I quite like that idea to be completely honest.
The only flaw in the plan is that I truly believe the telescopic structure is used to navigate the craft.

Above you can clearly see what seems to be some sort of star map in the room containing the chair/telescope, so for my money its more of a navigational tool/control for piloting the ship.

Bioformer, why do people still use this term. Prometheus contains no such thing, did you not watch the comic-con panel from summer last year where Damon whathisname said that he was asked by Ridley to take Spaihts story (which was very much an Alien prequel) and turn it into something original and separate from Alien. Spaihts story is old news.
Next you'll be mentioning terraforming or the creation of the Xenomorph/Alien (sigh - yes Sparky this means you). Prometheus is about mankinds origins and beliefs and terrifying revelations they uncover when they go looking for their creators. There is no bioformer, there is no terraforming (which was a Cameron idea btw, not Ridleys) and there is no Xenomorph/Alien.
Prometheus is a film about mankinds origins and the Space Jockey, and that is the only way in which it relates to Alien. Ridley and Damon have said it a million times, when will people listen to what they are being told, not to want they want to hear.

GrooveraiderJanuary 03, 2012
@Baldas - That's some creepy ass Giger-esque idea. I dunno wether or not
20th Century Fox would allow Sir Ridley to go that far...LOL
I appreciate your thoughts but i'm also with Mentos. The pic
looks like a navigational room where the SJ contemplates its
destination.
SubterraneanHomesickJanuary 03, 2012
Mentos + Grooveraider: damn, that's a good point eheh. Still, I believe that the story can hold if you assume then that the chair alone does the trick, or that the chair rotates to the lower floor when surgery takes place for some other mechanism to take over.
Snorkelbottom: I use the word "bioformer" because it's ubiquitous on the website. Everybody would assume correctly that I mean some kind of genetic base that can mixed with other DNA to create other species. I'm not a native english speaker (I'm portuguese) so I don't think I have the skill to always find the most appropriate english words. Feel free to replace the word "bioformer" for "goo" or whatever you feel more appropriate.
Additionally, this theory does not go against the search for the origin of men. Engineers can be either the creators of men that in the end have a creepy use in mind for our species... or maybe they are just a species that took over the technology of our creators (another race, let's say The Gods).... or any other idea - there could plenty that would be consistent with what I presented here.
For me the SJ is just like the humans - another race that came to the planet in the past to look for their origins and is also used by the Engineers. Again, we would find what they are and this would be consistent with every RS's comment.
Therefore, I respectfully disagree with your points.

I tend to agree with Mentos on the telescopic thingy. Also, we do not know whether the telescope and the ampules are in the same location (there are the temple and the ship). If the Alien Queen is canon then the human host is needed only for 1 egg.
But I really like the ideas you got along the way.
Premise 1:
Gotta agree with you. This earlier artwork from Giger (might not be canon) depicts that eggs are borne from human/humanoid abdomen:
But it might not be from females but it would be more perverted if they were. Note also that egg comes through the belly.
Premise 2: Agree. The SJ seems integrated into the chair in Aliens. He needs to be getting food and have sewage from it.
Premise 3: Nice analogy. If Prometheus is a kinda advanced humanoid (like the tall guy we see in trailer) then could have some abilities e.g. regenerating after each torture to suffer more the way Prometheus did in the myth. Personally I think that it would be great to look at the Prometheus myth more and see what kind of ideas people could get from there.
As a sidenote. We all might be over explaining things. Kinda like George Lucas did in ep I-III. And totally ruined the myths in IV-IV. I am hopeful that Ridley Scott knows better and leaves plenty of room for the unexplained. The uncertainty adds to the creepiness. There wont be time to explain it all anyway if the plot is to be any good. Personally I like the feel that things are really far from our reach of human understanding. That underlines how insignificant player humans are in the big picture and that the whole human cinilization could be destroyed with minor effort.

GavinJanuary 03, 2012
I made no points, I merely related facts and comments from the horses mouth. If that is what you disagree with then I am confused.
SubterraneanHomesickJanuary 03, 2012
My last post illustrated that my "theory" doesn't go against your "facts".

