Fly in the soup?

I've read through several plot theories so far on this forum. I think if someone hasn't hit the nail on the head, I'm sure we've nailed bits and pieces. In either case, very interesting discussions.
Fly in the soup? Perhaps the Xeno were a manufactured weapon (not a new concept here) but were designed as something different. Perhaps a "bug" got into the gentic "soup" caused a chain reaction, And created a new "super-bug" that was unexpected and too hard to control. Clearly in my opinion the alien is very weapon like. Its life cycle is very weapon like, and once the cycle starts, just like a bug, they basically live to breed and kill everything else around them - like an ant hive. But it wouldn't necessarily be effective on a planet of highly intelligent life. Maybe there is something worse and the xeno is only a taste of the real danger thwarted by the crash of the SJ ship.
As far as the experiement going wrong, it would account for the chest-bursted-spacejocky.
In the alien movie, the SJ ship insides and interior architecture look almost taken over by the secreted architecture of the alien hive. In the Prometheus trailer, the insides look a bit more machine like, more tech vs. the bio mech. Same ship or not, could it be significant or simply artistic license? Meaning, if the Xeno weapon got away from the Engineers, perhaps this bio-mech, nano-borg virus ooze, took over the ship, turning it into sort of a "womb" creating the eggs out of the ampules (ampule champer looks similar to egg chamber). Maybe the SJ sitting in his chair, BECAME part of the ship/chair, as fused to it as this bio-mech virus morphed everything it touched, and part of the SJ transformed and burst out into whatever started laying eggs?
Remember we can't assume a "Queen" alien is even in the orginally conceived alien lifecycle. We don't know in Ridley's world what layed the eggs, or if anything even did. For all we know what comes out of the egg/ampule is whatever it needs to be..... Even if we want to assume, because we've liked the "queen" concept, if may not hold true. (That was Aliens concept of what layed the eggs. It wasn't a bad concept.)
