Many make the assumption that the SJ/engineer or creators of the story are evil, corrupt, uncaring. While I don't mean to get all tied up in circular reasoning of what evil is, and if a being so far advanced would tend look at humans as insignificant as a bug, and by their own perception not be evil.
But... What if the SJ/engineers intended to give us some gift. Maybe they give it to Shaw, like some kind of emaculate conception. Perhaps the crew were meant to find something but rather than embrace the gift, greed and power take over, maybe lust for immorality, and Shaw is locked up and experimented on like some kind of laboratory rat against her will because of what she is given or finds. Perhaps she is corrupted or impregnated by the crew? That would be rather disturbing.

MemberOvomorph01/17/2012Well gift doesn't necessarily mean the one that you want as to your Santa remark! I wasn't making the assumption that whatever Shaw gets is warm as fuzzy. As a more neutral being perhaps the gift is to get us back on track to other designs. But your right in that my original thought wasn't one of malevolence.
The engineers could also just be burning us like ants with a magnifying glass for the hell of it. Or in more direct movie related terms, infecting humans to see what happens. That seems kind of boring but for sure disturbing.

MemberOvomorph01/17/2012i've thought of the sjs as benevolent/neutral simply studying the creatures and perhaps quarantining it...that's until the retardation of aliens by james cameron ruined that effect. but that film doesn't really exist anyway.
but i don't buy the gooey, heart warming and all too cliche "twist" that the aliens were really going to be santa clause, and we ruined that and have to pay the price. nice plot for a twilight zone episode. but this is an adult movie with a profound and original story and has to live up to alien. i don't think they'd take that route.

MemberOvomorph01/17/2012Yet mankind has proven to be cruel
In our history. So much hatred, violence,
greed that lead to many wars and
genocides and still going on in
the present.
I csn understand that the SJ would
like to erase us from universe when
they know our violent nature.
My question is, will the xenomorph
bw created by the humans or
by the SJs?

MemberOvomorph01/17/2012I love how so many are willing to talk shit on Cameron, yet Aliens was a masterpiece and those same people will be in the theater dangling from the sack of Cameron to see his next movie.

MemberOvomorph01/17/2012I read in a recent article that scott said the space jockey was a suit and not a being but its a suit that the 1979 crew thought was a fossil.. Any thoughts on that???

MemberOvomorph01/17/2012@walterhiller I agree with you. This is not the kind of movies that a motivational speaker could exhibit ... :) :D XD

MemberOvomorph01/17/2012I can assure you that I won't be in line to see Cameron's next movie. Still haven't seen Avatar. Aliens was lame. Took a masterpiece like Alien and made it into a kiddie shoot-em-up film. No thanks.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Aliens lame? I don't think so. I'm willing to bet majority of the people on here think the same. I agree, Alien was a masterpiece, however Aliens was amazing as well. Alien 3 and the turd that followed were lame.

I like this idea. Remember when that infant alien burst out of Kane's chest, and Ash utters something like "That's Kane's son.." or "Cain's son." The Biblical Cain is the first murderer in recorded human history (OK, I may be wrong about the history part)...well, according to the Hebrew texts anyway. If Xeno takes the biological form of its host, maybe it takes its other more intangible aspect, like personality, soul, predisposition towards violence etc.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Aliens was a good film FOR THAT TIME..I mean the 80ies, Reagan, SDI, cold war..Was a fitting interpretation. The designs were also very nice, Prometheus does reference to that.
Yeah, me , too was thinking the JS looked like a fossil, not a suit..and thats a tough one, to get the Prometheus story straight to fit into Alien. There has to be a GOOD explanantion why it doesnt look like in ALIEN...Hope, they dont fuck it up like in THE THING.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012My best guess on why the SJ in Alien doesn't appear to be wearing a suit is simply because the material deteriorated over the years. Mind you, this all B.S. because Giger's original designs never had any intentions of wearing suits. I'm sure Ridley never dreamt of prequels, etc. while filming the original.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012My guess is the humans bring whatever trouble they run into in this movie on themselves - by "stealing fire from the gods" or taking some piece of their technlology to use for our own purposes - is when things start to unravel, technology that was probably for benevolent purposes but we screwed things up and turned it into a force of destruction.

This is probably the general consensus of how PROMETHEUS plot would finally play out.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Hey Kane77, whats wrong with the Thing?? I enjoyed the Prequel. But, They did Fuck up by using way too much CGI when they should have took the time to use models like the origional..