GavinJanuary 03, 2012
I never said it did (the facts not my facts), I just stated that people should stop using the term bioformer, as this phrase came from a supposed leaked script which has since been proven false, that is all. the rest of my post was aimed at everyone in general, I'll explain...
Although we all have theories I think some are getting way too caught up in what they believe and expect, instead of what has been said. To put it another way some have their heads in the clouds and have persuaded themselves they know exactly what Prometheus is, when in fact, in truth all we actually know is what I included in that previous post, which was...
...watch the comic-con panel from summer last year where Damon whathisname said that he was asked by Ridley to take Spaihts story (which was very much an Alien prequel) and turn it into something original and separate from Alien. Spaihts story is old news.

MentosJanuary 03, 2012
Sorry @Snork but you're not completely on the mark there.
"While referring to the developments of Alien Prequel Scott has frequently mentioned a focus on the subject of terraforming" Source
"He rounded out the Alien prequels talk with the news that the films would indeed address some of the practicalities of outer space colonization, including the issues of terra forming, the nature of light speed, and humanity’s ability to actually leave Earth." Source
Scott has mentioned terraforming several times. In fact the opening of the film is rumoured to depict Earth being terraformed to a voice over.

As for the bio-former I'm completely with you on that one. And as for the Biomechanoids, I personally think we'll see the origin of the creature.

GavinJanuary 03, 2012
Yes, I contend that the rumoured beginning of the movie may show earth being "terraformed" but the sources you link to are third party. I personally am going of the words from the horses mouth, ie Damon whathisname and Ridley himself, anything beyond that is conjecture and rumour at best.

MentosJanuary 03, 2012
The sources cite quotes from Scott. The second in particular summarizes his words at the Hero Complex Film Festival.
In reference to your third party comment, unless Sir Ridley addressed you in person, your information will have travelled through a second, third party. That doesn't discount its credibility of course, I'm just pointing out that everything we hear from Scott is passed on to the internet through a the medium of another party.

GavinJanuary 03, 2012
I'll reword it (sigh), if I see/hear Ridley or Damon say something then I listen 100%, but if someone quotes them or refers to them I take it with a pinch of salt, as should we all.

GavinJanuary 03, 2012
NO, it looks rubbish, worst thing ever, seen better things on used loo roll...
LOL, as if, of course it looks absolutely, frickin amazing. Thats why we're all here.

GBorawskiJanuary 03, 2012
It makes sense, and recalls the myth of Prometheus (a vulture eating the liver of Prometheus). If people are Epimetheus, where is Zeus, Pandora and her box?

Interesting thought and sometimes the right answers are found in the most far out thinking. Personally I think it´s too Alien-oriented, when you think about Ridley Scotts decision to move away from Xenomorph (hate that word, actually) territory and create an original story that relates to, but not necessarily focuses on, the Alien franchise. "The surprise is in the story" Scott says, and I think Prometheus will disturb us through the big picture in which the Xenomorph will play a small role. I embrace the creative thoughts in this forum though, because the open our minds to new possibilities when imagining the plot. Merely stating the facts brings us nowhere in my opinion, that´s what IMDB is for.

The map room facinates me....particularly on close examination the outer ring with orange/red/blue/green blocks or sections. Kind of reminds me of a DNA film with the black lines. Could this be the make up or composition of a life form for each particular location....

SpartacusJanuary 03, 2012
Just IMO...very imaginative theory.
I don't think it's happening but that doesn't change the fact that your idea is extremely creative and I like that a lot.
IGIGOUJanuary 03, 2012
Common! Snorklebottom, have some space for creative speculation !! - as for your self!.. the community has embraced you! enormously ! .. give these guys a chance to express their ideas!

RickJanuary 03, 2012
Snorky is just a bit frustrated. I can understand it with the same theories over and over again. He just needs to be patient and seperate the wheat from the chaff and look for those gems in the ruff when they do come along. Yo Snorks how goes your biofomer I'll sell you some for 5 xenos, and a rapace :P

IGIGOUJanuary 03, 2012
Baldas>>>>>nice post.. its a great idea, we all wont know what will happen until the movie , but its quite a inquisitive post we all might have recognize !
IGIGOUJanuary 03, 2012
Rick.. Snorky is talented..... but Why are you writing on his behalf? is he god on this site! .... He may be a creatieve writer,, but give us assholes a chance to express our stupid ideas! shit this is just a movie!

