With news of Alien: Romulus getting a sequel circulating, cast from Ridley Scott's Alien prequels have chimed in on their interests in continue the prequels' trajectory as well. Both Katherine Waterston and Michael Fassbender who led Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant have rejoined for the series The Agency which is now streaming on Prime Video. While Fassbender seems preoccupied and admittedly hasn't given returning to Alien much thought, Waterston on the other hand is quite eager for Ridley Scott to get back in the director's chair for another Alien prequel - whether or not her character Daniels is included.
Speaking to The Playlist regarding Ridley Scott's interest in making another Alien film, Katherine had this to say:
That’s so overwhelmingly exciting to me, that he might do another, even if [Daniels] bit the dust in that cryo-pod, I would be so excited for him to do another. I would love to be a part of it. I’d love to work with him again. He’s an incredible person, a legend in our time, and a wonderful collaborator.
Expanding further on whether or not she thinks her character Daniels could still be alive and part of the story, Waterston had this to say:
I personally—and maybe this is just because I’m selfish— but I saw a way that [Daniels] make it out of there. I also always felt with that storyline that she was a budding hero, that in that film she was discovering she sort of had what it took to rise up but didn’t really get to yet. So, I mean, I would love to do it. But if it just comes to me being there with my popcorn, I’ll be there opening weekend.
Currently it's unknown whether or not Ridley Scott will finish his Alien prequel story which was originally intended to span 3-4 films in total but was cut short after Alien: Covenant underperformed at the box office, or start fresh with an entirely new direction. Now that interest has been reinvigorated in the idea however, we may see that story finally concluded while Fede focuses on his Alien: Romulus sequel and Aliens interquels.
