AdminEngineerMay-23-2022 6:03 AMI'm struggling to understand it as well Xenotaris... Synthetics are by design servants and aids to Human initiatives. David was an outlier and a special creation which gave him a desire to look beyond his fundamental programming but it was insinuated that following David, the WEYLAND corp moved to reprogram Synths to be less radical and self aware.
Even the show Raised by Wolves tackles the notion of Androids raising human offspring but still - they remain reliant on Human needs and purpose. I'm curious to see how they explain this. Making the Synths too "human" will negatively impact the storyline imo. We're running into Blade Runner territory at this rate.

MemberPraetorianMay-23-2022 6:25 AMwell this is another comic I will be removing from my personal ALIEN continuity

I am excited to read this comic, through cards i can buy for comics.

Some people might enjoy the synthetic-story, androids, whatever. I'm into the human element, and that's something that AC did wrong by relying too much on androids. Guess that they didn't learn from Alien Covenant? Not that it’s wrong to introduce new things, but the human journey should still be the center thing. Hard pass for me, but I'm also not very much an EU-guy.

Its not that its about synthetics, its just this comic breaks basic lore about the synthetics. Marvel's comics are barely even EU stories since they don't contribute in expanding the universe in any meaningful way that Dark Horse did. Say what you will about Dark Horse but they at least know how to be consistent with the EU's lore outside of the realm of comics

MemberNeomorphMay-27-2022 5:51 AMXenotaris: I don't have a problem with that since I don't see comics as being official material. They can use things from there in movies later on, if they want to.

MemberPraetorianMay-27-2022 6:00 AMI never said the comics were official material, well maybe except for ALIENS Defiance/Resistance which is considered canon by the Alien RPG

MemberNeomorphMay-27-2022 9:42 AMXenotaris: OK so what in the alien-universe is basic lore then? If it’s just the movies, then the comics wouldn’t be a problem, right? If the comics don’t matter, then what’s the point of being against it?
“... its just this comic breaks basic lore about the synthetics.”
Which implies that what the comics tell us matter to an extent, or? I just try to understand your position on the topic. Are you concerned that it would spread to the movies and screw things up?

It has the possibility, yes. Being a movie-first franchise, the CORE CANON is the films. However for those who want to see more of the Alien Universe since the movies take too long to be made/produce and can only experience them in book, graphic novel, or video game. These marvel comics breaks the rules of the core canon (the films) had established onscreen.
