MemberOvomorph01/10/2012Hi All,
Well officialy this is not my first post ( I lost my first post, so trying a do over) , I have been lurking the forums for some time and decided to finally join the community. I have to say that most of the posts here are good reads and kind of funny at times.
When Aliens came out I was 13 years old and was not allowed to see the movie as it was rated R, but I had a friend that was able to see it ( every kid needs a friend that can see restricted material, LOL). I was/am very intersted in SCI-fi and I was very excited to have him tell me every detail about the movie, every single exhaustive detail.
Well it scared the crap out of me, and gave me nightmares, thats right a movie that I did not see for myself, site on seen gave me nightmares. I guess I was a bit of a sheltered child, I mean I was so fascinated by the account of this movie that I would ask my friend every week, week in and week out about the details of the movie, any other angles he might have missed re hash the plot details, I just kept pestering and pestering about it. It was something that I never imagined or could ever imagine I guess. Well it didnt help that the Alien toy came out and was in stores as well, seeing that toy doll and the comercials for it kind of cemented the creepiness of the Alien and cemented my fear of it as well. Ah the 70"s, the good old days when advertisement of rated R movies could be done to children LOL. When I saw that Alien Doll at thriftys I walked by it quickly, but I was fascinated and terrified of it at the sametime, I was compelled to do a couple of quick walk byes and take quick glances at it though.
Well I finally saw Alien when I was 18 at a friends house on his VCR, it truley lived up to the scary/fascinating/creepy movie I had imagined, ( I think my friend embelished some parts though when we were 13). I am really hooked on this Alien franchise and am so thrilled that RS is doing a prequel/not a prequel of this franchise. I cant wait to see what he has in store for everyone.
I have to say that I did like Aliens alot as well, even though some fans have critisized Cameron for taking the mystique of the Alien out of Alien by making them "INSECT LIKE" and able to be killed. I think thats what I liked about it, this being can be harmed, and it was a good actioner in my opinion and you got see Aliens get blown up and crushed. I guess it was good for me....LOL, thats what I wanted to see. I what stuck for me in Alien was what Ash said near the end, Perfect life form and you cant kill it ( I dont know if he ment the crew of the Nostrome couldnt kill it because they did not have weapons, or he was just being a dick). When Ripley is in the escape Ship and jettisons the Alien inot the void of space, it was still alive and crawled into the engine housing, Ripley ignited the engines to push it out, it seemed to me that it was still alive even with the intense heat and pressure from an engine blast. So maybe Ash was right after all.
What if in Prometheus the Xeno or proto Xeno is shown to be truly unkillable, I mean wouldnt that be a great scare and something unseen in movies( i know Jason was always killed and came back) this is different, I mean truly un killable not killed and came back, or "I thought it was dead" NOT!!. I think that is kind of a disturbing thought.
Anyways, thanks for reading.
Sincerely

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012I always thought this way for the aliens in Aliens, they were killable easily because the Marines had weapons and because the Aliens worked as an hive in this one and not as a single one that must live at all cost. Also you can see that the alien in Alien is different than the ones in Aliens, mainly the head is different. So maybe it was another kind of Xeno.
