MemberOvomorph01/7/2012So who here is looking forward to the game? I for one think it will be great, It is made by the same people that did the AVP game and I thought that was pretty good. What are your thoughts on it, what could have been done better?

MemberOvomorph01/7/2012I was going to make a thread about this, thank you for doing it :)
I'm really looking forward to the game, it was confirmed that there will be a multiplayer. I hope we can be alien in multi, if we can't I don't think I'll buy it LOL.
Walktrough trailer :

The devs are really Alien's saga fans and they are making a sequel to the saga, the events take place between Alien 3 and Alien 4 IIRC. They are bringing a new specie called the "crusher" who use his head to crush his enemies, he would have mutated from the radiation causes by the explosion of the atmosphere generator.
About that, Hadley's Hope is still standing because apparently the explosion of the generator didn't do a big crater around it, because normally nuclear charges are detonnated above the ground to be more efficient. So in this case the crater is only like a big cone going underground instead of a big spread crater. It's what they use to explain why Hadley's Hope isn't completely burned to the ground.
How is there so many aliens? Don't ask me lol.
The last AvP (2010) game was a disaster, mainly because of the Predators I think haha. But the aliens controls in this game were fabolous, if they can bring similar stuff in this one, I think it will be really good.
I think that with Prometheus coming soon, the Alien spirit will resurrect and make many peoplke buy this game. The game is said to come out in the spring of 2012.

MemberOvomorph01/7/2012Also it's not the same guys that made AvP (2010)
The publisher is still SEGA but that time the devs are Gearbox Software and not Rebellion.

MemberOvomorph01/7/2012to be honest im not impressed ...very scripted ...very little open ...... graphic so so ... something so scripted is not scary .

LHeureux
MemberOvomorph01/8/2012Well the campaign is aimed to add some history to the alien saga so of course it's going to be scripted, but I think that this game will shine in Multiplayer. I hope that the maps will have alot of vent systems, ceilings, floors, etc, for the aliens to move in. And one thing that is really needed is the ability to WALK, this way you won't be detected by the movement captor as an alien. So you can do some surprise attacks :).
Walking is possible in AvP (2010) but there is always some random predators to shoot you miles away with their freaking laser cannon while you're trying to sneak.

MemberOvomorph01/8/2012Way too scripted for me, give me random alien encounters with multiple paths to take in the facility!
Look at the concept of Left 4 dead and expand on it, create many rooms and entrances that you can cut or weld depending on the situation. I don't want a linear path of rooms and hallways, I want a full facility to navigate. Imagine the AI periodically swapping the behavior of the aliens from being incredibly aggressive and careless with their lives to being more sneaky.
This game on the other hand just looks like an interactive movie, those are never fun. :(

MemberOvomorph01/8/2012Unfortunately are games like Call of Duty that have ruined the market ....they do alot of money with heavily scripted , predicable , "oh cool" games that are good for who dont want to use brain to solve a situation ... they tell you everything to do and every "emotion" is scripted ...interactivity and intelligence are gone .
Left for Dead ,you are right is an excellent game ... and his multiplayer is awesome and an Aliens game's MP should be exactly like that

MemberOvomorph01/8/2012I know how you feel Frantz, but like said earlier hopefully the multiplayer is great; which I am sure it will be.

MemberOvomorph01/8/2012Lookit, I have to do this...
this game is already AMAZING
you can see it from the games trailer already
it is absolutely amazing.
It also quite unique in that "Gearbox" was given the license and go-ahead By Fox to make THE STAND ALONE FOR IT a "DIRECT AND NEW STORY SEQUEL TO THE FILM "ALIENS"".
in other words, the Multi-player is not going to be as fantastic as the stand alone part of it is.
What we have here in this game is FINALLY an Alien related franchise video game that KICKS BUTT and takes no prisoners and to anyone that has any doubts just look at this thing...are you NUTZ?
I for one can't wait and have already pre-ordered it, it's a NO BRAINER...this game ROCKS ALL ALIEN VIDEO GAMES EVER MADE ALREADY !!!

MemberOvomorph01/8/2012my 2 cents that it will not get good reviews ..i HOPE im wrong ..is 25 years i play videogames and my nose say " beware beware big shit ahead "

Spartacus
MemberOvomorph01/8/2012did you check the video? all if it? you can use the APC's and the Power Loaders as well. The ONLY wish I have for this type of game is having an option for 3rd person view, but they never put one in them so I picked up Aliens Vs Predators for like 19 bucks, and it's 10 bucks now, but I did that just to get used to the first person view, and it did not take me long.
Looks like an expansion and improvement on that game and for me, that's FANTASTIC news...and I have no worries. I can tell already from the trailer I posted for you what I will be getting and I Love it already.
That said Frantz, I respect your opinion and , as always with video games, there is that slight chance they will screw it all up and it'll suck, but from that 11 minute demo I do not see how that is possible now, I want it Just to go through and see the new sequel story to ALIENS.
Potential Bonus: At the very end of the last one I mentioned "Aliens Vs Predators"...Bishop has found the co-ordinates to the Xeno home world.

