Noah Hawley's Alien TV series which is being developed for FX is currently slated to begin filming this Fall starting in September, however it's become apparent that production may be affected by the Writer's Guild of America and Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) strike currently taking place. A number of other films are currently seeing halts on their productions as a result and if a resolution can't be found before September, the Alien series may be delayed as well.
Variety reports a number of the yet-to-be-announced cast members for Noah Hawley's Alien TV series are believed to be members of the Screen Actor's Guild. While this may not result in a total shut down of production, it will undoubtedly cause some inconveniences and likely delays:
FX’s “Alien,” a series adaptation of the “Alien” franchise written by Noah Hawley and Ridley Scott, is currently in pre-production in Thailand. Sources indicate the show will be a large-scale undertaking that’s reportedly booked out multiple Bangkok studios and hired vast quantities of lighting equipment.
However, a mix of SAG-AFTRA and Equity members comprise the cast (two of the main leads are believed to be SAG-AFTRA members), meaning that production will need to work around the absence of key cast members. The show’s Thailand-based producer Chris Lowenstein declined to comment.
The Alien series is booked to film a number of sequences in Thailand, having reportedly booked a number of studios in Bangkok. As new developments occur, we'll keep you updated!
