How does the Cocooned Man play into the movie plot.
Is he a creation by the Gods / Engineers as a means to allow for experiments?
He obivously is not a member of the crew of Prometheus, or he would have a name or title.
Any thoughts on this

Game Over Man!
MemberOvomorph01/8/2012This just adds to the mystery of this movie. If the Gods/Engineers were our supposed creators why would they need to re-create a human for experimentation. This maybe part of the SJ after the stealing of "fire". Maybe they create a human to find what our weaknesses are?

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorph01/8/2012Perhaps there is a connection between the goo and the space jockey suit and the creation of the eggs? Oh ya, and the Facehuggers. That connection being like a Pandoras Box, eventually bringing oblivion....it is designed to be a weapon by the aliens. What I'm not sure about is, if this technology is to create new worlds from old worlds by first destroying them or to create new worlds by reorganizing matter or just out of nothing? As far as humans are concerned? are they part of the equation, or space jockeys created humans to serve them in some fashion other than to be hosts in a sexual life cycle? Or do we go back to the original story of two different alien civilizations and humans? SO many Mysteries....I admit I would like to see entire worlds morphed into Biomechanically engineered habitats for a whole new universe of aliens and creatures. Then....it's time for some Star Craft! Give me one of those repeater laser pulse rifle Vaporizers and hook up to it's snorkle. Like a snake that eats it's tale the search for our beginning leads to our end, being digested over and over again, cocooned in it's intestine> space marines ROCK! chained that Prometheus be! Eagle I's Fly after fast food take out after listening to some UFO

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012Where did this 'cocooned man' come from outside of the imdb website? I mean is this 'part' official?!

Frantz
MemberOvomorph01/9/2012no is not official but is stange that is not changed in a few months ....
so support the "strange" role of Wilson there is an interview ( of theron ? or Rapace ) that say that is character appear only in flashbacks ...
and his interview in which he said that he have a small but important role ( or something like that )

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012sorry, but what cocooned man are you guys referring?
i only see at least one crew member having issue with his helmet's visor
melting like being attacked by acid, then a guy who is in pain while
his skin changed, then a guy who is jumping at one of the crew members.
So where is that cocooned guy in the teaser trailer?

Frantz
MemberOvomorph01/9/2012is not in the trailer ...on IMDB one of the main actors is credited as "cocooned man" ...while all the other main actors have a normal name

Ooh, I like your thinking!
So where is that cocooned guy in the teaser trailer?
If I had to guess, I'd say he's (Patrick Wilson) crouching on the floor next to the bald guy in the wheelchair when Shaw(?) collapses in the doorway. Which would ruin the neat theory I had in my head about the jockey suits in this film being cocoons for weird baldos who eventually morph into the being(s) the big head is meant to represent.
Oh well...

I think he's (Patrick Wilson) crouching next to the bald guy in the wheelchair in the room where Shaw(?) collapses near the doorway. Which kind of ruins the neat theory I had going in my head where the jockey suits are cocoons for weird baldos who eventually morph into the being(s) the big head is meant to represent.
Oh well...

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012on that guy ( with a military haircut ) we have me that think is guy pearce ..biomechanic that think is Embree and you that think is wilson ...the game is quite open :D

Gavin
MemberTrilobite01/9/2012I think the third guy in that seen, crouched next to the wheelchair bound "old bald guy" character is the character closest to the camera in the other scene with the "old bald guy"

Would be easier to compare if someone could get a close up of the guy in question from both images above. Frantz, you up for it?

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012Four bets going now! LOL
I think Frantz is in the lead. His guy has good stubble profile (which matches the unknown kneeling soldier), while my guy doesn't :(
And snorkel, your guy has a teeny weeny bit more hair than army boy. Unless he shaves in the movie, your odds are blowing out!
edit: Embree is another great guess.

Frantz
MemberOvomorph01/9/2012can be of course ...but one is so far away ..and in the other he have an extreme facial expression so is really hard to say ..biomechanic agree with you ... i will hold the judgement for a little more :p

Frantz
MemberOvomorph01/9/2012my take is that

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012btw i dont want to influence anyway ..becuase its the worst we can do ..we risk to make errors ...

MemberOvomorph01/12/2012well in alien and aliens the xenomorphs clearly cocoon their victims for implantation..the scene in which dallas was cocooned was cut from the first film, but yeah thats a definite sign of the xenomorphs
