MemberOvomorph01/30/2012Am I right in thinking that LV426 was actually name Archeron or some thing like, originally in the novelisation of alien or aliens???
Also I've never heard Alan Dean Foster credited in the Alien franchise(even on the DVD extras) as I'm sure he wrote the book, because I read it in 1979 and I'm sure his name was on the cover??
Please enlighten!!!
P.S. in the book did the crew find the source of the distress signal??? I can't remember

MemberOvomorph01/30/2012 Hi Spartacus, do you have access to Amazon's UK site in Canada? you can buy it on there,Have found out, through Amazon, that Alan Dean Foster wrote Alien,Aliens and Alien 3 and have just remembered that I've read all of them!!
I still don't think he has been mentioned in Any DVD featurettes which seems odd!!.I know the screenplay writers got a mention in the Alien Quadraligy set as I watched every extra in the box

MemberOvomorph01/30/2012The planet is called Acheron in the 'Aliens' novelization.
Alan Dean Foster is the writer of novelizations for both 'Alien' and 'Aliens'.
In 'Alien', the crew does discover the source of the signal and it's a small device set into a wall of the derelict that has a visably moving part to it, that their equipment clearly defines as the source.
Foster also must've been working from an early draft of the script with early designs from Giger as well, because the derelict has no SpaceJockey pilot in it and the facehugger has a grey eye set into its back.

MemberXenomorph01/30/2012WB,
ADF is never credited in the movies because he's the writer of the book his credit is on the book. Thus there is no need to credit him in the movies. That is an Apples to Oranges comparison. Thats just my opinion tho. I don't know how the Acheron/LV-426 can be linked. I think there is something in the old Alien Script calling LV-426, Acheron and thats how ADF found it.

Rick

MemberOvomorph01/31/2012Cheers Guys, I'm the equivalent of a "trekker" not a "trekkie" on these matters, so don't get too immersed in the minutia of the alien universe.
just out of curiosity, are there different levels of Alien fandom E.I. are there "trekkers" and "Trekkies"....???