RickJanuary 03, 2012
Previous Post keeps disappearing after editing. SO I copied and pasted here.
IGI,
I'm not writing on his behalf, and he's far from it. I've read his other posts and the comments he's made and made an observation that he is frustrated, and understand why. I even went and teased him about bioformer, but you wouldn't know that without reading the other posts he's made. So take a deep breath, count to 5 and relax. Not that it matters but I think I'm like 31st person to register on this website for talking about Prometheus. I'm one of the more level headed people on here, ask anyone that knows me. So talk away its the forums, I'm not holding your hands away from the keyboard keeping you from expressing what you want. So have at it.
Regards,
Rick

LOOK MAN
GROW UP AND STOP DOING THIS
I DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS THREAD IN ANY WAY
I HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT TREAT YOU LIKE GOLD
SUCK IT UP AND LET IT GO AND DRAGGING ME INTO THIS CHILDISH GAME OF YOURS
IS NOT THE RIGHT THING TO DO AT ALL
ONE OTHER THING
TERRAFORMING IMO IS A MAJOR MAJOR PART OF THIS ALL AND IF YOU CANNOT SEE HOW THIS MIGHT BE THE CASE RIGHT NOW IT'S YOUR PROBLEM AND NO ONE ELSE'S
AND ON THE 1 IN 1 GAZILLION CHANCE THAT TERRA FORMING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS FILM I WILL BE FIRST PERSON TO COME IN HEAR AND ADMIT THAT I WAS OFF BASE, UNTIL THEN, CONSIDER THIS
I STILL SUPPORTED YOU IN ALL OF your threads WITH AN OPEN HEART AND MIND!!!
AND I AM STILL WILLING TO.
YOU JUST NEED TO TAKE A BREAK AND THINK THIS ALL THROUGH BECAUSE MAKING A POST TO PERSONALLY INSULT PEOPLE, ANYONE ON THIS FORUM, IS NOT THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
THAT'S NOT ADHEARING TO A CODE
THAT'S BREAKING THE CODE OF ETHICAL BEHAVIOUR I AM TALKING ABOUT.
IF YOU DON'T AGREE WITH SOMEONE'S OPINIONS SAY SO IN A POLITE WAY AND MOVE ON, NO NEED TO START A WAR !!!
AND THE MOST DISGUSTING PART OF THIS IS THIS...
YOU POST A PIC THAT CLEARLY SHOWS A SLIMEY WATER CREATURE AND SOLICITE OPINIONS IN IT DIRECTLY BY STATING YOU ARE SOLICITING OPINIONS ON IT
I GIVE YOU MY IMPRESSION IN THE SPIRIT YOU SAY YOU INTENDED AND THEN YOU DO THIS???????????
MAN, YOU GOT ISSUES RIGHT NOW DUDE!!!

GavinJanuary 04, 2012
Sparky, Listen man. It was not meant as an attack or an insult. I was just highlighting the fact that in the past few days you have become obsessed with the belief that you have 100% nailed down exactly what will and won't happen in Prometheus, all I'm trying to do is be a friend and open your mind to other possibilities.
I guarantee the majority of members here are like me and you, in that they are avid watchers of two and three disc special edition features. Thus they, as I and should you know that nothing is 100% certain to be in a movie, be it a scene, a theme or an idea, until the final cut has been made in the editing room.
I know the ideas you rally behind so religiously have been mentioned, as have others, but for anyone to ascertain that 6 months before release date they have the film 100% sussed is... well its impossible.
I think I said this to you a while back when you and BM had a disagreement, so I'll say it again - relax, its just a forum, its just words, try not to take everything so to heart. And to add to that, open your mind and relax your position, please.
Remember, Prides comes before a fall.
P.S. Thanks for everyones comments, I think? lol.

I'll be honest here. I think Spart has a lot to offer in conversation but his behavior here would have gotten him banned/barred from most other forums. Not saying I agree with that but I think he needs a break. It is tiresome to see post after post of him stating his facts in argumentation and then somebody plainly proves their side and then have him act like it was either what he was saying all along....or be all apologetic about it when he should have just left well enough alone. This a forum about a movie, not politics or religion emotions shouldn't be that high. The man has stated he is 51 years old but his behavior here says otherwise.
So kudos Snork for being the second person to call him out on this.
