Well, now that the dust begins to settle again, and the 6 month incubation period of space film angst and anticipation kicks in, I was thinking that overall, this little film project of Ridley's, featuring "little things doing great big things" in it, What we have here truly is something that does not come around too often in the cinema world. A film that begs to be seen. A film that reeks of Intelligent writing and of effort and hard work and lots of forethought regarding a subject matter that is not given the big budget attention it should be or only is every ten or fifteen or so years. A film that brings with it a sense of excitement so palpable it is almost completely tangible in and of itself in it's own fictitious state. A script that was locked in a vault, and still is from what I understand, A legendary Conceptual Artist, academy award winning level cinematography and a story that has peaked the curiosity of three continents so far that we know of. It is this kind of film, that helps me to look past the phoney, glittering, scamming, facade that is Hollywood's certain legacy, and restores my faith in the entire creative process of film making. All the debating aside about what this means and what we will see and what this is what that is, in the end what will be is what will be, and I can tell you after burning the downloaded trailer today and watching it in full Optical Surround and on a 47" LG LCD that this film is not just some coming movie. This Film is an EVENT, in and of itself, a moment in time which is remembered and marked by the subject matter in question and the TIME it happened. People will say, "where and when did you first see Prometheus"?

In the last 45 years since the beginning of production work on 2001: A Space Odyssey, there has not been ONE film, that will even come close to having generated the excitement and buzz that this one will once people begin to see it !!!

I agree entirely I 've said it many times here Scott has been dreaming just as we have and will not hang himself or his reputation on some 2 bit movie. Focus on the visuals for now Frank the rest may change entirely over the next six months.

No, this won't be another "Pitch Black".....and for what it was, "Pitch Black" wasn't half-bad, anyway. This is Ridley Scott revisiting one of his most precious legacies. I'm more than fairly confident he isn't going to screw that up.

I wish the lazy, cheap digs would stop - as Spartacus points out, why are we doing this to ourselves? True, we've all been so jaded with the movie industry in recent years...let's face it, there have been few highspots, especially in sc-fi. But I'm willing to hold out for Scott. He's an exceptionally intelligent filmmaker - I'm just thinking of the intricacies and nuances of Bladerunner and the original Alien. This is a genre he's well suited to, as a filmmaker, graphic artist, creative person. I'm sure he'll deliver an epic horror.

I haven't seen a really good Alien movie recently since District 9. It's about time we have another legendary picture to add to the shelves!

So much of today's movies are reboots and prequels. A few are pretty good, but by far most are just pathetic. I think the fact that Scott abandoned the direct prequel with Prometheus was a good thing. Given how much he openly dislikes what was done with the Alien "franchise", along with this being completely original- hopefully sets this up to be a GREAT film. I am hopeful that Scott's attitude towards what was done with the original creature and story that was so dear to him has made him feel he had something to prove. If so, this will be well worth the wait. If not, it will still probably be worth going to see. At least all of my speculation will be settled!

District 9 was very COOL! Everything was just right about that movie! Hotel Rawanda meets Aliens. I think it is cool that this movie gonna stand its own ground and if the Alien DNA in this movie is only found in the atmosphere and the Space Jockey thats fine! I have a good feeling that the trailer hardly even scratched the surface as far as what we have to look forward to at the premiere. I just now realized there are cast members that we have still not seen in the trailer and still taken from comic con that were not included in this trailer and other leaked footage. For instance has anyone seen Guy Pierce yet also what about Patrick Wilson as the cocooned man, Rafe Spall and remember the picture of the guy wearing the space helmet and the top of his face is dissolving but you can see him screaming. Or that part where Fassbender is wearing that navigational helmet with the neon yellow visor. Isn't this movie going to be almost 3 hours and remember Ridley mentioned there would be two robots possibly.

Ridley also pointed out that he's locking the best parts of the film away which of course means you aint seen nothing yet mate. Also in the radio interview mentioned with neville page he said ..... Ridley and i had a meeting and i was genuinely terrified to meet my hero who inspired me to do the job i do creature effects design, He then goes on to say Ridley said to me i want you to be better than Giger with which he's heart sank and he asked himself how does one be better than Giger ?. Well he concluded that you dont you just do the best work you possibly can and hope the director likes it. He than says i worked furiously for months trying my goddamn hardest to come up with something thats never been seen before i pulled out all the stops to make it as impressive and unique as i could well all i can add is that when i showed what i have been working on to ridley he said well done mate you got it. To hear that from Ridley scott was music to my ears so now i'm looking forward to seeing the result on screen. Lets hope we all agree.

I asked Frantz about that, to see if he could check into it for us, I mean, he wrote "190 Minutes" which In My mind if I am not mistaken = 3 hours and ten minutes which seems way way off to me. I would love it if it is, but they never or rarely are that long in their theatrical releases.

i don't know how intelligent filmmaking can reek. probably want to use a more neutral term like "suggests" or "smacks of".
