Michael Sarnoski is reportedly in the running to direct the elusive Alien: Romulus sequel! After Fede Alvarez departed the project last year for unknown reasons (some rumors suggest creative differences with producer Ridley Scott), news on Alien: Romulus 2 has been relatively nonexistent. Filming was originally supposed to begin in October of last year but evidently that never came to pass. Now, nearly half a year later we finally have some blips on the Motion Tracker.

Nexus Point News reports:
Sources indicate that Sarnoski is currently the preferred candidate for the job. The potential choice is not surprising given the success of A Quiet Place: Day One, which also centered on a terrifying alien invasion. The film proved that Sarnoski can handle large-scale genre storytelling while still maintaining strong emotional stakes. Sarnoski has even acknowledged that Aliens served as an inspiration for him while developing the story for A Quiet Place: Day One.
