Amazing!!

That airlock has a cool retro look!

I've been trying to remain unfazed about Covenant, but seeing these location photos has stirred up more than a little excitement in me already.

Is this the Covenant or a shuttle craft...looks kind of big...so probably the Covenant.

They have beautiful landscapes there in New Zealand similar to the lake district here in old blighty. I'm really glad that they chose this location, as i was very worried that they would go for somewhere with perfect beaches and palm trees!

I hope that they incorporate some Gigeresque bio-mechanics into the landscape! Not too much as to take away from the natural beauty of the landscapes though, just enough to show us something that we've imagined the space jockey's homeworld would look like.

I do believe it is part of the COVENANT ship. I also like how one of the first set photos for Prometheus featured a similar set piece. Who remembers this? 

@Chris; i really wish you wouldn't have mate. Thta just reminds me of that scene where the tall, albino fella gets face raped by a kraken. I'm really hoping that this one will be better thought through than Prometheus!

The first half of Prometheus was outstanding, then the second half took a massive nose dive. It was like everybody concerned burned out half way through. Maybe they were all too tanked up from drinking too much red wine to make a coherant second half. (we've all seen the do***entary.)

Still can't get over that Teenage Mutant Ninja control panel chair and boild egg buttons in the juggernaut, they were just pants!

It's easy and tempting to read too much into this. That set piece looks like it will have quite a few more bits added to it before its ready to shoot. The retro look comment by Lone is a good observation. Maybe they are going back to the old utilitarian "Nostromo" look rather than the "cool" look of the Prometheus ship. 

Since it sits right by the water with a natural scenic backdrop, this looks to me more like a landing craft site than a full starship which would probably need green sheet backdrop like they did with the big Prometheus ship.  Maybe it's the remains of an old scout that came to grief prior to Covenant. 

Whatever it is,  it's fun to watch how these guesses will reveal themselves in due course. 

Great stuff. The movie is been film not too far from where I was born and raised. I know the area well. If you goggle pictures of Milford sounds(New Zealand) you will get a better look of the area. There is a tourist sort of area to the right of where the Ship is set up. 

@sp_Jockey, I hope it's a scout ship...I'd like to think they keep the mother ship in orbit, with 1000's of cryo-sleeping humans or cry - human eggs.

scout ship destroyed,Stranded on the planet, unable to get back to the orbiting Covenant mothership...would be a cool plot device.

I have a feeling they'll be filming the scenes where the Covenant crew find David first. I believe they shot the last half of Prometheus first, if I recall correctly. Though, my memory is a tad fuzzy.
