Noah Hawley spoke recently to Vanity Fair for a special feature detailing various information about his upcoming Alien: Earth series for FX. During the extensive interview, Hawley touched on a number of key factors including profound concepts like what it means to be Human, the cautions surrounding artificial intelligence, the arms race between major corporations and more! In addition to everything we already know about Alien: Earth season 1, he also touched on how his series can potentially link up and connect to the established canonical Alien film timeline - which is something he very much plans on doing!
Taken from the Vanity Fair spread, Hawley talks future seasons of Alien: Earth connecting to Ridley Scott's Alien and how the Nostromo got diverted to LV-426:

I don’t yet know, in terms of the series from beginning to end, how much time is going to pass or where we’re going to end up,” he says. “But I do know that at a certain point, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation is going to divert the Nostromo to that planet.
Not only that, Alien: Earth sheds light on a side of Alien lore that hasn't been touched on in the film's yet - the partnership between Weyland and Yutani. While Prometheus and the potentially now ret-conned Alien vs. Predator introduced audiences to Weyland and Weyland Industries, Noah's series will introduce the Yutani side (yes Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem featured a brief introduction of Ms. Yutani at the end of the film, but Alien: Earth casts a new face and backstory for the company, rendering AvP:R irrelevant):

In Alien: Earth, fans will meet another trillionaire power broker from that dynasty’s partner, known now only by her last name. “We’ve never seen the Yutani side of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation,” Hawley says.
Long ago, Yutani’s grandmother sent the Maginot on its hunting and gathering mission to deep space, and she considers the creatures they’ve harvested to be a kind of family heirloom. They’re also the key to wealth-generating biological innovation, which is why Prodigy wants them too.
The interview is quite extensive and covers a lot about the show’s individual characters and their roles as well. We encourage you to give the whole thing a read, here!
Vanity Fair also unveiled a ton of new Alien: Earth promotional images which we've added to our gallery here!
