prodigy Corporation basically seems to be working on a Blade Runner Replicants meets Universal Solider kind of PLOT....

Enhanced Humanoids...... and so its a PUZZLE to HOW/WHEN and WHY they would Encounter the Xenomorph?

We know we will get a LOT about the Meta-Human Plot, it could seem these Superior Beings are Created for a Purpose but then would be LOOKED DOWN on as the Replicants were in Blade Runner, so we could see a Potential Revolt by these beings who become the A.I Threat...

But then its LATTER in the TV Series that the Xenomorphs come to be.. and so its a case of HOW!

I can only come up with ONE way this could Connect the Franchise.... this is because to ME it seemed the LV-223 Engineers are Essentially the Meta-Versions of our Engineers, so maybe the Prodigy Corp goes to LV-223 and Discovers those Engineers are Genetically Enhanced and they WISH to Replicate this with Humans?

Thats NOT to say THIS is what we will see.... i will say this is WHAT i Speculated that Alien Covenants Sequel may have been about..... David using the Human Embryos to make his OWN like Metahumans.

And so the Black Goo/Engineers Secrets could LEAD to such Artificial Evolution/Enhancements but maybe a Consequence is that the GOO will eventually Evolve to Create Xenomorphs as a Consequence.

And i SUSPECT that THIS is HOW it will all TIE together...

Black Goo comes from Ancient Xenomorphs, the Engineers Experiment to Enhance themselves, these Enhanced Engineers then USED it to Create Deacons to USE on Humans and maybe Engineers before things went to POT.... then David begins to USE the Stuff to Create all Sorts but the Pathogen will ALWAYS go and EVOLVE to Eventually Create the Xenomorph.

HOWEVER..... i would also NOT rule out that instead of LV-223 that the Company would Uncover a Sunken Engineer Ship or Outpost on Earth and this is where things KICK START from.

NOT a FAN of this IDEA... but i can see it being USED as the Connection and HOW we get our Xenomorphs in the TV Show.

Nice to see the Detail  the RPG are Expanding, i may have to Invest in some for Source Material to see what their Take is on things.

Be interesting to see how they Expand the Engineers as looking at the Cover Art it seems to show the Deacon. I have a Different View on the Engineers compared to say the Comics....

I dont see them as Big Brute LV-223 Kinds who just Create all that Crazy £"$£% (Horrors like Deacon and say other Xeno-Related Monsters) to just SMITE their Foes..... especially if its JUST to get rid of Humans...

As a Cargo of Sacrificial Goo would do the TRICK, or HOW the Goo was shown to Infect the Engineers in Alien Covenant (Neomorphs are a Result of UN-Activated/Weaponized Urns that had Fallen/Leaked and Infected Fungi/Mold).

Ive always looked at their has to be another REASON beyond to Create Killing Machines...   and John Spaights Original Pitch for the Engineers to FIT that bill (Quest for Immortality).

so for me its Interesting as to WHAT the RPG could give us in Regards to LV-223 and its other Purposes as its UNLIKELY we will EVER get these Answers from a Movie. I think its a SHAME that Ridley Scott could NOT have been given the Chance to Expand/Flesh this all out.

Yay! Thanks for mentioning this and the RPG in general. I know I've been on about it a bit, but I'm obviously enthusiastic. I like the job the RPG has done of bringing together the best and most interesting concepts of the movies, games, novels, and comics in the Alien/s universe, and it gives me hope that the future of all of those things will be better as well.

I am currently reading/ studying the Heart of Darkness scenario. Pre-ordering it allows you to get an early version in PDF format before the retail version is out. Its a really crazy and complex story and introduces some very wild new stuff. I actually don't have a group to play with, so I usually do solo runs of these cinematics with dice and a notebook. Its obviously not as much fun as playing with a group would be, but I still get to see the system at work and participate in the kind mental playground aspect of the game.

One thing I enjoy, too, about the RPG is the way that it kind of throws a new light on the movies when you rewatch them. Someone the other day (forgive me, I don't recall who) mentioned this with regards to Prometheus. Suddenly, there are names and an (almost) internal logic to the events of the film and the engineer ruins that the movie did not really make clear. This is obviously a retroactive effect, but, in my opinion, it makes the story more interesting to watch.

I know I don't post much here, and I know that I sometimes am over enthusiastic when I do, but I enjoy reading everyone's opinions on the movies and such, and, as an Alien nerd, heart and soul, I like that there is an interested and equally enthusiastic community of fellow Alien nerds here. I think it will be interesting to see where the new novels, movie, and tv show take things, and I sincerely hope that the RPG really is a foreshadowing of things to come.

Andrew Gaska remains the Alien canon expert. He is currently the consultant used for the books and games as well. Its not just the RPG canon. And its just my opinion, of course, but I would hardly call it "fluff," especially as Disney is looking to consolidate the lore going forward.
