MemberOvomorph01/11/2012I was just reading another blog on Ridley Scott's career, and they have a brief synopsis of BLADE RUNNER which caught my attention. There are way too many similarities between BR and the speculated plot for PROMETHEUS for me to ignore.
[POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!]
Isn't BR basically a futuristic tale of humanoid cyborgs who escape their captivity, and searches for answers to their origins. Tyrell Corp who designs the Replicants (the robots) is headed by some genius tech-prophet guy not unlike Steve Jobs. The Replicants led by Rutgers Hauer defy God's law, and sneaks into Earth (it's illegal for Replicant to enter Earth from their slave colony planet, probably terraformed), and breaks into Tyrell resident which is depicted as a ginormous pyramid-like structure, and [SPOILERS] kills their Creator. Android, bio-synthesis, terraforming, pyramid, origin of life ...Need I say more, people?
And it all leads to the character Deckard played by Harrison Ford. Who is he? Or rather, what is he? Android 2.0?

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012There is a foundamental difference that make impossible to link the two movies ...
"Android, bio-synthesis, terraforming, pyramid, origin of life" are used in Blade Runner to raise deep and painful questions about what we are ....the villans did lead you to deep questions .
"Android, bio-synthesis, terraforming, pyramid, origin of life" were used in Alien and in Prometheus to support the story and the enterteinment ... the deep questions here will lead you to the villans .
So are to me two totally different movies and aims .

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012They raise similar ideas and concepts, but a realized in a different story line. I don't think it's an accident that they share directors.

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012There are so many similar thematic explorations between BLADE RUNNER & ALIEN that they are almost part of an expanded universe: the omnipotence of mega corporations, genetic engineering, bio-synthesis, quest for truth of origin. Don't you think modern day corporations are so gargantuan monstrosities with intersecting interests that they have become more powerful than a country.
