We have discussions about director and cast. But what about one of the most important factor of the film ... a picture? Dariusz Wolski is Alien prequel cinematographer. He is best known for his work as cinematographer on the Pirates of the Caribbean but he also made: The Crow Crimson Tide The Fan Dark City Alice in Wonderland What do you think about those movies and their visual effects? Did Ridley make good decision? In my opinion, yes. And I don't say yes only because I'm Polish like Dariusz Wolski:)

Ridley composes the shot. These guys operate the 3D cameras. Their film resume is meaningless beyond Ridley's decision to choose them based on it. He does not hire them to create the vision. The vision is Ridley's. That is his strongest quality.

'The vision is Ridley's. That is his strongest quality.' Astromax, I agree with that but... a very good cinematographer has a massive influence on the quality of the picture in the movie. As an example, another cinematographer Slawomir Idziak, who has worked with Scott on 'Black Hawk Down'. He's been nominated for an Academy Award as well as a BAFTA for 'Best Cinematography' in that movie. I assume that you have seen the movie and you can easily see how well it has been done by Idziak.
