The idea that there are aliens is nothing new - but it is a heck of a lot of fun to play when it comes to games. Aliens have been reimagined over and over, from cute little squishy aliens that need to be taken care of to giant people-eating aliens that want to tear you apart and move on to the next meal.
The scope for great alien games is huge! This is why it is really difficult to make a list of the definitively best games.
But there are a couple of alien titles that stand out and have had incredible success.
Alien Shooter - Lost City
If you love an action-packed shooter game, then Alien Shoort - Lost City is a must-play. The basic goal? Just to shoot aliens! With no help from a team, you need to shoot your way out of where you are and make your way to the Lost City. All the while aliens are trying to hold you up and stop your progress.
Upon your arrival in the Lost City, you’ll be trying to save all of the survivors - while more aliens thwart your attempts at rescue and escape.
It can be a challenging game, but if you prefer to play games alone, then this one is ideal.
Aliens
If you are thinking about the 1986 Aliens movie, then you’re right! But what you might not be expecting is that this comes in a slot. Aliens is a NetEnt game which means the graphics and the soundtrack are exactly what you want in a great Aliens game.
The best thing about slot games is that they are all similar in terms of gameplay, so you can play Aliens and then switch to any of the other slot games online at Virgin Games.
What the Aliens slot does so well is taking the speed and excitement from an FPS and putting it into a different format. You get all of the symbols that you’d expect, like the Weyland-Yutani Corp logos, Xeno Splitter, Face Hugger, Warrior Alients, Egg, and The Queen!
Among Us
The smash hit game that was so big celebrities and influencers would share their game code online so people could play with them. It is one of the most played and shared videos on youtube and was streamed to an almost excessive amount.
Among Us is one of the most simple aliens games, but with the introduction of mods, the game can be anything you want.
You’ll either be the impostor or a crewmate, and your job as the impostor is to dispatch the rest of the aliens on the ship.
The games are short and high-speed, and if you’re the impostor, you’ll need to be faster and smarter than the rest of your crew mates.
Space Shooter - Galaxy Attack
For gamers who like the idea of becoming the hero that the galaxy needs and fighting back aliens who are attacking, then Space Shooter - Galaxy Attack is perfect. It takes its inspiration from the 80s and 90s, where groups of spaceships come towards you, and you need to shoot them to make a path through - or eliminate them all. Over time, you will get to bet big bosses!
While the gameplay does bring those big nostalgic feelings to the forefront for those who played this type of game the first time around, this one is a little more modern, with cooler graphics and a lot of speed behind it.
An arcade game that is simple but poses a challenge!
Dead Shell: Roguelike RPG
One of the best things about space and aliens is that until we have lots and lots of solid proof they can be who and what we like. Designers, game writers, and game developers can have a lot of fun imagining what might or might not be out there in space. In Dead Shell: Roguelike RPG there are labyrinths and dungeons and a whole lot more!
An alien-based dungeon crawler where you will be fighting your way through with your mercenaries. You’ll encounter a range of different aliens and a few surprises too!
One of the best features of the game is that if you like autoplay options, you’ve got it. Dead Shell: Roguelike RPG is an idle game, so it carries on even when you can’t.
Alien Resurrection
Go retro and get out your PS1. This FPS survival horror packs a punch and, even after all of these years, will get your heart racing. The game is an adaptation of the movie, which has the same name. Lt. Ellen Ripley (the clone) wakes up to find that she needs to escape the Xenomorphs asap.
Of course, the aliens begin to reproduce and start stalking and hunting their way around the ship. Scary! Fans of the movies, horror survival games, retro games or just Ripley will enjoy this one.