Frantz
MemberOvomorph01/8/2012maybe we have veeery different tastes in videogames ...im not interested in driving an apc , or a loader ...i want to be scared in a corridor fearing to find an alien after the next corner and with few ammos left ... and that cannot be done in a 3rd view . I play with PC and ive no really an idea how a 1st person game can be played with a pad !! must be a pain !! ( and it shows in the video , it take 3 hours to aim )

Spartacus
MemberOvomorph01/8/2012That game has been made primarily for console play Frantz, but I feel your pain.
The First one I mentioned Aliens VS predators has that feel to it pretty damn good!!!
You should rent it and see what I mean, not sure if the PC version is as much fun or as easy to use as the console is, But on the PS3 that Aliens VS Predators Games was the best value for 19 bucks I have ever had with any video game what so ever, I finished the game a long time ago but it is so much fun that I still play a little of it every day...
I wanted exactly the same thing, an Alien video game that recreates that scary atmosphere of the first film and 100% Aliens VS Predators does that, or at least the console version does, and once you finish the game through on any difficulty it unlocks all the different sections of the game so you can go back and play them over and over individually.
The first level of the game and a few of the later ones do it too, recreate that scary feeling pretty amazingly!!!
Give it a chance Frantz, I do not think you will be disappointed at all.
Also, just a suggestion, I think you should fork up the $200 or whatever it costs you and buy a PS3, it has a pretty decent blue ray player and lots of other useful things you would appreciate. I am sure

Frantz
MemberOvomorph01/8/2012OF course i will give it a chance .
no im more for PC games like total war serie , strategic and first person shooters so no way for consoles ( far cry 2 and Dead island are both ruined to have been made primarly for consoles ) ...

Spartacus
MemberOvomorph01/8/2012I have seen some incredible PC Gaming set ups Frantz, I understand you, and with the right graphics you can do way way more with a PC set up, BUT, the trade off I find is ease of game play and expense...it costs a lot to set up the ultimate PC system, but it's getting easier and you can route your game play to any LCD anyways so I understand like I said.
The Best...would be if they ever figure out to let us all play with each other online but Cross Platform !!! That way you and I could play together, you on your PC, me on my console, that would be the Best !!! And to be able to play a Multi-player version together... ...cross platform style...online...of the stand alone version of the game.

MemberOvomorph01/8/2012...i want to be scared in a corridor fearing to find an alien after the next corner and with few ammos left ...
I totally agree with that. I play videogames (PC) for about 25 years. I played my first "Aliens" with that incredible Commodere 64 in the mid 80`s. 12 years later I felt very frightened by "System Shock". It was revolutionary then back in the 90`s. Mutants all around. Always in search for ammunition. I felt free to go around in the whole ship. Great game concept. Give me that feeling with Alien.
Sorry for my bad english.
To play together online would be great.

MemberOvomorph01/8/2012heyy i loved that aliens for C64 !!! i passed two days with my cousin to map the base on a paper and at the end i managed to finish it !! great game !!
too bad i finished it with burke :D

MemberOvomorph01/8/2012same game i think Frantz, could be wrong, but I think all 3 of those images were from the C64 version of it. Either way...here's how I guess that looks now in "Marines"...

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012Looking into the gameplay model a bit more, I'm pleased by the implications of one aspect - being this:
The player controls one marine at a time, issues orders to the others using context-sensitive commands, and may switch between characters at any time.[8] The player will also occasionally be required to control a particular location, using tactical positioning and turrets to fend off attacks.[8] Aliens: Colonial Marines will have no HUD to provide the player with onscreen information.
This sounds like a Rainbow Six approach to tactical gameplay - that is, strategizing your placement. This means that it's not a standard 'reflex' shooter, which is good, because Aliens doesn't translate to a run-and-gun affair. You can't sprint to cover to outflank something which climbs on ceilings and relies on 'bust out' spawns.
I think what I really like about this approach, is how much is hearkens to Space Hulk - a game that always felt like Aliens with a Warhammer 40,000 veneer. In that game, you could directly control every unit under your command, but you spent much of the time tactically positioning each member in the squad to keep from being flanked or ambushed. The only way for what Gearbox is describing to work is to make gameplay depend on multiple pathways, and managing vulnerabilities in your fields of fire. A standard FPS cannot function in this way, and nor can a Tactical Shooter function any other.
I think, in the very least, you'll be getting a game that is trying to be different than the mainstream, which is something to support.
