MemberOvomorph12/3/2011Does anyone think that Prometheus will spawn a sequel, or will it perhaps stay as one film? I for one hope that are none unless Scott is directing.

MemberXenomorph12/3/2011Hi,
There were articles floating about that Ridley was considering working on a Prometheus sequel after Blade Runner. There was talk of even tying the sequel into the original Alien, but this is speculation since we don't know if this is the "true" Prequel. This is how they're probably justifying this not being a Prequel to Alien but of the same universe they're going to make sequels and kind of do an end around of the original franchise or a parallel storyline. I think if Prometheus is a boom in the box office there will be a few years and we'll see one, without a doubt.

MemberOvomorph12/3/2011Even when he was young Scott never did sequels to his great movies ... Alien ,Bladerunner and the gladiator too ...i think it will be even more difficult now at 74 and with another big enterprise like doing the sequel of bladerunner already scheduled .
Is not much a matter of age ( kurosawa and Antonioni directed until very late ) but is more a matter of willing and the "fear" to do something not at the same level .

Predatordreads
MemberOvomorph12/3/2011I hope that he makes more. Well depending if it is good or not. I swear that around a year ago when Ridley announced that this Alien prequel was going to be called Prometheus he said that it would be its own "grand mythology". Also it was mentioned around the time before it was titled "Paradise" that there would be two films. I could've been dreaming though or ate some paint chips. Also Ridley did state at comic con that he was ready to make the sequel to Damon Lindenof at the panel. So we'll see. Hopefully this movie meet our expectations and they can make this a universe that we want more of. I mean just knowing that another Avatar movie is on the horizon makes my male pattern baldness kick into full effect.

MemberOvomorph12/5/2011I think it will spawn an extended universe weather intentional or not. I also think a lot of hard core fans of say Aliens and Alien vs Predator are going to be stark raving mad about how this film rewrites the alien universe. I am not sure there will be sequels to this but maybe prequels.

MemberOvomorph12/5/2011I'll go with the second prequal. All the hints are there. Two many questions to be answered here considering only the last 8 minutes will be linked to Alien. For me the whole question of how WYC knows so much about the derelict on lv462 is to be answered. I dont think this can be done in the last few minutes of the movie. Unless of course the second android we know nothing about is Ash or a first edition Ash android

MemberXenomorph12/5/2011Hey Bio,
I am apt to think there will be a parallel story line to the original taking us on a different course from the original franchise. They did say a whole new grand mythos of the Alien Universe. This would be the way to do it while not detracting from anything that was previously made. Just my idea though, and I could be completely wrong.

MemberOvomorph12/5/2011I think it would be wise for the film to not fit too closely to the Alien franchise, as it could potentially turn off many would-be movie-goers.
Probably better to do a loosely tied Alien film, in order to appease the hard core fans, as well as garnering more fans through an original story. Not to mention the PG-13 rating that Ridley Scott is aiming for.
